Pavlock Helps Roy-Hart/Barker Swimmers To 2nd Place At Crossover Meet

February 3, 2024

ROCHESTER -- The G-R/N-O Crossover Girls’ Swim event was held on Friday, Feb 3rd. Out of 11 teams Roy-Hart/Barker placed 2nd overall with 245 points.

Madelina Pavlock was part of the 2nd place Medley Relay. Pavlock also helped the 200 Free Relay team to a 7th place finish.

In the 200 Free, Pavlock, finished 4th and Riley Klopfer was 11th. Both swimmers earned personal best times.

Pavlock had another personal best in the 500 Free, where she had a 7th place finish.

 

Channel Cats Register 14 Personal Best Times At All-League Meet

NEWFANE -- On Friday, the Girls Swim team traveled to Newfane for the Niagara-Orleans All-League Meet. There were 14 personal best times by the Channel Cats during the meet.

Cheyann Walker dropped 3 seconds in her 100 Free, Gloria Haller had a personal best in the 100 Fly and Madelina Pavlock had a personal best and took 4th in the 200 Free.

 

Girls’ Swim Team Ties Newfane

January 20, 2024

MIDDLEPORT -- On Saturday, the Girls Swim team tied visiting Newfane, 85-85. Madelina Pavlock took a pair of 2nd places finishes - 200 IM and 500 Free. Pavlock was also on the Medley Relay which also finished 2nd. The 400 Free Relay (Pavlock, Waler, Ossont, Washington) also placed 2nd.

Riley Klopfer and Cheyann Walker were part of the 2nd place 200 Free Relay.

 

Girls’ Swim Team Claims League Title

January 16, 2024

MIDDLEPORT -- On Tuesday, the Girls' Swim team clinched the N-O League Championship by winning all 11 events against Medina. Madelina Pavlock won her two individual events - the 200 Free and 100 Breaststroke. Pavlock was also on the Medley and 400 Free Relays.

Freshman Riley Klopfer finished 2nd in the 200  and the 500  Free. Klopfer was also on the winning 400 Free Relay. Cheyann Walker placed 2nd in the 50 Free and was on the 2nd place 200 Free Relay with teammates Karisma Washington, Shelby Dauphinee, and Hailey Pasnik.

Gloria Haller placed 2nd in the 100 Fly swimming her personal best time of the season.

 

5 Swimmers Improve Times In Meet  At Akron

January 11, 2024

AKRON -- On Thursday, the Roy-Hart/Barker Swim team defeated Akron 54-97. Madelina Pavlock won the 500 Free in a season-best time of 6:25.72. Pavlock was also on the winning 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay.

Shelby Dauphinee had three personal best times in the 100 Fly, 50 Free, and 100 Breast.

Cheyann Walker had two personal best times in the 50 and 100 Free.

Peyton Bradley dropped time in her 50 and 100 Free.

Riley Klopfer improved her time in the 100 Backstroke.


Pavlock Wins 2 Events At Albion

January 9, 2024

ALBION -- Tuesday, the Swim team traveled to Albion. Madelina Pavlock placed in all 4 of her her events. She was part of the 1st place Medley Relay and then she won the 200 Free and finished with two 2nd place finishes in the 500 Free and the 200 Free Relay.

Cheyann Walker and Riley Klopfer took a pair of 3rd place finishes in 2 relays. Klopfer also dropped an impressive 40 seconds in her 500 Free.

 

Walker Drops 25 Seconds In 100 Breastroke

January 2, 2024

NEWFANE -- On Tuesday, the Barker/Roy-Hart Girls Swim team defeated Newfane 93-76. Freshman Riley Klopfer had an exceptional day in the pool, dropping 17 seconds in the 200 Freestyle and 30 seconds in the 500 Free. Klopfer was also on the 400 Free Relay that placed 2nd

Cheyann Walker dropped 25 seconds in the 100 Breaststroke, placing 2nd and she was a member of the 2nd place 200 Free Relay team.

Gloria Haller swam the 100 Fly, placed 4th, and dropped 7 seconds from her time.

The next meet is in Albion on Tuesday, January 9th.

 

Haller Takes 3rd In 100 Fly

MIDDLEPORT -- The Swim team defeated Akron on Thursday and is currently undefeated in the N-O League. Madelina Pavlock won her two individual events - 500 Free and 200 IM. Pavlock was also on the winning 400 Free Relay team.

Gloria Haller took 3rd in the 100 Fly. Cheyann Walker was 4th in the 100 Free.

The next meet is Tuesday, December 19th at Medina at 5:00 PM.

 

200 Medley Relay Team Grabs 3rd In Regular Season Opening Meet

December 12, 2023

MIDDLEPORT -- Tuesday, the Swim team started the regular season with a win over Albion.  The 200 Medley Relay of Riley Klopfer, Cheyann Walker, Gloria Haller and Shelby Dauphinee took 3rd place.

In individual events, Madelina Pavlock placed 2nd in the 200 Free and won the 500 Free. Pavlock was also a part of the winning 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays.

The next meet is Thursday, December 14th at Roy-Hart against Akron.

 

Pavlock Takes 1st In 500 Free

December 5, 2023

MIDDLEPORT -- On Tuesday, the Varsity Swim team hosted HAC and many Barker girls had personal best times. Madelina Pavlock was part of the 200 and 400 Free Relay that took 1st place. Pavlock also took 1st in the 500 Freestyle.

Cheyann Walker placed 2nd in the 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays.

Shelby Dauphinee and Riley Klopfer were both on the Medley and 400 Free Relay that placed 3rd.

The next meet is Tuesday, December 12th at Roy-Hart at 5:00 PM.

