PRINCIPAL - LETTER TO COMMUNITY
Dear Barker Central School Community,
In this season of gratitude, I want to share my sincere thanks for the incredible support and collaboration executed daily to support our Barker students and our surrounding community. My heartfelt appreciation goes out to the dedicated teachers and staff who tirelessly nurture the minds of our students. Their unwavering commitment to fostering a love of learning is evident in the growth and enthusiasm seen in our students. Their impact extends far beyond the classroom, shaping our community’s future leaders and creative thinkers. Specifically for the countless hours many teachers and staff members put in to provide additional opportunities for our students through our multitude of clubs, sports, extracurricular activities, and events throughout the school year.
Beyond our walls, we appreciate the collaborative efforts with the organizations that strengthen the bond between our school and the broader community. It is through these partnerships that we can provide a holistic and supportive environment for our students to learn and thrive. Thank you to the PTO, the Barker Lions Club, the Barker Fire Department, the Town of Somerset Police Department, and many other local organizations and businesses for their continued support of our students. Thank you to our parents, community members, and the Board of Education for your unwavering commitment to fostering an environment where every member of the Barker school community can flourish.
I would also like to take this opportunity to shine a light on the acts of kindness that our students and staff so often do to help others in need. Students collected countless food items for the local food pantry in grades PK-12th in the 7th & 8th Grade Student Council Can Drive and the Boat Load of Good campaign. Staff members and student organizations donated funds to provide turkeys to families for Thanksgiving. Staff members supported the Giving Tree initiative, purchasing gifts for families, and the eClub sponsored the Operation Christmas Child campaign. Beyond this, our community and the United Way have come together to support those in need with the Care Closet. It is wonderful to witness such powerful acts of kindness throughout our school!
There is so much for which to be thankful! Wishing you and your families a season filled with joy, gratitude, and continued success.
