Pavlock Helps Roy-Hart/Barker Swimmers To 2nd Place At Crossover Meet
February 3, 2024
ROCHESTER -- The G-R/N-O Crossover Girls’ Swim event was held on Friday, Feb 3rd. Out of 11 teams Roy-Hart/Barker placed 2nd overall with 245 points.
Madelina Pavlock was part of the 2nd place Medley Relay. Pavlock also helped the 200 Free Relay team to a 7th place finish.
In the 200 Free, Pavlock, finished 4th and Riley Klopfer was 11th. Both swimmers earned personal best times.
Pavlock had another personal best in the 500 Free, where she had a 7th place finish.
Channel Cats Register 14 Personal Best Times At All-League Meet

NEWFANE -- On Friday, the Girls Swim team traveled to Newfane for the Niagara-Orleans All-League Meet. There were 14 personal best times by the Channel Cats during the meet.
Cheyann Walker dropped 3 seconds in her 100 Free, Gloria Haller had a personal best in the 100 Fly and Madelina Pavlock had a personal best and took 4th in the 200 Free.
Girls’ Swim Team Ties Newfane

MIDDLEPORT -- On Saturday, the Girls Swim team tied visiting Newfane, 85-85. Madelina Pavlock took a pair of 2nd places finishes - 200 IM and 500 Free. Pavlock was also on the Medley Relay which also finished 2nd. The 400 Free Relay (Pavlock, Waler, Ossont, Washington) also placed 2nd.
Riley Klopfer and Cheyann Walker were part of the 2nd place 200 Free Relay.
Girls’ Swim Team Claims League Title

MIDDLEPORT -- On Tuesday, the Girls' Swim team clinched the N-O League Championship by winning all 11 events against Medina. Madelina Pavlock won her two individual events - the 200 Free and 100 Breaststroke. Pavlock was also on the Medley and 400 Free Relays.
Freshman Riley Klopfer finished 2nd in the 200 and the 500 Free. Klopfer was also on the winning 400 Free Relay. Cheyann Walker placed 2nd in the 50 Free and was on the 2nd place 200 Free Relay with teammates Karisma Washington, Shelby Dauphinee, and Hailey Pasnik.
Gloria Haller placed 2nd in the 100 Fly swimming her personal best time of the season.
5 Swimmers Improve Times In Meet At Akron
January 11, 2024
AKRON -- On Thursday, the Roy-Hart/Barker Swim team defeated Akron 54-97. Madelina Pavlock won the 500 Free in a season-best time of 6:25.72. Pavlock was also on the winning 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay.
Shelby Dauphinee had three personal best times in the 100 Fly, 50 Free, and 100 Breast.
Cheyann Walker had two personal best times in the 50 and 100 Free.
Peyton Bradley dropped time in her 50 and 100 Free.
Riley Klopfer improved her time in the 100 Backstroke.
Pavlock Wins 2 Events At Albion

ALBION -- Tuesday, the Swim team traveled to Albion. Madelina Pavlock placed in all 4 of her her events. She was part of the 1st place Medley Relay and then she won the 200 Free and finished with two 2nd place finishes in the 500 Free and the 200 Free Relay.
Cheyann Walker and Riley Klopfer took a pair of 3rd place finishes in 2 relays. Klopfer also dropped an impressive 40 seconds in her 500 Free.
Walker Drops 25 Seconds In 100 Breastroke
January 2, 2024
NEWFANE -- On Tuesday, the Barker/Roy-Hart Girls Swim team defeated Newfane 93-76. Freshman Riley Klopfer had an exceptional day in the pool, dropping 17 seconds in the 200 Freestyle and 30 seconds in the 500 Free. Klopfer was also on the 400 Free Relay that placed 2nd.
Cheyann Walker dropped 25 seconds in the 100 Breaststroke, placing 2nd and she was a member of the 2nd place 200 Free Relay team.
Gloria Haller swam the 100 Fly, placed 4th, and dropped 7 seconds from her time.
The next meet is in Albion on Tuesday, January 9th.
Haller Takes 3rd In 100 Fly

MIDDLEPORT -- The Swim team defeated Akron on Thursday and is currently undefeated in the N-O League. Madelina Pavlock won her two individual events - 500 Free and 200 IM. Pavlock was also on the winning 400 Free Relay team.
Gloria Haller took 3rd in the 100 Fly. Cheyann Walker was 4th in the 100 Free.
The next meet is Tuesday, December 19th at Medina at 5:00 PM.
200 Medley Relay Team Grabs 3rd In Regular Season Opening Meet

MIDDLEPORT -- Tuesday, the Swim team started the regular season with a win over Albion. The 200 Medley Relay of Riley Klopfer, Cheyann Walker, Gloria Haller and Shelby Dauphinee took 3rd place.
In individual events, Madelina Pavlock placed 2nd in the 200 Free and won the 500 Free. Pavlock was also a part of the winning 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays.
The next meet is Thursday, December 14th at Roy-Hart against Akron.
Pavlock Takes 1st In 500 Free

MIDDLEPORT -- On Tuesday, the Varsity Swim team hosted HAC and many Barker girls had personal best times. Madelina Pavlock was part of the 200 and 400 Free Relay that took 1st place. Pavlock also took 1st in the 500 Freestyle.
Cheyann Walker placed 2nd in the 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays.
Shelby Dauphinee and Riley Klopfer were both on the Medley and 400 Free Relay that placed 3rd.
The next meet is Tuesday, December 12th at Roy-Hart at 5:00 PM.
R-H/Barker Girls’ Swim Team Finishes 3rd At G-R/N-O Crossover Meet

ROCHESTER -- The combined Roy-Hart/Barker swim team was 3rd overall at the GR/N-O Crossover meet on Friday. Madelina Pavlock was 7th in the 500 Free. She was also part of the 7th place 200 Free Relay and the 5th place 400 Free Relay.