 

R-H/Barker Girls’ Swim Team Finishes 3rd At G-R/N-O Crossover Meet

ROCHESTER -- The combined Roy-Hart/Barker swim team was 3rd overall at the GR/N-O Crossover meet on Friday. Madelina Pavlock was 7th in the 500 Free. She was also part of the 7th place 200 Free Relay and the 5th place 400 Free Relay.

Varsity Girls Swim Team Wins N-O League Championship

AKRON -- Congratulations Girl's Channel Cat swimmers! The Girl's team went 8-0 this season in the Niagara-Orleans League. The undefeated Girls team won 102-66 against Akron on Thursday evening clinching the N-O League Championship! The Barker girls contributed to the win with Madelina Pavlock in the Medley Relay that took a 3rd place. Pavlock also took 4th in the 200 IM, 3rd in the 500 Free, and was on the winning 400 Free Relay.

Shelby Dauphinee was 4th in the 200 Free, and part of the 200 Free Relay that finished in 3rd place.  Second year swimmer, Senior, Angelina Delgrolice swam her personal best in the 100 Freestyle and swam in both the 200 and 400 Free Relays. Alexis Dauphinee swam in 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle Relay, and 100 Butterfly. Gloria Haller took 4th in the 100 Fly and was also in the 200 & 400 free relays. Abi Socie swam in the 200 Medley & 200 Free Relay.

 


Delgrolice Honored On Senior Recognition Night

January 17, 2023

MIDDLEPORT -- Tuesday, the Channel Cats Swim team hosted Albion during their senior recognition meet. Angelina Delgrolice was one of the 10 seniors honored. The girls team won 96-74 and are still undefeated. Madelina Pavlock was 3rd in the 200 IM, and Shelby Dauphinee took 4th in the 500 Freestyle. The Barker quartet of Alexis Dauphinee, Abbi Socie, Gloria Haller, and Delgrolice swam the 200 Free Relay.

The girls had many personal bests and all have had great improvement this year.

The team travels to Akron on Thursday for the last meet of the regular season. Start time is 5:00.

MIDDLEPORT -- The Channel Cats won again! The girls are now 6-0 and are still undefeated in the N-O League. Tuesday night, against visiting Medina, the girls won the meet 85-54. The Barker Girls are swimming very well and have had many personal best times this season. Madelina Pavlock was 2nd in the 200 IM. Shelby Dauphinee was 3rd in 200 Free. Gloria Haller placed 2nd in 100 Fly. 4th place finishers were: Angelina Delgrolice in the 100 Free and Alexis Dauphinee in the 500 Free. Alexis Dauphinee dropped over 11 seconds for a personal best time. Pavlock was also part of the winning 400 Free Relay.

Tuesday, January 17th is Senior Day when the team hosts Albion at 5:00 PM.

 

Alexis Dauphinee Contributes In Win Over Newfane

January 5, 2023

MIDDLEPORT -- Thursday, the Girls Swim team won, 108-60, against visiting Newfane. The Girls remain undefeated in the league with three more league matches to go. Madelina Pavlock took 2nd in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke. Teammates Shelby Dauphinee took two 4th place finishes in both the 200 and the 100 Freestyle. Alexis Dauphinee took 4th in the 500 Free. Pavlock was also part of the winning 400 Free Relay and her Medley Relay team placed 3rd. Alexis Dauphinee was also part of that relay. The 200 Free Relay team including Alexis Dauphinee and Shelby Dauphinee placed 3rd. Gloria Haller and Angelina Delgrolice were part of the 4th place relay. The last relay of the evening finished 2nd with Shelby Dauphinee as part of the team. Delgrolice and Haller were on the relay that placed 4th.

The Girls team won 108-60. The next meet is Tuesday against Medina at Roy-Hart.

MIDDLEPORT -- The RBL Channel Cats clinched a double win as both the boys and girls teams defeated Akron on Tuesday. The Barker girls had many personal best times in all their events.

Madelina Pavlock took 3rd in the 200 IM and 100 Freestyle. Pavlock was also part of the 1st place 200 Free Relay with teammates Karisma Washington, Nadia White, and Julia Miles. The team of Alexis Dauphinee, Hannah Giroux, Angelina Delgrolice, and Kendyll Kidney placed 4th. The last relay of the evening was Pavlock, Alexis Seib, Ava Achtyl, and Abigail Glyshaw in 2nd place, while the team of Shelby Dauphinee, Amelia Konstanty, Jillian Ossont, and Lillian Stanczyk finished in 3rd place.

The girls' team remains undefeated after the 101-67 victory. 

The next meet is on Thursday at Roy-Hart when the team hosts Newfane at 5:00.


Alexis Dauphinee Helps 2 Relays Collect Points At Albion

December 20, 2022

ALBION -- Tuesday night at Albion the RBL Channel Cats Swim team took wins for both the girls’ and boys’ teams.

Taking first in the 500 Free and swimming to a personal best time was Madelina Pavlock. The 200 Relay of Alexis Dauphinee, Gloria Haller, Angelina Delgrolice, and Cora Lennon took a third place finish.

The team of Hailey Pasnik, Alexis Dauphinee, Jillian Ossont, and Shelby Dauphinee also placed third in the last relay of the evening.

The girls won 62-31 to remain undefeated.


Pavlock Wins 500 Free At Medina

December 13, 2022

MEDINA -- On Tuesday, the RBL Swim team traveled to Medina, and brought home wins for both the boys and girls team. The Lady Channel Cats won 10 out of 11 events. The 200 Medley Relay of Madelina Pavlock, Abigail Glyshaw, Karmisa Washington, and Alexis Seib started off the meet.

Double winners were Senior Nadia White in both the 50 and 100 Free. Glyshaw took the 200 IM and 100 Breastroke.

Freshman Pavlock won the 500 Freestyle as a Channel Cat and was part of the 400 Free Relay that finished the meet.

Alexis Dauphinee did her personal best, swimming the 500 and dropping over 30 seconds in her swim.

