MIDDLEPORT -- The Roy-Hart/Barker Varsity Football team picked up their first win of the season on Friday night with a 28-20 victory over visiting Tonawanda. Barker’s Malik Smith scored 2 touchdowns in the game.
The varsity team will travel to Albion for a 7:00 PM game this Friday and the JV’s will host Albion in Barker this Saturday at 10:00 AM.

Congratulations to Roy-Hart/Barker Varsity Football player Malik Smith who is off to an excellent start this season. In week 1 versus Akron, Smith was named the Tyler Miller “00” Player of the Game for his outstanding play. In week 2 Malik was named the Cross Fit Character Athlete of the game for his sportsmanship at Alden. Smith also had a 90 yard kick-off return for a touchdown, a 5 yard touchdown run, and 193 total yards against Alden.

NEWFANE -- The Barker/Royalton-Hartland Football team defeated the Newfane Panthers on Saturday, 23-14. Malik Smith earned the Cross Training Football Character Player of the Game, and will be in the Tuesday edition of the Buffalo News. Smith had a great day on the football field with 50 yards rushing and 23 yards passing. He also had a 32 yard touchdown reception. Eddie Wasnock finished with 2 touchdowns on the day.
Nick Fazzolari was a monster on the defense side of the ball with 10 tackles and a sack. Shawn Callaghan had 6 tackles, and a huge pass break up to secure the lead.
Wasnock Racks Up 110 Yards In Total Offense Against Notre Dame

BATAVIA -- The Barker/RoyHart Varsity Football team defeated Notre Dame of Batavia on Saturday afternoon, 14-12. Leading the way for the Raiders was Eddie Wasnock with 110 total yards of offense, which included a 34 yard run in the opening drive to set up the 1st touchdown. Malik Smith also had 50 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Nick Fazzolari had 10 total tackles. Noah Rocklien had a huge day on the defensive side of the ball with 6 tackles and 2 QB sacks.
The Raiders will travel to Albion on Friday night for 7:00 PM kick off.
Football Team Provides Homecoming Excitement With 20 Points In Just Over 90 Seconds

BARKER -- The Varsity Football team defeated Wilson on Saturday, 41-7. The game was tied with 1:32 before half time when the team erupted with 20 straight points to close out the first half. The scoring frenzy started with Dominick Snider’s 88 yard touchdown run. On Wilson's next offensive possession, Lovon Diagler intercepted the ball to set up Andy Xapsos’s 18 yard touchdown pass to Brandin Lee Woods to make it 21-7. With just 7 ticks left on the clock in the first half, Wilson fumbled the ball, Dominick Snider picked it up and ran it 37 yards to pay dirt to give Barker/Roy-Hart a 27-7 lead at the half.
Josh Mead was solid on the day with 50 yards rushing, and on defense he recorded a QB sack and 2 tackles. Mead was also awarded the Character Player of the Game by Cross Training Football of Section VI.
Snider finished the day with 9 rushes for 188 yards, and 3 total touchdowns. Snider was recognized as the Connolly Cup Top Performer for Week 6.
Haight Named To New York State Sports Writer Association All State Football Team

BARKER -- Post season awards keep coming in for Jacob Haight. The New York State Sports Writer Association has posted their All State Football Team for Class B. Haight was recognized as the 2nd Team All State Punter.

BARKER -- The football team has six players honored for post season All Star Team in the B-Class North Division. Jacob Haight was named first team All League for the second straight season for Defensive Back. Timothy Flint was named second team for Offensive Center and Austin Deopp was named second team Outside Linebacker. Players receiving Honorable Mention were Andy Xapsos, James Brady, and Chris Steves.