Varsity Girls Swim Team Wins N-O League Championship

January 19, 2023
AKRON -- Congratulations Girl's Channel Cat swimmers! The Girl's team went 8-0 this season in the Niagara-Orleans League. The undefeated Girls team won 102-66 against Akron on Thursday evening clinching the N-O League Championship! The Barker girls contributed to the win with Madelina Pavlock in the Medley Relay that took a 3rd place. Pavlock also took 4th in the 200 IM, 3rd in the 500 Free, and was on the winning 400 Free Relay.
Shelby Dauphinee was 4th in the 200 Free, and part of the 200 Free Relay that finished in 3rd place. Second year swimmer, Senior, Angelina Delgrolice swam her personal best in the 100 Freestyle and swam in both the 200 and 400 Free Relays. Alexis Dauphinee swam in 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle Relay, and 100 Butterfly. Gloria Haller took 4th in the 100 Fly and was also in the 200 & 400 free relays. Abi Socie swam in the 200 Medley & 200 Free Relay.
Delgrolice Honored On Senior Recognition Night

MIDDLEPORT -- Tuesday, the Channel Cats Swim team hosted Albion during their senior recognition meet. Angelina Delgrolice was one of the 10 seniors honored. The girls team won 96-74 and are still undefeated. Madelina Pavlock was 3rd in the 200 IM, and Shelby Dauphinee took 4th in the 500 Freestyle. The Barker quartet of Alexis Dauphinee, Abbi Socie, Gloria Haller, and Delgrolice swam the 200 Free Relay.
The girls had many personal bests and all have had great improvement this year.
The team travels to Akron on Thursday for the last meet of the regular season. Start time is 5:00.
Delgrolice Grabs 4th In 100 Free
January 10, 2023
MIDDLEPORT -- The Channel Cats won again! The girls are now 6-0 and are still undefeated in the N-O League. Tuesday night, against visiting Medina, the girls won the meet 85-54. The Barker Girls are swimming very well and have had many personal best times this season. Madelina Pavlock was 2nd in the 200 IM. Shelby Dauphinee was 3rd in 200 Free. Gloria Haller placed 2nd in 100 Fly. 4th place finishers were: Angelina Delgrolice in the 100 Free and Alexis Dauphinee in the 500 Free. Alexis Dauphinee dropped over 11 seconds for a personal best time. Pavlock was also part of the winning 400 Free Relay.
Tuesday, January 17th is Senior Day when the team hosts Albion at 5:00 PM.
Alexis Dauphinee Contributes In Win Over Newfane

MIDDLEPORT -- Thursday, the Girls Swim team won, 108-60, against visiting Newfane. The Girls remain undefeated in the league with three more league matches to go. Madelina Pavlock took 2nd in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke. Teammates Shelby Dauphinee took two 4th place finishes in both the 200 and the 100 Freestyle. Alexis Dauphinee took 4th in the 500 Free. Pavlock was also part of the winning 400 Free Relay and her Medley Relay team placed 3rd. Alexis Dauphinee was also part of that relay. The 200 Free Relay team including Alexis Dauphinee and Shelby Dauphinee placed 3rd. Gloria Haller and Angelina Delgrolice were part of the 4th place relay. The last relay of the evening finished 2nd with Shelby Dauphinee as part of the team. Delgrolice and Haller were on the relay that placed 4th.
The Girls team won 108-60. The next meet is Tuesday against Medina at Roy-Hart.
Pavlock Nabs 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Against Akron
January 3, 2023
MIDDLEPORT -- The RBL Channel Cats clinched a double win as both the boys and girls teams defeated Akron on Tuesday. The Barker girls had many personal best times in all their events.
Madelina Pavlock took 3rd in the 200 IM and 100 Freestyle. Pavlock was also part of the 1st place 200 Free Relay with teammates Karisma Washington, Nadia White, and Julia Miles. The team of Alexis Dauphinee, Hannah Giroux, Angelina Delgrolice, and Kendyll Kidney placed 4th. The last relay of the evening was Pavlock, Alexis Seib, Ava Achtyl, and Abigail Glyshaw in 2nd place, while the team of Shelby Dauphinee, Amelia Konstanty, Jillian Ossont, and Lillian Stanczyk finished in 3rd place.
The girls' team remains undefeated after the 101-67 victory.
The next meet is on Thursday at Roy-Hart when the team hosts Newfane at 5:00.
Alexis Dauphinee Helps 2 Relays Collect Points At Albion
December 20, 2022
ALBION -- Tuesday night at Albion the RBL Channel Cats Swim team took wins for both the girls’ and boys’ teams.
Taking first in the 500 Free and swimming to a personal best time was Madelina Pavlock. The 200 Relay of Alexis Dauphinee, Gloria Haller, Angelina Delgrolice, and Cora Lennon took a third place finish.
The team of Hailey Pasnik, Alexis Dauphinee, Jillian Ossont, and Shelby Dauphinee also placed third in the last relay of the evening.
The girls won 62-31 to remain undefeated.
Pavlock Wins 500 Free At Medina
December 13, 2022
MEDINA -- On Tuesday, the RBL Swim team traveled to Medina, and brought home wins for both the boys and girls team. The Lady Channel Cats won 10 out of 11 events. The 200 Medley Relay of Madelina Pavlock, Abigail Glyshaw, Karmisa Washington, and Alexis Seib started off the meet.
Double winners were Senior Nadia White in both the 50 and 100 Free. Glyshaw took the 200 IM and 100 Breastroke.
Freshman Pavlock won the 500 Freestyle as a Channel Cat and was part of the 400 Free Relay that finished the meet.
Alexis Dauphinee did her personal best, swimming the 500 and dropping over 30 seconds in her swim.
The team travels to Albion on Tuesday for a 5:00 start.
Santarsiero Eyes Record In Section VI Race
February 12, 2022
CLARENCE -- The Varsity Boys Swim team competed in the Section VI Class C Championships on Saturday. Finishing in the top 4 in both of his individual events was Ryan Santarsiero by earning personal records in both the 200 Free and 100 Breaststroke and taking 4th and 2nd place respectively.
Santarsiero is presently 15 hundredths of a second away from the school record in Breaststroke and has one last chance on Tuesday night at the Section VI Championships.
Team Closes Out Season at GR/N-O Meet
February 5, 2022
ROCHESTER -- Over the weekend, four members of the Varsity Girls Swim team participated in the GR-NO intersectional swim championships in Rochester. Madelina Pavlock, Peyton Bradley, Emma Evans, and senior Emma McGrath all represented Barker in this lively end of season competition. Pavlock earned a personal best in the 50 Freestyle and Emma McGrath made her final competition a memorable one.
Girls Swim Team Earns Sportsmanship Award

NEWFANE -- On Wednesday, the Varsity Girls Swim team competed in the Niagara-Orleans All-League Championships.The team enjoyed
the energy of the large setting and racked up 7 personal records in the pool. In addition, the girls were awarded the N-O League Sportsmanship Award.
Moving on to the N-O/GR Crossover
Championships in Rochester next week will be Emma McGrath, Emma Evans, Madelina Pavlock, and Peyton
Bradley.
Sportsmanship Award & Two 1st Place Finishes for Santarsiero
January 24, 2022
NEWFANE -- The Varsity Boys Swim team competed in the All-League Championships on Monday night at Newfane. Some remarkable swims were had by all the boys who earned personal records in one or more events. The team of Brent Johnson, Drew Sandolfini, Zack Santarsiero, and Ryan Santarsiero earned the league Sportsmanship Award for this year.
To top off the great night, Ryan Santarsiero took 1st place in both the 100 Freestyle and the 200 Freestyle races. He has now qualified in both events for sectional competition in February.
Boys Win 5 of 11 Events At Sectionals Meet