The team travels to Albion on Tuesday for a 5:00 start.

 

Santarsiero Eyes Record In Section VI Race

February 12, 2022

CLARENCE -- The Varsity Boys Swim team competed in the Section VI Class C Championships on Saturday. Finishing in the top 4 in both of his individual events was Ryan Santarsiero by earning personal records in both the 200 Free and 100 Breaststroke and taking 4th and 2nd place respectively.

Team Closes Out Season at GR/N-O Meet

February 5, 2022

ROCHESTER -- Over the weekend, four members of the Varsity Girls Swim team participated in the GR-NO intersectional swim championships in Rochester. Madelina Pavlock, Peyton Bradley, Emma Evans, and senior Emma McGrath all represented Barker in this lively end of season competition. Pavlock earned a personal best in the 50 Freestyle and Emma McGrath made her final competition a memorable one.

 

Girls Swim Team Earns Sportsmanship Award

January 26, 2022

NEWFANE -- On Wednesday, the Varsity Girls Swim team competed in the Niagara-Orleans All-League Championships.The team enjoyed
the energy of the large setting and racked up 7 personal records in the pool. In addition, the girls were  awarded the N-O League Sportsmanship Award.

Moving on to the N-O/GR Crossover
Championships in Rochester next week will be Emma McGrath, Emma Evans, Madelina Pavlock, and Peyton
Bradley.

 

Sportsmanship Award & Two 1st Place Finishes for Santarsiero

NEWFANE -- The Varsity Boys Swim team competed in the All-League Championships on Monday night at Newfane. Some remarkable swims were had by all the boys who earned personal records in one or more events. The team of Brent Johnson, Drew Sandolfini, Zack Santarsiero, and Ryan Santarsiero earned the league Sportsmanship Award for this year.

Ryan SantarsieroTo top off the great night, Ryan Santarsiero took 1st place in both the 100 Freestyle and the 200 Freestyle races. He has now qualified in both events for sectional competition in February.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Boys Win 5 of 11 Events At Sectionals Meet 

March 5, 2021

BARKER & HAMBURG -- The athletes persevered through a most unusual season and finished on a high note with a whopping total of 39 personal best times at the Girls All-League on February 22nd, the Boys All League meet on February 24th, and an additional 14 earned by the boys at their Sectional meet at Frontier High School on March 5th. 

Girls All League:

  • Natalie Bruning placed 3rd in the 200 Freestyle and 4th in the Backstroke.
  • The Medley Relay team of Bruning, Alexa Zglinicki, Emma Evans, and Madelina Pavlock placed 5th.
  • Collected 21 of the 39 personal best times by swimming hard and cheering loud.
  • It was nice to see some live spectators at this event.

Boys All League:

  • Ryan Santarsiero placed 1st in the Individual Medley and 2nd in the Breaststroke.
  • Ryan Stevener placed 3rd in Backstroke and 4th in 50 Free.
  • The Medley Relay team of Stevener, Santarsiero, Drew Sandolfini, and Zachary Hill took 2nd place by shaving 3 seconds off their personal best time.
  • The 400 Free Relay of Stevener, Hill, Will Goodlander, and Santarsiero placed 3rd.

Sectionals:

  • Designed in team brackets this year instead of individual event rankings, so our boys traveled to Frontier for our only live meet and competed against a team twice our size.
  • Managed to win 5 out of the 11 events.
  • Clocked 14 personal best times.
  • Ryan Santarsiero managed to close a 10 yard gap in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a photo finish and 1st place.
  • Santarsiero’s race to the school record in Breaststroke will have to wait until next year. He remains 0.25 seconds away, giving us a great starting point for next season.
  • Honorable Mention for this meet to Larry Toni who was swimming his fastest time ever in the 100 Freestyle.
  • All of the boys represented Barker in a way that makes us all proud!

Swimmers Close Out Regular Season Over Mid-Winter Break

BARKER -- The Varsity swim team competed in several swim meets just prior to and over the February break. Many swimmers performed well in several events. The highlights of the most memorable results from the meets were:

  • Five 1st place finishes against Medina: Drew Sandolfini, Boys 200 Free Relay, Natalie Bruning, Ryan Stevener, and Emma McGrath.
  • Nine 2nd place finishes against Medina: Girls Medley Relay (Bruning, Sam Mace, McGrath, and Madelina Pavlock), Bruning, Emma Evans, McGrath, Ryan Santarsiero, Will Goodlander, Girls 200 Free Relay (Alexa Zglinicki, Addison Szafranski, Mace, Evans), Girls 400 Free Relay (Pavlock, Zglinicki, McGrath, Bruning).
  • Against Newfane there were six 1st place finishes: Boys Medley Relay, Will Goodlander, Santarsiero (twice), Zach Hill, and the Boys 400 Free Relay.
  • Ten 2nd place finishes against Newfane: Girls Medley Relay, Sandolfini, Pavlock, Evans, Goodlander, Girls 200 Free Relay, Bruning, Stevener, and Brent Johnson.
  • The highlight of the Newfane meet was the combined efforts of all the boys, especially the trio of Santarsiero, Johnson, and Larry Toni who took 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in 100 Breaststroke to secure the win.
  • Against Akron there were five 1st place finishes: Boys Medley Relay, Goodlander, and Santarsiero (twice).
  • Five 2nd place finishes against Akron: Evans, Stevener, Bruning, Goodlander, and the Boys 400 Free Relay.
  • Against Roy-Hart there were six 1st place finishes: Bruning, Santarsiero (twice), Boys 200 Free Relay, Bruning, and Stevener.
  • Three 2nd place finishes against Akron: Girls and Boys Medley Relays, and Bruning.

Boys and girls All League meets will take place on February 22nd and 24th, respectively followed by boys sectionals the following week. Highlights will be reported once the official results are available. 