MIDDLEPORT -- The Football team scored four straight touchdowns to defeat Newfane 35-21 on Wednesday. Jacob Haight continued to be a force with 15 rushes for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns. Haight also kicked 3 extra points and had 41 yards passing. Tom Callaghan, Donnie Haag, and CJ Fitch all scored rushing touchdowns. Callaghan had a 41 yard reception and Brandon Lee Woods caught one for 61 yards. Tyler Dent had 2 first down catches that kept drives alive. Andy Xapsos was 3 for 6 with 71 yards passing and 25 yards rushing. The offensive line of James Brady, Elijah Haley, Tim Flint, Chris Steves, Collin Knoop, and Chris Anderson provided outstanding blocking that produced 440 yards of total offense.
The defensive was stellar with 6 sacks. James Brady and Kolbe Greenwald led the way. Kyle and Eric Herian played solid defense with some key tackles. Jeff Lyons, DJ Gardner, Dillon Mangan, Jared Shepard, Brian Payne, and Troy Lawson provided a solid performance.

Haight Celebrates Halloween Early In Beast Mode

PENDLETON -- Barker/RoyHart football team battled tough to the end at Saturday at Starpoint. With less than a minute left in the 4th quarter the offensive unit fell short of tying up the game. Jacob Haight continued to be a solid player with 166 yards rushing, and returned an interception 52 yards to give the team a 20-14 lead at the half. Haight accounted for all the team's points with 2 rushing touchdowns, a defensive touchdown, and a 2-pt conversion run.
On the defensive side of the ball CJ Fitch had a solid performance with 9 total tackles. Haight had 7 tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery. Dillon Mangan had 6 tackles, Chris Steves had 6 tackles and a fumble recovery, and Josh Mead had 7 tackles on the defensive line.
The Football team will close out their season Wednesday night at Roy-Hart against the Newfane Panthers at 6:00 PM.

WILSON -- Barker/Roy-Hart Football defeated Wilson 44-26 on Friday night. Jacob Haight had a career night with 206 yards rushing, 136 yards receiving, 5 touchdowns, and a 2 point conversion run and a pass. Haight also kicked 4 extra points. Andy Xapsos led the team in passing going 4 for 5 with 167 passing yards with 2 touchdown passes (37 and 93 yards). Brandin Lee Woods had 2 catches for 31 yards. DaRon Woods had a rushing touchdown.
Leading the defense was Dillon Mangan with 11 tackles. Haight had 7 tackles and an interception. Ryan Deopp had 4 tackles and a QB sack.

CHEEKTOWAGA -- The Football team battled through a tough game at Cheektowaga, the #8 ranked team in Western New York. on Friday night. Offensive highlights were: Jacob Haight with 3 receptions for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns and Andy Xapsos who had 104 yards passing with 2 touchdowns and scored on two 2-point conversion runs. Josh Mead was the leading rusher with 37 yards on the ground.
On the defensive side of the ball, Haight had 8 tackles, Tim Flint had 4, and James Brady had 1 tackle and a QB sack.

AMHERST -- After trailing 14-6 to the Amherst Tigers, the team battled back to draw to within 2, 14-12, at the end of the first half. The team then closed the gap to 8 in the second half when Josh Mead recorded a sack and safety on a forced fumble, but were unable to get any closer. Offensive highlights included 75 yards rushing by Josh Mead, and 43 yards rushing by Jacob Haight. Andy Xapsos connected with Brandon Lee Woods for a 34 yard touchdown pass. Woods also recorded a rushing TD. Tyler Childs scored a TD.

Offensive top performers included Jacob Haight with 44 yards rushing and 25 yards passing. Tom Callaghan had one catch for 15 yards and 25 yards rushing.

BARKER/MIDDLEPORT -- After an outstanding 2011 campaign which led to a Genesee Region Championship, the Barker/Roy-Hart Football team was forced to end Barker's 40 year history of Section V football and moved to Section VI. The 2012 season became a new challenge, not only with new teams, but a tougher league schedule. The season started out with an 0-3 record, losing to the #2 and #4 ranked teams in New York State. The team then started a new streak that included two late 4th quarter wins, and concluded with 6 straight wins: Newfane (30-20), West Seneca West (32-31), Albion (33-30), Buffalo East (34-12), Amherst (31-0), and Lackawanna (42-25). The team finished with a 6-3 overall record and 13-5 record since the Barker/Roy Hart merged Football program started at the beginning of the 2011 season.