BARKER & HAMBURG -- The athletes persevered through a most unusual season and finished on a high note with a whopping total of 39 personal best times at the Girls All-League on February 22nd, the Boys All League meet on February 24th, and an additional 14 earned by the boys at their Sectional meet at Frontier High School on March 5th.
Girls All League:
- Natalie Bruning placed 3rd in the 200 Freestyle and 4th in the Backstroke.
- The Medley Relay team of Bruning, Alexa Zglinicki, Emma Evans, and Madelina Pavlock placed 5th.
- Collected 21 of the 39 personal best times by swimming hard and cheering loud.
- It was nice to see some live spectators at this event.
Boys All League:
- Ryan Santarsiero placed 1st in the Individual Medley and 2nd in the Breaststroke.
- Ryan Stevener placed 3rd in Backstroke and 4th in 50 Free.
- The Medley Relay team of Stevener, Santarsiero, Drew Sandolfini, and Zachary Hill took 2nd place by shaving 3 seconds off their personal best time.
- The 400 Free Relay of Stevener, Hill, Will Goodlander, and Santarsiero placed 3rd.
Sectionals:
- Designed in team brackets this year instead of individual event rankings, so our boys traveled to Frontier for our only live meet and competed against a team twice our size.
- Managed to win 5 out of the 11 events.
- Clocked 14 personal best times.
- Ryan Santarsiero managed to close a 10 yard gap in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a photo finish and 1st place.
- Santarsiero’s race to the school record in Breaststroke will have to wait until next year. He remains 0.25 seconds away, giving us a great starting point for next season.
- Honorable Mention for this meet to Larry Toni who was swimming his fastest time ever in the 100 Freestyle.
- All of the boys represented Barker in a way that makes us all proud!

Swimmers Close Out Regular Season Over Mid-Winter Break

BARKER -- The Varsity swim team competed in several swim meets just prior to and over the February break. Many swimmers performed well in several events. The highlights of the most memorable results from the meets were:
- Five 1st place finishes against Medina: Drew Sandolfini, Boys 200 Free Relay, Natalie Bruning, Ryan Stevener, and Emma McGrath.
- Nine 2nd place finishes against Medina: Girls Medley Relay (Bruning, Sam Mace, McGrath, and Madelina Pavlock), Bruning, Emma Evans, McGrath, Ryan Santarsiero, Will Goodlander, Girls 200 Free Relay (Alexa Zglinicki, Addison Szafranski, Mace, Evans), Girls 400 Free Relay (Pavlock, Zglinicki, McGrath, Bruning).
- Against Newfane there were six 1st place finishes: Boys Medley Relay, Will Goodlander, Santarsiero (twice), Zach Hill, and the Boys 400 Free Relay.
- Ten 2nd place finishes against Newfane: Girls Medley Relay, Sandolfini, Pavlock, Evans, Goodlander, Girls 200 Free Relay, Bruning, Stevener, and Brent Johnson.
- The highlight of the Newfane meet was the combined efforts of all the boys, especially the trio of Santarsiero, Johnson, and Larry Toni who took 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in 100 Breaststroke to secure the win.
- Against Akron there were five 1st place finishes: Boys Medley Relay, Goodlander, and Santarsiero (twice).
- Five 2nd place finishes against Akron: Evans, Stevener, Bruning, Goodlander, and the Boys 400 Free Relay.
- Against Roy-Hart there were six 1st place finishes: Bruning, Santarsiero (twice), Boys 200 Free Relay, Bruning, and Stevener.
- Three 2nd place finishes against Akron: Girls and Boys Medley Relays, and Bruning.
Boys and girls All League meets will take place on February 22nd and 24th, respectively followed by boys sectionals the following week. Highlights will be reported once the official results are available.
Bruning Grabs Two First Place Finishes
February 4, 2021
BARKER -- It’s hard to imagine that the team has already completed half of it's regular season this week after meets against Newfane, Akron, and Medina. The 14 members of the team have been fine tuning their strokes, turns, starts, and finishes to accomplish an astounding 38 personal best times just this week. Zach Hill, Addison Szafranski, and Lina Pavlock own 20 of those 38 best times.
In addition, there were several 2nd place finishes for the girls in the Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay, Alexa Zglinicki’s Backstroke, Emma Evans’ Individual Medley, and Emma McGrath’s 50 Free and 100 Back. Natalie Bruning had two 1st place finishes in the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke.
More boys were able to compete this week with some 1st place finishes by Ryan Santarsiero in the 50 Free, 100 Breaststroke, 200 IM. There was also a 1st place finish in the 50 Free by Ryan Stevener. Second place finishes were Will Goodlander in the 200 Free and Ryan Stevener in the 100 Back as well as all 3 relay teams. 3rd place finishes were made by Brent Johnson in the 100 Breast and Drew Sandolfini in the 200 IM.
The 5th meet is this Saturday at 9:00 AM and will be live streamed through the swim team link on the Barker athletics page.
Virtual Meets Take Place For 2021 Swim Season