 

Bruning Grabs Two First Place Finishes

February 4, 2021

BARKER -- It’s hard to imagine that the team has already completed half of it's regular season this week after meets against Newfane, Akron, and Medina. The 14 members of the team have been fine tuning their strokes, turns, starts, and finishes to accomplish an astounding 38 personal best times just this week. Zach Hill, Addison Szafranski, and Lina Pavlock own 20 of those 38 best times.

In addition, there were several 2nd place finishes for the girls in the Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay, Alexa Zglinicki’s Backstroke, Emma Evans’ Individual Medley, and Emma McGrath’s 50 Free and 100 Back. Natalie Bruning had two 1st place finishes in the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke.

More boys were able to compete this week with some 1st place finishes by Ryan Santarsiero in the 50 Free, 100 Breaststroke, 200 IM. There was also a 1st place finish in the 50 Free by Ryan Stevener. Second place finishes were Will Goodlander in the 200 Free and Ryan Stevener in the 100 Back as well as all 3 relay teams. 3rd place finishes were made by Brent Johnson in the 100 Breast and Drew Sandolfini in the 200 IM.

The 5th meet is this Saturday at 9:00 AM and will be live streamed through the swim team link on the Barker athletics page. 

 

Virtual Meets Take Place For 2021 Swim Season

January 28 & 30, 2021

BARKER -- Several adjustments were made this year to allow the Varsity Swim Team to begin their 2021 season. Thanks to all of the staff and students who made this possible!

Our kids are competing in virtual swim meets which are now being streamed live on YouTube. The link can be found on the Varsity Swim Team page under the Barker Athletics section of the school website. Meets are Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 4:30 and Saturday mornings at 9:00. Although you won’t see our opponents in the pool, the rest of the meet runs as normal as possible and you can get a real time view.

Enjoy these stats from week 1:

  • Madelina Pavlock debuted in 50 Free, 100 Free, and Freestyle relay taking one 2nd place and three 3rd place finishes.
  • Addison Szafranski debuted in 50 Free and 100 Freestyle.
  • Emma Evans debuted in 200 Individual Medley, 500 Freestyle, Medley Relay, Freestyle relay, and 100 Breaststroke. She had five 2nd place finishes.
  • Alexa Zglinicki swam the Medley Relay and the Freestyle Relay, the 200 Free, and 100 Backstroke. She had five 2nd place finishes and a personal best of 26.75 seconds on her 50 Freestyle leg in the Relay.
  • Emma McGrath swam the Medley and Freestyle Relays, 50 Free, and 100 Breaststroke. She had seven 2nd place finishes.
  • Sam Mace swam the 100 Freestyle and the 100 Breaststroke.


Natalie Bruning swam the Individual Medley, Medley Relay, Freestyle Relay, the 200 Free, and the 100 Backstroke. She had four 1st and four 2nd place finishes.

The boys team had several swimmers who were yet eligible to compete so their stats are brief:

  • Larry Toni swam Freestyle events including 1 relay and the 100 Backstroke and had one 2nd place finish.
  • Zachary Hill debuted with Freestyle events including 1 relay and had one 2nd place finish.
  • Brent Johnson swam Freestyle events including 1 relay and had one 2nd place finish.
  • Ryan Santarsiero swam Freestyle events, Relays, and 100 Breaststroke. He had three 1st place finishes and one 2nd place finish. Santarsiero's most notable swim was his 100 Breaststroke on Saturday where he produced a personal best time and was less than 1 second away from the school record. 

 

Relays Take 5th Place At Section VI Class C Championships

February 8, 2020

CHEEKTOWAGA -- Over the weekend, four boys from the Varsity Swim Team competed in the Section VI Class C Championships at Maryvale High School. The boys swam against the strongest swimmers from smaller schools across the section. Alex Jenks placed 7th overall in the 100 Freestyle while Ryan Stevener and Tyler Cirillo finished in 15th and 16th place respectively in the 50 Freestyle finals.

In all three relays, the team of Stevener, Cirillo, Jenks and Ryan Santarsiero finished in 5th place after some incredibly tight races. Overall, the boys representing the 2nd smallest school in the Section VI swim community managed to earn 99 points and secured 9th place out of 16 schools within the class.

Many thanks go out to Drew Sandolfini as well for continuing to work out and travel with the team as our alternate. On Wednesday, the team will conclude the swim season with the Section VI Championships at the University of Buffalo. Good luck to all the aforementioned swimmers in the events they just competed in, as well as Santarsiero in the 100 Breaststroke.

 

Girls Close Out Season With 3 Personal Best Times At All League

AKRON -- On Friday, the Varsity Girls Swim team represented Barker at the Niagara-Orleans League Swim Championships.There were many exciting events and several school and league records broken by swimmers from all over the league. Our Barker swimmers may not have broken any records, but the following girls continued to make Barker proud as they worked on individual goals and teamwork. Three personal best times were recorded:

  • The Medley relay team of Kailtlynn Dauphinee, Alexa Zglinicki, Emma McGrath, and Abby Wilson cut close to 3 seconds off their time.
  • McGrath dropped over 1 second off her 100 Breaststroke.
  • The 400 Free Relay team of Dauphinee, Zglinicki, McGrath, and Wilson shaved 17 seconds off their best time.

Sam Mace and MacKenzie Dodge each competed in one event to finish off the evening. 

The Boys Varsity team will continue their championship rounds at the Section VI Class C Preliminaries on Thursday, February 6th and the Finals will take place on Saturday. Alex Jenks, Tyler Cirillo, Ryan Santarsiero, Ryan Stevener, and Drew Sandolfini will all compete for the Raiders.