Down 31-24 with less than 7 minutes to go, the offense drove the ball 60 yards and converted 2 fourth down plays to score on an 11 yard touchdown run by Brett Cole. The second team highlight was a come from behind victory over Albion. After Albion tied the game 30-30, with 1:30 left in the game, the offense again took over and drove the ball down the field. Jacob Haight broke loose for a 15 yard run and after an Albion personal foul was marked off, the team was in field goal range. With 3 seconds left on the game clock, Haight stepped up and kicked a 42 yard field goal to win the game. Following those two exciting games the Football Team closed out the season with 3 more victories. This included homecoming victory over East High School of Buffalo.
Individual highlights for the season include a Trench Trophy nomination for Nicholas Bachman for his outstanding offensive and defensive line play against Alden in week 1, and Brett Cole with a Connelly Cup nomination for his performance against West Seneca West in week 5. Cole had 232 yards rushing, 63 yards passing, and 35 yards receiving for 330 yards of total offense. He also scored 4 touchdowns (3 rushing and 1 passing). Haight broke the school record for longest field goal with the game winner against Albion from 42 yards out. First Team All League Awards for the B-East Division were Nicholas Bachman (offensive line), Jacob Haight (defensive back), and Brett Cole (running back). Second Team All League Awards were Brad Bobbitt (running back), Tucker Ruhlen (linebacker), Travis Kelkenberg (linebacker), and Clayton Smith (defensive line). Honorable Mention Awards were Judd Jamieson and Lukas Hanssen.

MIDDLEPORT -- The Barker/Roy-Hart Varsity Football team finished the season on Wednesday night with a 42-25 victory over Lackawana to run their winning streak to six games. Brad Bobbitt led the rushing attack with 147 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brett Cole had 174 combined yards and a touchdown while Jacob Haight had 25 yards rushing and 70 yards passing to go with 2 touchdowns and 2 extra point kicks. Judd Jamieson had a touchdown and a 2 point conversion reception.

AMHERST -- The Barker/Roy-Hart Varsity Football team led from start to finish on Thursday as they rolled over Amherst. Brad Bobbit rushed for 147 yards. Brett Cole rushed for two scores and returned an interception for another touchdown. Jacob Haight ran for an 85 yard touchdown and added a 35-yard field goal during the 31-0 shutout.
Amos Andrews had eight tackles and two sacks, while Nick Burdick had six tackles and three sacks for Barker/Roy-Hart.

BARKER -- Congratulation to Brett Cole and the Barker/Roy-Hart Varsity Football team as Cole was nominated for the William R. Connolly Cup Memorial award for his performance against West Seneca West on Friday, September 28. The Connelly Cup is an award given to the top football player in Western New York. Brett had 223 yards rushing, 54 yards receiving, a 63 yard touchdown pass, and 3 rushing touchdowns.

WEST SENECA -- The Barker/Roy-Hart Football won their second straight game on Friday, 32-31 over AA school West Seneca West. WSW entered the contest with a 2-2 record while BRH was 1-3. The team was down 31-25 with 7:20 left in the game when the offense gained possession of the football after West Sencea West punted the football. BRH ran 12 plays for 65 yards and converted on two fourth downs. Brett Cole scored the tying touchdown on an 11 yard run off key blocks by Nick Bachman, James Brady, Lukas Hassen, Clayton Smith, Tim Flint and Judd Jameison. Jacob Haight added the winning extra point kick to take make the difference in the 32-31 victory.
Individual highlights included a career performance by Brett Cole who scored three rushing touchdowns and threw a 63 yard touchdown pass to Haight. Cole also had 234 yards rushing on 16 carries and one reception for 53 yards. Brad Bobbitt chipped in with 96 yards rushing and a 2-point conversion run.

Tucker Ruhlen had two-2 point conversions while Bobbitt had one.

The Football Team Recovers On Side Kick Versus #4 Wildcats

MIDDLEPORT -- The Barker/Roy-Hart Football team lost on Friday night to the Depew Wildcats, the #4 ranked team in New York State. The Football Team was up 14-0, before Depew took command of the game after the third quarter. Brad Bobbitt scored two rushing touchdowns. The second of which came after a surprise on side kick by Jacob Haight. Brett Cole recovered the kick.