BARKER -- Several adjustments were made this year to allow the Varsity Swim Team to begin their 2021 season. Thanks to all of the staff and students who made this possible!
Our kids are competing in virtual swim meets which are now being streamed live on YouTube. The link can be found on the Varsity Swim Team page under the Barker Athletics section of the school website. Meets are Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 4:30 and Saturday mornings at 9:00. Although you won’t see our opponents in the pool, the rest of the meet runs as normal as possible and you can get a real time view.
Enjoy these stats from week 1:
- Madelina Pavlock debuted in 50 Free, 100 Free, and Freestyle relay taking one 2nd place and three 3rd place finishes.
- Addison Szafranski debuted in 50 Free and 100 Freestyle.
- Emma Evans debuted in 200 Individual Medley, 500 Freestyle, Medley Relay, Freestyle relay, and 100 Breaststroke. She had five 2nd place finishes.
- Alexa Zglinicki swam the Medley Relay and the Freestyle Relay, the 200 Free, and 100 Backstroke. She had five 2nd place finishes and a personal best of 26.75 seconds on her 50 Freestyle leg in the Relay.
- Emma McGrath swam the Medley and Freestyle Relays, 50 Free, and 100 Breaststroke. She had seven 2nd place finishes.
- Sam Mace swam the 100 Freestyle and the 100 Breaststroke.
Natalie Bruning swam the Individual Medley, Medley Relay, Freestyle Relay, the 200 Free, and the 100 Backstroke. She had four 1st and four 2nd place finishes.
The boys team had several swimmers who were yet eligible to compete so their stats are brief:
- Larry Toni swam Freestyle events including 1 relay and the 100 Backstroke and had one 2nd place finish.
- Zachary Hill debuted with Freestyle events including 1 relay and had one 2nd place finish.
- Brent Johnson swam Freestyle events including 1 relay and had one 2nd place finish.
- Ryan Santarsiero swam Freestyle events, Relays, and 100 Breaststroke. He had three 1st place finishes and one 2nd place finish. Santarsiero's most notable swim was his 100 Breaststroke on Saturday where he produced a personal best time and was less than 1 second away from the school record.
Relays Take 5th Place At Section VI Class C Championships
February 8, 2020
CHEEKTOWAGA -- Over the weekend, four boys from the Varsity Swim Team competed in the Section VI Class C Championships at Maryvale High School. The boys swam against the strongest swimmers from smaller schools across the section. Alex Jenks placed 7th overall in the 100 Freestyle while Ryan Stevener and Tyler Cirillo finished in 15th and 16th place respectively in the 50 Freestyle finals.
In all three relays, the team of Stevener, Cirillo, Jenks and Ryan Santarsiero finished in 5th place after some incredibly tight races. Overall, the boys representing the 2nd smallest school in the Section VI swim community managed to earn 99 points and secured 9th place out of 16 schools within the class.
Many thanks go out to Drew Sandolfini as well for continuing to work out and travel with the team as our alternate. On Wednesday, the team will conclude the swim season with the Section VI Championships at the University of Buffalo. Good luck to all the aforementioned swimmers in the events they just competed in, as well as Santarsiero in the 100 Breaststroke.
Girls Close Out Season With 3 Personal Best Times At All League

AKRON -- On Friday, the Varsity Girls Swim team represented Barker at the Niagara-Orleans League Swim Championships.There were many exciting events and several school and league records broken by swimmers from all over the league. Our Barker swimmers may not have broken any records, but the following girls continued to make Barker proud as they worked on individual goals and teamwork. Three personal best times were recorded:
- The Medley relay team of Kailtlynn Dauphinee, Alexa Zglinicki, Emma McGrath, and Abby Wilson cut close to 3 seconds off their time.
- McGrath dropped over 1 second off her 100 Breaststroke.
- The 400 Free Relay team of Dauphinee, Zglinicki, McGrath, and Wilson shaved 17 seconds off their best time.
Sam Mace and MacKenzie Dodge each competed in one event to finish off the evening.
The Boys Varsity team will continue their championship rounds at the Section VI Class C Preliminaries on Thursday, February 6th and the Finals will take place on Saturday. Alex Jenks, Tyler Cirillo, Ryan Santarsiero, Ryan Stevener, and Drew Sandolfini will all compete for the Raiders.
Santarsiero Is League Champion In 100 Breaststroke

AKRON -- Congratulations go out to all of the boys from the Varsity Swim team for an outstanding performance at Niagara-Orleans Championships on Wednesday night. In all, 20 personal best times were recorded from Alex Jenks, Ryan Stevener, Ryan Santarsiero, Tyler Cirillo, Brent Johnson, Drew Sandolfini, Will Goodlander, and Larry Toni. All 5 relay teams finished with personal best times; with the Medley Relay team taking 3rd and the 200 Free Relay team taking 2nd place.
In the individual events, Jenks took 3rd in the 100 Freestyle, Santarsiero took 2nd in the Individual Medley, and in a photo finish Santarsiero snatched 1st place in the 100 Breaststroke.
The coaches thank all of the boys for their hard work this season and look forward to continued success as Santarsiero, Stevener, Cirillo, Jenks and Sandolfini move on to Class C and Sectional competitions.
The girls will compete on Friday, January 31st in the league championships which are also at Akron. Start time is 5:30 PM.
Senior Swimmers Honored In Final Home Meet Of Season

BARKER -- On Saturday, the Varsity Swim team finished the regular season by hosting Medina. The four senior class swimmers were honored in a special ceremony. It was a special setting as many were in attendance to support Abby Wilson, Kaitlynn Dauphinee, Tyler Cirillo, and Alex Jenks. Coach Strong and Coach Calandra are looking forward to an exciting post season with All League, Crossover, and Sectional meets still to come.
All of the swimmers made personal gains this season; even at the end when it becomes more difficult to beat your best times: Cirillo shaved time off his 50 Freestyle and competed in his first 200 Individual Medley. Drew Sandolfini took significant time off his 50 Freestyle and 200 Individual Medley. Ryan Stevener cut 6 seconds off his 200 Freestyle and had a personal best in the 50 Free. Larry Toni had a personal best in the 100 Freestyle for two consecutive meets and Jenks managed to get his 50 Free down to 24.03 seconds. Brent Johnson trimmed time off his 50 Free and dropped 8 seconds off his 500 Free.
For the girls, Alexa Zglinicki continued to drop time in her 50 Free and 50 Breaststroke. Emma McGrath had a personal best in the 100 Breaststroke and Dauphinee took time off her 50 Backstroke and her 500 Free.
Busy & Successful Meet For Zglinicki At Newfane

NEWFANE -- On Tuesday night, the Varsity Swim team competed in Newfane with a very close match up for the boys, who came up short by just three points. To end the meet, the 400 Freestyle Relay team of Alex Jenks, Tyler Cirillo, Ryan Stevener and Ryan Santarsiero took first place and qualified for sectionals with a time of 3:48.49. This marks our 3rd Boys’ event to qualify.
Drew Sandolfini, Larry Toni, Lucas Flegal, Will Goodlander and Brent Johnson contributed great swims and earned much needed points for the team.
On the Girls’ side, Abby Wilson took first place in the 50 Free, Emma McGrath took 2nd in the 50 Free and Alexa Zglinicki participated in her first ever Individual Medley race and finished in 3rd place. Kaitlynn Dauphinee finished 3rd in the 500 Free, Zglinicki took 2nd in the 100 Backstroke and McGrath took 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke. The medley relay team of Zglinicki, Samantha Mace, McGrath and Wilson finished in 3rd and the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Zglinicki, McGrath, Dauphinee and Wilson took 2nd place.
As is always the case, Mackenzie Dodge worked hard in the water and on the deck cheering fellow swimmers on.
The next meet is Thursday at Albion.
Santarsiero In On Two Victories At Medina

MEDINA -- On Tuesday, the Varsity Swim team competed in Medina. Ryan Santarsiero won the 200 IM, Alex Jenks won the 50 Free and the relay team of Jenks, Ryan Stevener, Tyler Cirillo and Ryan Santarsiero won the 200 Free Relay as well. Lucas Flegal, Larry Toni, and Drew Sandolfini added three more personal best times to make our team total of 100.
The next meet is at home against Roy-Hart on Thursday, January 9th.