 

Santarsiero Is League Champion In 100 Breaststroke

AKRON -- Congratulations go out to all of the boys from the Varsity Swim team for an outstanding performance at Niagara-Orleans Championships on Wednesday night. In all, 20 personal best times were recorded from Alex Jenks, Ryan Stevener, Ryan Santarsiero, Tyler Cirillo, Brent Johnson, Drew Sandolfini, Will Goodlander, and Larry Toni. All 5 relay teams finished with personal best times;  with the Medley Relay team taking 3rd and the 200 Free Relay team taking 2nd place.

In the individual events, Jenks took 3rd in the 100 Freestyle, Santarsiero took 2nd in the Individual Medley, and in a photo finish Santarsiero snatched 1st place in the 100 Breaststroke.

The coaches thank all of the boys for their hard work this season and look forward to continued success as Santarsiero, Stevener, Cirillo, Jenks and Sandolfini move on to Class C and Sectional competitions.

The girls will compete on Friday, January 31st in the league championships which are also at Akron. Start time is 5:30 PM.

 

Senior Swimmers Honored In Final Home Meet Of Season

BARKER -- On Saturday, the Varsity Swim team finished the regular season by hosting Medina. The four senior class swimmers were honored in a special ceremony. It was a special setting as many were in attendance to support Abby Wilson, Kaitlynn Dauphinee, Tyler Cirillo, and Alex Jenks. Coach Strong and Coach Calandra are looking forward to an exciting post season with All League, Crossover, and Sectional meets still to come.

All of the swimmers made personal gains this season; even at the end when it becomes more difficult to beat your best times: Cirillo shaved time off his 50 Freestyle and competed in his first 200 Individual Medley. Drew Sandolfini took significant time off his 50 Freestyle and 200 Individual Medley. Ryan Stevener cut 6 seconds off his 200 Freestyle and had a personal best in the 50 Free. Larry Toni had a personal best in the 100 Freestyle for two consecutive meets and Jenks managed to get his 50 Free down to 24.03 seconds. Brent Johnson trimmed time off his 50 Free and dropped 8 seconds off his 500 Free.

For the girls, Alexa Zglinicki continued to drop time in her 50 Free and 50 Breaststroke. Emma McGrath had a personal best in the 100 Breaststroke and Dauphinee took time off her 50 Backstroke and her 500 Free.

 

Busy & Successful Meet For Zglinicki At Newfane

NEWFANE -- On Tuesday night, the Varsity Swim team competed in Newfane with a very close match up for the boys, who came up short by just three points. To end the meet, the 400 Freestyle Relay team of Alex Jenks, Tyler Cirillo, Ryan Stevener and Ryan Santarsiero took first place and qualified for sectionals with a time of 3:48.49. This marks our 3rd Boys’ event to qualify.

Drew Sandolfini, Larry Toni, Lucas Flegal, Will Goodlander and Brent Johnson contributed great swims and earned much needed points for the team.

On the Girls’ side, Abby Wilson took first place in the 50 Free, Emma McGrath took 2nd in the 50 Free and Alexa Zglinicki participated in her first ever Individual Medley race and finished in 3rd place. Kaitlynn Dauphinee finished 3rd in the 500 Free, Zglinicki took 2nd in the 100 Backstroke and McGrath took 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke. The medley relay team of Zglinicki, Samantha Mace, McGrath and Wilson finished in 3rd and the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Zglinicki, McGrath, Dauphinee and Wilson took 2nd place.

As is always the case, Mackenzie Dodge worked hard in the water and on the deck cheering fellow swimmers on.

The next meet is Thursday at Albion.

 

Santarsiero In On Two Victories At Medina

MEDINA -- On Tuesday, the Varsity Swim team competed in Medina. Ryan Santarsiero won the 200 IM, Alex Jenks won the 50 Free and the relay team of Jenks, Ryan Stevener, Tyler Cirillo and Ryan Santarsiero won the 200 Free Relay as well. Lucas Flegal, Larry Toni, and Drew Sandolfini added three more personal best times to make our team total of 100.

The next meet is at home against Roy-Hart on Thursday, January 9th.

 

Johnson, Flegal, Sandolfini, Goodlander Win Crucial Points In 200 Relay

AKRON -- The Varsity Swim team finished off 2019 with a remarkable performance at Akron. True teamwork was evident from both the boys’ and girls’ teams. A special shout out to Brent Johnson who completed two daunting events only to turn around and compete in the 200 Relay with very little recovery time. Johnson and Lucas Flegal started off the relay; working hard to give their team a chance at a much needed 2nd place finish. Drew Sandolfini then magically closed a 15 yard gap which gave Will Goodlander a chance to pull ahead of Akron and seal the deal. That 2nd place finish allowed the boys to come from behind and defeat Akron 82-79.

2019 provided tremendous growth in skill and speed with 97 personal best times between the girls’ and boys’ teams. The teams look forward to starting off 2020 with two big meets: Tuesday, 1/7 in Medina and Thursday, 1/9 at home against Roy Hart.

 

Flegal Sets Personal Best In 200 Free

BARKER -- On Tuesday, the Varsity Swim team hosted Albion, and although they were outnumbered 3:1, the swimmers from both the boys’ and girls’ teams performed their personal best across several events. For the girls: Emma McGrath achieved a personal best in the 200 Freestyle by shaving 10 seconds off her previous record. In addition, she had a personal best in 100 Breaststroke and 50 Free. Alexa Zglinicki also had outstanding races in the 100 Backstroke and her leg of the 100 Freestyle Relay. Kaitlyn Dauphinee earned a personal best in her part of the 100 Free Relay. Abby Wilson also had a personal best in the 50 Free.

On the boys side Lucas Flegal had a personal best in the 200 Free, and Will Goodlander shaved off time  in the 50 and 100 Free. Drew Sandolfini and Ryan Santarsiero had personal best times in the 100 Breaststroke. Ryan Stevener had a personal best in the 200 Free while Larry earned his personal best in the 50 Free. Last, but certainly not least was Tyler Cirillo, earning a PB in the 50 Free with a phenomenal time of 26.31 seconds.

Barker will travel to Akron for a 4:30 contest with the Tiger Sharks.

 

Cirillo And Stevener Qualify For Sectionals 

December 12, 2019

BARKER -- Barker hosted Newfane on Thursday in what turned out to be a remarkable night for swimmers from both the girls and boys teams. The girls Medley Relay of Alexa Zglinicki, Samantha Mace, Emma McGrath, and Kaitlynn Dauphinee took 2nd place.

Both Dauphinee and Will Goodlander took second in the 200 Freestyle. Ryan Santarsiero and Alex Jenks finished 1st and 3rd in the 200 IM. Zglinicki took 1st in the girls 50 Freestyle while Ryan Stevener and Tyler Cirillo took 1st and 2nd. Cirillo and Stevener qualified for Class C Sectionals. Drew Sandolfini pulled off a 3rd place finish in the 100 Butterfly and grabbed a 2nd place in the 100 Breaststroke. Santarsiero piled on the points with another 1st place finish in the 100 Breaststroke.

In the girls 100 Freestyle, Abby Wilson took 1st, and McGrath took 3rd with a personal best performance. For the boys, Jenks finished 1st, Cirillo took 2nd; both with a personal best. The 500 Free was dominated by Goodlander with another 1st place finish while Brent Johnson and Lucas Flegal supported him in the water by taking on the big yards also.

The boys were able to seal the deal by taking 1st and 3rd place in the 200 Free Relay. Great teamwork was demonstrated by all of the swimmers.

The teams will host Albion on Tuesday at 4:30 PM.

 

Wilson Grabs 3 First Place Finishes vs. Notre Dame

December 3, 2019

BARKER -- The Varsity Swim team hosted Notre Dame Tuesday night. The boys 200 Medley Relay team of Ryan Stevener, Ryan Santarsiero, Alex Jenks, and Tyler Cirillo finished in 1st place and qualified for sectionals.

Other great swims for the boys included: Drew Sandolfini - 100 Butterfly, Lucas Flegal - 100 Freestyle, and Brent Johnson 100 Breaststroke.

Last, but certainly not least, many thanks go out to Will Goodlander and Larry Toni for demonstrating their team spirit and stamina in the water.

On the girls side senior Abby Wilson had a personal best three 1st place finishes. Mackenzie Dodge had a personal best in the 50 Freestyle by shaving over 5 seconds off her time. Alexa Zglinicki had two 1st place finishes and the Freestyle Relay team of Emma McGrath, Dodge, Zglinicki, and Wilson finished in first place. Senior, Kaitlyn Dauphinee left everyone in suspense by finishing her 500 Freestyle within a half second of her competitior.

The next meet is Tuesday, December 10th @ Roy-Hart.

Santarsiero Comes Up Big At Class C Championships

February 7 & 8, 2019

BUFFALO -- The Boys Varsity Swim team competed in the Section VI Class C Championships on Thursday and Friday and swam exceptionally well. The team posted a record 20 best times over the two day meet.  The Medley Relay consisting of Ryan Stevener, Dominic Clementi, Ryan Santarsiero and Alex Jenks teamed up to place 4th and earned a sectional patch.

Santarsiero, a freshman, led the team going 8 for 8 as he swam a best time in all 8 of his events. Stevener was second with 5 best times. Clementi, Jenks, Michael Dalton and Tyler Cirillo also earned best times.

The team ends their season on Wednesday, February 13th when they travel to the University at Buffalo to compete in the Section VI Championships.  

 

3 Individuals & 3 Relays To Swim In Section VI Class C Championship Finals

BUFFALO -- The Varsity Swim team competed in the Section VI Class C Championship Preliminaries on Thursday night at Erie Community College. The team swam fast and had multiple best times. Alex Jenks, Dominic Clementi, and Ryan Santarsiero will swim in the Championship Finals in their individual events. All three relays will be swimming in the final heat as well. The team will travel to City Honors to swim in the finals on Friday.

 

Girls Compete At Niagara-Orleans League Meet

NEWFANE -- The Girls Varsity Swim team traveled to Newfane on Friday and competed in the Niagara-Orleans League Championship meet. The Lady Raiders swam fast and recorded five personal best times. Jessica Haseley recording three Abby Wilson and Paige Sandolfini each had one. The next contest is on Friday, February 1st at Gates Chili for the G-R/N-O meet.

 

Solid Performance By Santarsiero At All-League Meet

January 23, 2019

AKRON -- The Boys Varsity Swim team traveled to Akron on Wednesday night to compete in the Niagara-Orleans Boys All-League Meet. Ryan Santarsiero touched 2nd in the 200 Individual Medley while teaming with Dominic Clementi, Ryan Stevener and Alex Jenks to place 3rd in the 200 Medley Relay. Jenks, Santarsiero, Clementi and Michael Dalton teamed up to finish 2nd in the 200 Free Relay.

Personal best times were recorded by Ryan Stevener, Alex Jenks, Tyler Cirillo and William Goodlander. The boys will compete at the Class Championships on Thursday, January 31st at the ECC Flickinger Center. Competition time for the Barker swimmers is 2:00 PM.

 

Mace Continues Improvement On Personal Best Times

AKRON -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Akron on Wednesday night and dropped both contests to the Tigers. Both Barker teams were outnumbered, but they still managed to total 8 best times. William Goodlander and Ryan Santarsiero both shaved off 9 seconds each in the 500 freestyle. Goodlander continuing with a best time in the 200 Free.   Jessica Haseley and Samantha Mace continue to lower their times in the 100 Breaststroke and Ryan Stevener touched first in the 100 Backstroke with a personal best time as well.