AKRON -- The Varsity Swim team finished off 2019 with a remarkable performance at Akron. True teamwork was evident from both the boys’ and girls’ teams. A special shout out to Brent Johnson who completed two daunting events only to turn around and compete in the 200 Relay with very little recovery time. Johnson and Lucas Flegal started off the relay; working hard to give their team a chance at a much needed 2nd place finish. Drew Sandolfini then magically closed a 15 yard gap which gave Will Goodlander a chance to pull ahead of Akron and seal the deal. That 2nd place finish allowed the boys to come from behind and defeat Akron 82-79.
2019 provided tremendous growth in skill and speed with 97 personal best times between the girls’ and boys’ teams. The teams look forward to starting off 2020 with two big meets: Tuesday, 1/7 in Medina and Thursday, 1/9 at home against Roy Hart.
Flegal Sets Personal Best In 200 Free

BARKER -- On Tuesday, the Varsity Swim team hosted Albion, and although they were outnumbered 3:1, the swimmers from both the boys’ and girls’ teams performed their personal best across several events. For the girls: Emma McGrath achieved a personal best in the 200 Freestyle by shaving 10 seconds off her previous record. In addition, she had a personal best in 100 Breaststroke and 50 Free. Alexa Zglinicki also had outstanding races in the 100 Backstroke and her leg of the 100 Freestyle Relay. Kaitlyn Dauphinee earned a personal best in her part of the 100 Free Relay. Abby Wilson also had a personal best in the 50 Free.
On the boys side Lucas Flegal had a personal best in the 200 Free, and Will Goodlander shaved off time in the 50 and 100 Free. Drew Sandolfini and Ryan Santarsiero had personal best times in the 100 Breaststroke. Ryan Stevener had a personal best in the 200 Free while Larry earned his personal best in the 50 Free. Last, but certainly not least was Tyler Cirillo, earning a PB in the 50 Free with a phenomenal time of 26.31 seconds.
Barker will travel to Akron for a 4:30 contest with the Tiger Sharks.
Cirillo And Stevener Qualify For Sectionals

BARKER -- Barker hosted Newfane on Thursday in what turned out to be a remarkable night for swimmers from both the girls and boys teams. The girls Medley Relay of Alexa Zglinicki, Samantha Mace, Emma McGrath, and Kaitlynn Dauphinee took 2nd place.
Both Dauphinee and Will Goodlander took second in the 200 Freestyle. Ryan Santarsiero and Alex Jenks finished 1st and 3rd in the 200 IM. Zglinicki took 1st in the girls 50 Freestyle while Ryan Stevener and Tyler Cirillo took 1st and 2nd. Cirillo and Stevener qualified for Class C Sectionals. Drew Sandolfini pulled off a 3rd place finish in the 100 Butterfly and grabbed a 2nd place in the 100 Breaststroke. Santarsiero piled on the points with another 1st place finish in the 100 Breaststroke.
In the girls 100 Freestyle, Abby Wilson took 1st, and McGrath took 3rd with a personal best performance. For the boys, Jenks finished 1st, Cirillo took 2nd; both with a personal best. The 500 Free was dominated by Goodlander with another 1st place finish while Brent Johnson and Lucas Flegal supported him in the water by taking on the big yards also.
The boys were able to seal the deal by taking 1st and 3rd place in the 200 Free Relay. Great teamwork was demonstrated by all of the swimmers.
The teams will host Albion on Tuesday at 4:30 PM.
Wilson Grabs 3 First Place Finishes vs. Notre Dame

BARKER -- The Varsity Swim team hosted Notre Dame Tuesday night. The boys 200 Medley Relay team of Ryan Stevener, Ryan Santarsiero, Alex Jenks, and Tyler Cirillo finished in 1st place and qualified for sectionals.
Other great swims for the boys included: Drew Sandolfini - 100 Butterfly, Lucas Flegal - 100 Freestyle, and Brent Johnson 100 Breaststroke.
Last, but certainly not least, many thanks go out to Will Goodlander and Larry Toni for demonstrating their team spirit and stamina in the water.
On the girls side senior Abby Wilson had a personal best three 1st place finishes. Mackenzie Dodge had a personal best in the 50 Freestyle by shaving over 5 seconds off her time. Alexa Zglinicki had two 1st place finishes and the Freestyle Relay team of Emma McGrath, Dodge, Zglinicki, and Wilson finished in first place. Senior, Kaitlyn Dauphinee left everyone in suspense by finishing her 500 Freestyle within a half second of her competitior.
The next meet is Tuesday, December 10th @ Roy-Hart.
Santarsiero Comes Up Big At Class C Championships

BUFFALO -- The Boys Varsity Swim team competed in the Section VI Class C Championships on Thursday and Friday and swam exceptionally well. The team posted a record 20 best times over the two day meet. The Medley Relay consisting of Ryan Stevener, Dominic Clementi, Ryan Santarsiero and Alex Jenks teamed up to place 4th and earned a sectional patch.
Santarsiero, a freshman, led the team going 8 for 8 as he swam a best time in all 8 of his events. Stevener was second with 5 best times. Clementi, Jenks, Michael Dalton and Tyler Cirillo also earned best times.
The team ends their season on Wednesday, February 13th when they travel to the University at Buffalo to compete in the Section VI Championships.

BUFFALO -- The Varsity Swim team competed in the Section VI Class C Championship Preliminaries on Thursday night at Erie Community College. The team swam fast and had multiple best times. Alex Jenks, Dominic Clementi, and Ryan Santarsiero will swim in the Championship Finals in their individual events. All three relays will be swimming in the final heat as well. The team will travel to City Honors to swim in the finals on Friday.

Solid Performance By Santarsiero At All-League Meet

AKRON -- The Boys Varsity Swim team traveled to Akron on Wednesday night to compete in the Niagara-Orleans Boys All-League Meet. Ryan Santarsiero touched 2nd in the 200 Individual Medley while teaming with Dominic Clementi, Ryan Stevener and Alex Jenks to place 3rd in the 200 Medley Relay. Jenks, Santarsiero, Clementi and Michael Dalton teamed up to finish 2nd in the 200 Free Relay.
Personal best times were recorded by Ryan Stevener, Alex Jenks, Tyler Cirillo and William Goodlander. The boys will compete at the Class Championships on Thursday, January 31st at the ECC Flickinger Center. Competition time for the Barker swimmers is 2:00 PM.

AKRON -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Akron on Wednesday night and dropped both contests to the Tigers. Both Barker teams were outnumbered, but they still managed to total 8 best times. William Goodlander and Ryan Santarsiero both shaved off 9 seconds each in the 500 freestyle. Goodlander continuing with a best time in the 200 Free. Jessica Haseley and Samantha Mace continue to lower their times in the 100 Breaststroke and Ryan Stevener touched first in the 100 Backstroke with a personal best time as well.