 

Sandolfini Part Of Winning 200 Medley Relay Team

BARKER -- The Barker Swim teams played host to the Albion Purple Eagles on Thursday night and also held their annual Senior Recognition Night. The Raiders recognized Shelby Ewald, Paige Sandolfini, Jessica Haseley, Dominic Clementi and Michael Dalton. The seniors combined for 19 seasons on the Varsity Swim team. They will be missed.

During the meet the Lady Raiders were led by first place finishers Natalie Bruning, Jessica Haseley, and Ewald. Sandolfini and Samantha Mace joined Bruning and Ewald and touched first in the 200 Medley Relay.

William Goodlander, Brent Johnson and Dalton provided quality efforts for the boys team. The swimmers produced over 14 best times.

 

Dauphinee Records Personal Best Time At Roy-Hart

MIDDLEPORT -- On Saturday the Barker Raiders Swim teams traveled to Roy-Hart to take on the Roy-Hart Channel Cats. The Lady Raiders were led by Natalie Bruning's first place finish in the 100 backstroke. Jessica Haseley had two personal best times and Kaitlynn Dauphinee provided one personal best time.

The boys were led by double winner Ryan Santarsiero who touched first in the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Breaststroke. Santarsiero, Dominic Clementi, Alex Jenks, and Michael Dalton also teamed up to win the 200 Freestyle Relay. Ray Zapata and Brent Johnson both swam 2 personal best times.

The next meet is Tuesday at 4:30 at home vs. Newfane.

 

Haseley Improves 4 Times Against Mustangs

January 3, 2019

BARKER -- The Raiders played host in the pool to the Medina Mustangs on Thursday night, and even though they were outnumbered and lost both contests, Barker still came away with 18 personal best times. The Lady Raiders were led by Natalie Bruning's first place finish in the 100 Backstroke. Leading the way with four personal best times was Jessica Haseley while Abby Wilson pitched in with two.

The boys were led by Ryan Santarsiero's first place finish in the 500 Freestyle. Michael Dalton provided three personal best times while Santarsiero added two.

The team will go for a win and more best times as they travel to Roy-Hart on Saturday and take on the Channel Cats.

 

Jenks Is Double Winner Against Akron

BARKER -- The Barker Raiders Swim teams hosted the Akron Tiger Sharks on Thursday night and came away with a split. The boys had an early Christmas present as they captured 8 of 11 first place finishes. Double winners for the Raiders were Dominic Clementi - 100 Fly and 100 Breaststroke, and Alex Jenks - 50 Free and 100 Free. Ryan Stevener added a win in the 100 Backstroke.  The boys are now 2-2 on the season.

On the girls side, Natalie Bruning recorded a first place finish in the 100 Backstroke.

Both teams combined for over 10 personal best times. The teams will be back the pool for competition on Thursday, January 3rd at home against Medina at 4:30 PM.

 

Bruning Wins 2 Individual Events & Part Of 2 Winning Relays

ALBION -- The Varsity Raiders Swim teams traveled to Albion on Tuesday night and came away with a split. Natalie Bruning was a double winner in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Backstroke and also teamed up with Shelby Ewald, Abby Wilson, and Paige Sandolfini to win both the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay. Jessica Haseley
also touched first in the 100 Breaststroke to help secure the victory for the Barker.

The guys team had quality contributions from Drew Sandolfini, Alex Jenks, Larry Toni and Ryan Santasiero in a losing effort.

The Raiders came away with a split, as the boys notched their first win of the season by claiming 9 of 11 first place finishes. Barker was led by Dominic Clementi and Ryan Santarsiero, both double winners. Michael Dalton, Alex Jenks, and Ryan Stevener each touched first in their respective races. Other contributors were William Goodlander, Tyler Cirillo, and Brent Johnson.

The Lady Raiders were led by first place finishers Natalie Bruning and Jessica Haseley. Barker also had solid performances by Kaitlynn Dauphinee, Shelby Ewald, and Samantha Mace.

Clementi Grabs 2 Relay Wins And 1 Individual Victory

BARKER -- The Barker Swim teams hosted the Roy-Hart Channel Cats on Tuesday night and even though they were outnumbered the Raiders came away with a few first place victories. The quartet of Ryan Stevener, Dominic Clementi, Ryan Santarsiero, and Alex Jenks touched first in the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay. Clementi also took first place in the 100 Breaststroke.

Boys Swim Team Grabs 7 First Place Finishes In Season Opener

November 30, 2018

ALEXANDER -- The Varsity Raiders Swim teams visited Alexander on Friday and opened the non-league portion of the schedule. The Lady Raiders were led by first place finishers: Abby Wilson, 50 Free; Chloe Goodlander, 100 Free; Natalie Bruning, 100 Backstroke; Jessica Haseley, 100 Breaststroke. Kaitlynn Dauphinee also contributed with a best time in the 500 Free.

The boys swam to 7 first place finishes. Ryan Stevener, Dominic Clementi, Ryan Santarsiero, and Alex Jenks teamed up to win the 200 Medley Relay.  Stevener and Clementi, along with Drew Sandolfini and Michael Dalton captured first in the 200 Free Relay. Double winners were Clementi in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Breastroke, and Ryan Santarsariero in the 200 Individual Medley and 500 Free. Jenks also won the 50 Free.

Both teams kept the competitions close but were unable to overcome the depth of the Alexander teams. The next meet is Friday at home versus Attica @ 4:30 PM.

 

Webb Closes Out High School Swim Career At States 

March 2-4, 2018

EAST MEADOW, NY -- Collin Webb traveled to New York City over the weekend to compete in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Federation Championship meet. Webb swam well and finished 44th and 57th in New York State in the 50 and 100 Free events, respectively. Congratulations go out to Webb for qualifying to swim at the State meet for the past 2 seasons and for setting new school records in the process.