BARKER -- The Barker Swim teams played host to the Albion Purple Eagles on Thursday night and also held their annual Senior Recognition Night. The Raiders recognized Shelby Ewald, Paige Sandolfini, Jessica Haseley, Dominic Clementi and Michael Dalton. The seniors combined for 19 seasons on the Varsity Swim team. They will be missed.
During the meet the Lady Raiders were led by first place finishers Natalie Bruning, Jessica Haseley, and Ewald. Sandolfini and Samantha Mace joined Bruning and Ewald and touched first in the 200 Medley Relay.
William Goodlander, Brent Johnson and Dalton provided quality efforts for the boys team. The swimmers produced over 14 best times.

MIDDLEPORT -- On Saturday the Barker Raiders Swim teams traveled to Roy-Hart to take on the Roy-Hart Channel Cats. The Lady Raiders were led by Natalie Bruning's first place finish in the 100 backstroke. Jessica Haseley had two personal best times and Kaitlynn Dauphinee provided one personal best time.

BARKER -- The Raiders played host in the pool to the Medina Mustangs on Thursday night, and even though they were outnumbered and lost both contests, Barker still came away with 18 personal best times. The Lady Raiders were led by Natalie Bruning's first place finish in the 100 Backstroke. Leading the way with four personal best times was Jessica Haseley while Abby Wilson pitched in with two.
The boys were led by Ryan Santarsiero's first place finish in the 500 Freestyle. Michael Dalton provided three personal best times while Santarsiero added two.
The team will go for a win and more best times as they travel to Roy-Hart on Saturday and take on the Channel Cats.
Jenks Is Double Winner Against Akron

BARKER -- The Barker Raiders Swim teams hosted the Akron Tiger Sharks on Thursday night and came away with a split. The boys had an early Christmas present as they captured 8 of 11 first place finishes. Double winners for the Raiders were Dominic Clementi - 100 Fly and 100 Breaststroke, and Alex Jenks - 50 Free and 100 Free. Ryan Stevener added a win in the 100 Backstroke. The boys are now 2-2 on the season.
On the girls side, Natalie Bruning recorded a first place finish in the 100 Backstroke.
Both teams combined for over 10 personal best times. The teams will be back the pool for competition on Thursday, January 3rd at home against Medina at 4:30 PM.

Boys Swim Team Grabs 7 First Place Finishes In Season Opener

ALEXANDER -- The Varsity Raiders Swim teams visited Alexander on Friday and opened the non-league portion of the schedule. The Lady Raiders were led by first place finishers: Abby Wilson, 50 Free; Chloe Goodlander, 100 Free; Natalie Bruning, 100 Backstroke; Jessica Haseley, 100 Breaststroke. Kaitlynn Dauphinee also contributed with a best time in the 500 Free.
The boys swam to 7 first place finishes. Ryan Stevener, Dominic Clementi, Ryan Santarsiero, and Alex Jenks teamed up to win the 200 Medley Relay. Stevener and Clementi, along with Drew Sandolfini and Michael Dalton captured first in the 200 Free Relay. Double winners were Clementi in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Breastroke, and Ryan Santarsariero in the 200 Individual Medley and 500 Free. Jenks also won the 50 Free.
Both teams kept the competitions close but were unable to overcome the depth of the Alexander teams. The next meet is Friday at home versus Attica @ 4:30 PM.
Webb Closes Out High School Swim Career At States

EAST MEADOW, NY -- Collin Webb traveled to New York City over the weekend to compete in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Federation Championship meet. Webb swam well and finished 44th and 57th in New York State in the 50 and 100 Free events, respectively. Congratulations go out to Webb for qualifying to swim at the State meet for the past 2 seasons and for setting new school records in the process.
Wagner, Webb, Jenks & Clementi Break 400 Free Relay School Record At Section VI Championships

Webb qualified for the New York State Meet for the second consecutive year. The four boys broke the school record in the 400 Free Relay and will return to UB for the finals in 5 events on Friday.

CHEEKTOWAGA -- The Barker Raiders Swim team traveled to Maryvale High School on Saturday and competed in the Section VI Class C Championship meet. The team captured 3 individual championships and 2 relays for a total of 5 first place finishes and 1 second place finish. Collin Webb was victorious in the 50 Free and 100 Free while Andrew Jenks swam to first place in the 200 IM. Webb and Jenks teamed up with Dominic Clementi and Adam Wagner to win the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay. The boys set a new school record in the 200 Medley Relay. Clementi swam a personal best time in the 100 Breastroke where he took second. Clementi also was 6th in the 50 Free.
Other results from the championships were: Adam Wagner - 7th in the 200 Freestyle; Ryan Santarsiero - 7th in 200 IM and 10th in the 500 Free; Alex Jenks - 13th in both the 50 Free and 100 Free; Joe Baronich - 8th in the 200 IM and 20th in the 100 Breaststroke; Michael Dalton - 24th in the 200 Free and Ryan Stevener 18th in the 100 Backstroke. Webb was voted Swimmer of the Meet by the coaches for his outstanding performance of 4 titles.

Menz & Gendrue Close Out Swim Careers At GR/N-O Crossover Meet

ROCHESTER -- The Girls Varsity Swim team competed in their last meet of the season on Friday at Gates Chili High School in the GR/N-O Championship meet. The team swam to a 6th place finish out of 14 teams. They were led by senior captains Natalie Menz and Sara Gendrue who both captured a third-place finish: Menz in the 50 Free and Gendrue in the 100 Breaststroke. The two also teamed up with Katrina Clare and Natalie Bruning to take third in the 200 Medley Relay. Bruning was 6th in the 100 Backstroke. Gendrue finished in 6th place in the 100 Individual Medley. Clare and Fazzolari had strong meets as they both recorded multiple season best times.
Gendrue Defends All League Title

NEWFANE -- The Girls Varsity Swim team traveled to Newfane on Friday and competed in the Niagara-Orleans League Championships. Barker's team broke one school record, captured one title, had two runner-up finishes and one third place finish. The quartet of Natalie Bruning, Sara Gendrue, Chloe Goodlander, and Natalie Menz started off the meet by setting a new school record in the 200 Free Relay while placing second.
Sara Gendrue defended her league title in the 100 Breaststroke and placed second in the 200 Individual Medley. Natalie Menz reached the podium as a second-place finisher in the 50 Freestyle and teamed up with Gendrue, Katrina Clare, and Bruning to place third in the 400 Free Relay. Additionally, Lena Fazzolari, Bruning, Clare, and Menz all had personal best times.
Webb Is Four Time N-O League Champion
The depth of the Roy-Hart team proved too much for the Lady Raiders as they fell to the Rams by a score of 102-64. First place finishes for Barker where Sara Gendrue and Natalie Menz. Natalie Bruning, Chloe Goodlander, Carla Stoloski and Katrina Clare teamed up with Menz and Gendrue to win in the 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays.
Both teams are now 1-1 in league play. Next up for the Raiders is Akron on Tuesday at Akron.
The meet results were a split decision as the boys won, but the girls fell short to the perennial Niagara-Orleans League Champions. The season record for the girls is 7-6 while the boys sit at 8-5 with one more dual meet. The final meet will be at home vs. Medina on Friday, January 20th and it will be Senior Recognition Night.

The boys took the first 8 events as they played spoiler to Medina’s effort to finish second in the league. Collin Stevener, Ian Goodlander, Andrew Jenks, and Collin Webb started with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay. Webb, Goodlander, and Jenks also teamed up with Kevin Biggs to win the 200 Free Relay. Doubling up in the individual events were Webb - 50 and 100 Free; Jenks - 200 I.M. and 500 Free. Providing other wins were Adam Wagner in the 200 Free and Collin Stevener in the 100 Fly. The boys are 4-6 in league competition and 7-7 overall.
CHEEKTOWAGA -- The Boys Varsity Swim team competed in the Class C Championship meet on Saturday and finished a respectable 7th out of 16 teams. The 200 Medley Relay of Brian Alt, Tyler Swann, John Stansbury, and Casey Webb swam a season best time and finished in fourth place which was good enough to earn a sectional patch. Alt swam a personal best time in the 100 Backstroke finishing third while setting a new school record, also good for a sectional patch.
Achieving personal best times at the event were Zach Shaft in the 100 and 200 Free; Nick Israel 100 Back and 50 Free; Tyler Swann 50 Free; Nolan Bouchane 100 Breaststroke; Casey Webb 50 and 100 Free; Zach Smolinsky 100 Free.
The team will now wait until Tuesday to find out if they will be competing at sectionals and state qualifiers this Friday at Clarence.

The team posted 6 personal best times at the meet and also had strong performances by seventh graders Collin Webb and Andrew Jenks. The next meet is the Class C Championship on Saturday at Maryvale High School.
Also, seventh grader Sara Gendrue placed 9th in the 100 Breaststroke and eighth grader Anie Carestia placed 19th in the breaststroke. The team now says good-bye and best of luck in the future to seniors Amanda Austin, Ruth Gendrue, and Meghan Menz. The work ethic, positive attitude and contributions of these three swimmers to the Barker Swim program will be missed.
AKRON -- The Niagara-Orleans League Girls Championship Meet was held in Akron on Tuesday night where the Lady Raiders swam 11 of their best times. Ribbon winners were Ruth Gendrue who was 3rd in the 200 IM and 5th in the 500 Free, Hayley Richbart who earned 2nd place with a personal best time in the 100 Breaststroke, Emma Jenks was 5th in the 50 Free and 6th in the 100 Free, and Madison Greenwald who took 4th in the 50 Free with a personal best time.
Both 200 Medley Relay teams had best times. Elise Zapp, Sara Gendrue, Allie Austin and Madison Greenwald placed 3rd in their heat while Brooke Targus, Hayley Richbart, Meghan Menz, and Emma Jenks placed 5th. The last event of the evening, the 400 Relay, swam by Erin Greenwald, Allie Austin, Emma Fox, and Anie Carestia earned a best time and placed 3rd in their heat.
The last meet of the season will be this Friday at Akron for the N-O/GR Crossover meet. Start time is 6:00 pm.
Next up is All League and sectionals.
The boys continued their winning ways by claiming 7 first place finishes. Brian Alt and Casey Webb were both double winners with personal best times. As with the girls, the meet came down to the last relay and the Barker team of John Stansbury, Zach Smolinsky, Zach Shaft and Brian Alt secured the win.
The depth of both teams continues to contribute to the victories. Specifically, Nick Israel, Alonzo St. Louis, Alex Goodlander, Anie Carestia, Madison Greenwald and Erin Greenwald.
The next meet is Thursday against Newfane. The team will recognize the seniors prior to the contest.
The next meet is against Akron on Thursday at 4:30.
The boys were out to avenge their only loss of season on Thursday. The meet started off great as Barker won the Medley Relay. The Raiders also won the 200 Free Relay and Brain Alt won the 100 Backstroke. Barker was able to keep it close as their depth and versatility showed. The boys are currently in second place in the N-O League with both losses coming at the hands of Roy-Hart. The girls are in fourth.
The next swim meet is Tuesday against Albion.
The boys team swept 8 of 11 first place events recording their first season sweep of the Mustang team in years. The boys were led by Brian Alt, Zack Shaft, Casey Webb, Zach Smolinsky and John Stansbury. Outstanding performances by Alonzo St. Louis, Nick Israel, Donavan Haag, Nolan Bouchane and Alexander Goodlander sealed the win.
The boys are now 8–2 and the girls 6–4. The next meet is Thursday at 4:30 at Roy-Hart.
NEWFANE -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Newfane on Thursday night and came away with a split. The guys mixed up the line-up and swam to a 104–60 victory by taking 9 of 11 first places. Zach Shaft won the 200 IM, Casey Webb the 50 Free, Nolan Bouchane the 100 Breast, John Stansbury the 100 Fly, and Brian Alt was a double winner in the 200 Free and 100 Back. Also, grabbing points for the guys were Collin Webb, Alex Goodlander, Dustin Walters, and Patrick Desmarias.
The girls team swam fast, but were no match for the league leaders. Some of the young swimmers that stood out were Melissa Pestinger, Allison Austin, Brooke Targus, Maya Gooding, Madison Greenwald, and Renee Levy.
The next meet is Tuesday at home against Medina.
AKRON -- The Varsity Swim teams split with Akron last night. The boys touched out Akron with an 88-82 win as Brian Alt swam the final leg of the 400 Relay. Alt followed Zack Smolinsky, John Stansbury, and Zach Shaft. Casey Webb swam his best time to win the 50 Free in 24.69 seconds.
The girls fought hard, but the night ended with a 91-79 loss. Renee Levy and Hayley Richbart each had a first place finish along with the 200 Free Relay team of included Levy, Meghan Menz, Ruth Gendrue, and Emma Jenks. Madison Greenwald, Anie Carestia, Emma Fox, Allie Austin, and Madison Dryburgh were also some of the key swimmers.
BARKER -- The Boys and Girls Varsity Swim teams had solid wins over the Albion Purple Eagles on Monday night. The girls won 102-62 with Ruth Gendrue, Emma Jenks, Meghan Menz, Brooke Targus, and Hayley Richbart each having a first place finish. The girls also took all three relays which added Renee Levy and Madison Greenwald to the top finishers. Grayce Weller, Maya Gooding, Natalie Menz, Sara Gendrue, Maddison Dryburgh and Anie Carestia also had solid performances that contributed to the team win.
The boys had an impressive 101-58 win over Albion with first place finishes by Zach Shaft, Brian Alt, Casey Web, John Stansbury, Tyler Swann and Zack Smolinsky. Andrew Jenks, Alex Goodlander, Patrick Desmarais and Alfredo Bautista also swam great times to contribute to the win.
Barker goes on the road Thursday to take on Akron at 4:30 pm.
The boys team swam well as Brian Alt was an individual winner in the 100 Backstroke. The 200 Free Relay of Zach Shaft, Zach Smolinsky, John Stansbury, and Casey Webb took first place. Donnie Haag, Andrew Jenks, John Stansbury, and Dustin Walters also swam personal best times.
Both teams are both 1-1 in league competition. The next meet is Monday at 4:30 versus Albion.
MEDINA -- The Boys and Girls Varsity Swim teams began their league competition with a meet against Medina on Tuesday night. Both teams won hard fought battles over the Sea Horses. The girls swam to a 93-77 victory with eight first place finishes. Ruth Gendrue had two individual wins while Emma Jenks, Renee Levy and Dillynn Taylor each added one. All three relays also placed first.
The boys gave their all and took control to win the meet by grabbing the last relay for an 86-84 win. Zach Shaft, John Stansbury, Tim Flint, and Tyler Swann each earned a first place finish as Brian Alt had two individual firsts for the team.
Every swimmer contributed to these wins. The team is hoping for a big crowd on Thursday as they host the Roy-Hart Channel Cats. The meet starts at 4:30 pm.
Both teams are showing lots of improvement with Madison Greenwald, Patrick Desmarias, Elise Zapp, Sara Gendrue, Andrew Jenks, Grayce Weller, Natilie Menz, and Collin Webb swimming fast. Congratulations go Alex Goodlander and Allison Austin for swimming their first 100 Fly of the season with many more to come.
The girls and boys teams are now 3-1 on the season. League competition begins at Medina on Tuesday at 4:30.
The boys team swam hard, but were just touched out by Alexander 51-50. Brian Alt was a double winner for the guys in both the 200 IM and 100 Back. Tyler Swan picked up a first in the 100 Breast Stroke. The team had strong performances by Nick Israel, Donnie Haag, Alex Goodlander, Tim Flint and Alonzo St. Louis.
Both teams stand at 2 wins 1 loss on the season. The next meet is at home on Thursday at 4:30 pm.
BARKER -- The Varsity Swim teams hosted the Attic Blue Devils on Thursday night and the boys' team continued their winning ways with a 112-50 victory. The senior captains led the way as Brain Alt and Zach Shaft were both double winners. Alt took the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke while Shaft was victorious in both the 200 and 100 Free. Also grabbing first place were Casey Webb in the 50 Free and John Stansbury in the 100 Fly.
The Lady Raiders lost a close one captain Ruth Gendrue leading the way. Gendrue posted wins in both the 200 IM and 500 Free. Brooke Targus claimed first in the 100 Backstroke.
Between the two teams there were over 25 personal best times posted. The fast times for both teams are just the beginning. The next meet is at Alexander on Tuesday.
First place finishers for the boys: 200 Medley Relay - Brian Alt, Tyler Swan, John Stansbury and Zach Smolinsky, 200 Free - Zach Shaft, 50 Free - Casey Webb, 500 Free and 100 Back - Alt, 100 Free - Smolinsky. Barker also won both the 200 and 400 Free Relays.
The next meet is Thursday in Barker at 4:30 against Attica.
Barker showed they have a bright future in the pool as freshman Tyler Swann posted his best time in the Breaststroke and sophomore Tim Flint posted his personal best time in the 500 Free as well. The boys will now be competing at the Class C Championships this Saturday at Maryvale High School.
The next meet is Thursday at Albion.
BARKER --The Barker Swim teams played host to Medina on Thursday and took a split. The girls won going away by a score of 104-66 in large part by winning all eleven first place finishes. The boys team lost a close meet, but won the majority of the events. Overall, the teams produced 17 personal best times and Stephanie Pyra moved up to seventh place all time with her finish in the 100 Fly.
Both teams are showing lots of improvement with Madison Dryburgh and Melissa Pestinger shattering their personal best times in the 50 Free and 500 Free respectively. Tyler Swan, Donnie Haag, Alonzo St. Louis and Tim Flint swam best times as well.
The next meet is home on Tuesday for Senior Night.
The team will host Akron on Friday at 3:30.
BARKER -- The Barker Swim teams hosted the Albion Purple Eagles on Thursday and swam away with two victories. The girls team won by a score of 99–68. Ruth Gendrue was the lone double winner for the girls. Other winners included Rachel Anderson and Stephanie Pyra. Personal best times included Emma Jenks, Sabrina Harris, Phoebe Elter and Allison Austin.
The boys meet came down to the last relay and in dramatic fashion Barker won enough points to secure the victory by a score of 87-82. Nolan Bouchane's come from behind finish allowed Barker to capture first and second place in the 100 Breaststroke and set the stage for the last relay heroics. Best times by Kolby Greenwald, Robert Walters, Alonzo St. Louis and Tim Flint also helped to secure the win.
On the boys side the team took seven of 11 firsts. Double winners for the guys were Brain Alt, Phil Schumacher and Zach Shaft. Also contributing to the effort were John Stansbury, Alonzo St. Louis and Nick Isreal.
Both teams are continuing to improve and earning many personal best times.
The boys had first places finishes by Brian Alt in the 200 IM and 100 Back, and Phil Schumacher in the 100 Breaststroke. The boys also won the 200 Medley Relay.
The boys also had season best times posted by Donnie Haag, Phil Schumacher and Tyler Swann. First place finishers in the 200 Free Relay were Brian Alt, Zach Shaft, Zach Smolinski and Schumacher.
Both teams travel to Akron on Thursday to take on the Tigers.
Single winners were Stephanie Pyra - 100 Fly, Renee Levy – 200 Free, Haley Richbart - 100 Breaststroke, and Zach Shaft - 200 Free. Both teams share a record of 3-1.
The boys swam extremely well. First place finishers were: Brian Alt, Robert Walters, John Stansbury and Zack Smolinski - 400 Medley Relay, Zach Shaft - 200 Free, Alt - 200 IM, Smolinski - 50 Free, Stansbury - 100 Fly, Alt, Stansbury, Shaft, and Smolinski - 200 Free Relay and Alt - 100 Back. Many more best times were recorded as well.