 

Wagner, Webb, Jenks & Clementi Break 400 Free Relay School Record At Section VI Championships

AMHERST -- Adam Wagner, Collin Webb, Andrew Jenks, and Dominic Clementi traveled to the University at Buffalo and competed in the Section VI Swim Championship Preliminaries on Thursday night. Webb qualified for the New York State Meet for the second consecutive year. The four boys broke the school record in the 400 Free Relay and will return to UB for the finals in 5 events on Friday.

 

Webb Voted Swimmer Of The Meet At Section VI Class C Championships

February 10, 2018

CHEEKTOWAGA -- The Barker Raiders Swim team traveled to Maryvale High School on Saturday and competed in the Section VI Class C Championship meet. The team captured 3 individual championships and 2 relays for a total of 5 first place finishes and 1 second place finish. Collin Webb was victorious in the 50 Free and 100 Free while Andrew Jenks swam to first place in the 200 IM. Webb and Jenks teamed up with Dominic Clementi and Adam Wagner to win the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay. The boys set a new school record in the 200 Medley Relay. Clementi swam a personal best time in the 100 Breastroke where he took second. Clementi also was 6th in the 50 Free.

Other results from the championships were: Adam Wagner - 7th in the 200 Freestyle; Ryan Santarsiero - 7th in 200 IM and 10th in the 500 Free; Alex Jenks - 13th in both the 50 Free and 100 Free; Joe Baronich - 8th in the 200 IM and 20th in the 100 Breaststroke; Michael Dalton - 24th in the 200 Free and Ryan Stevener 18th in the 100 Backstroke. Webb was voted Swimmer of the Meet by the coaches for his outstanding performance of 4 titles.

The team will compete in Sectionals on Thursday and Friday.

 

Menz & Gendrue Close Out Swim Careers At GR/N-O Crossover Meet

February 2, 2018

ROCHESTER -- The Girls Varsity Swim team competed in their last meet of the season on Friday at Gates Chili High School in the GR/N-O Championship meet. The team swam to a 6th place finish out of 14 teams. They were led by senior captains Natalie Menz and Sara Gendrue who both captured a third-place finish: Menz in the 50 Free and Gendrue in the 100 Breaststroke. The two also teamed up with Katrina Clare and Natalie Bruning to take third in the 200 Medley Relay. Bruning was 6th in the 100 Backstroke. Gendrue finished in 6th place in the 100 Individual Medley. Clare and Fazzolari had strong meets as they both recorded multiple season best times.   

 

Gendrue Defends All League Title

NEWFANE -- The Girls Varsity Swim team traveled to Newfane on Friday and competed in the Niagara-Orleans League Championships. Barker's team broke one school record, captured one title, had two runner-up finishes and one third place finish. The quartet of Natalie Bruning, Sara Gendrue, Chloe Goodlander, and Natalie Menz started off the meet by setting a new school record in the 200 Free Relay while placing second.

Sara Gendrue defended her league title in the 100 Breaststroke and placed second in the 200 Individual Medley. Natalie Menz reached the podium as a second-place finisher in the 50 Freestyle and teamed up with Gendrue, Katrina Clare, and Bruning to place third in the 400 Free Relay. Additionally, Lena Fazzolari, Bruning, Clare, and Menz all had personal best times.

 

Webb Is Four Time N-O League Champion

AKRON -- The Barker Boys Swim team traveled to Akron on Wednesday night and competed in the Niagara-Orleans League Championships. Barker dominated the competition by winning 6 of 11 events. The quartet of Collin Webb, Dominic Clementi, Andrew Jenks, and Adam Wagner started the meet with a record breaking victory in the 200 Medley Relay.
 
It was just the beginning as Barker went on to win four of the next five events with Jenks capturing the title in the 200 Individual Medley and repeated as league champion in the 100 Butterfly. Webb became the only four-time league champion as he added to his 50 Freestyle winning streak. Webb also defended his 100 Freestyle title. Webb, Jenks, Clementi and Wagner teamed up again to win the 200 Freestyle Relay.
 
Wagner and Clementi reached the podium again with third-place finishes in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke events, respectively. Other All League participants scoring personal best times were Ryan Sanntasiero, Michael Dalton, Drew Sandolfini, Zach Lawson, Ryan Stevener and Joey Baronich.
 
 
Boys Swimmers Stake Claim To Niagara-Orleans League Championship After 30 Year Wait

NEWFANE -- The Varsity Swim teams traveled to Newfane on Friday. The girls were anchored by seniors Natalie Menz and Sara Gendrue who teamed up with Chloe Goodlander and Natalie Bruning to win the 200 Medley Relay. Gendrue was also a double winner by taking the 100 Breaststroke and 200 Individual Medley. The Lady Raiders ended their season with an N-O League record of 3-7.
 
The boys had their way with the Newfane team en route to a victory over the Panthers and a 9-1 league record. The win secured the first Niagara-Orleans League Championship in 30 years. Barker finished the regular season as co-champions with Albion. The team was led by the senior trio of Adam Wagner, Andrew Jenks and Collin Webb who all recorded first place finishes. The Raiders also received solid performances from Dominic Clementi, Ryan Santarsiero, Joe Baronich, Michael Dalton, Zach Lawson, and Ryan Stevener.
 
Both teams enter All League competition looking to defend a combined 7 league titles. The boys will be in action on Wednesday, January 24th at Akron High School and the girls will compete on Friday, January 26th at Newfane. Both Niagara-Orleans League meets will start at 5:30 PM.  
 
 
Santarsiero Wins 500 Free At Medina

MEDINA -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Medina on Wednesday night, swam fast, and split with the Mustangs. The boys continued their winning ways behind the trio of Adam Wagner, Andrew Jenks, and Collin Webb who were all double winners. Ryan Santarsiero, in the 500 Free, was the lone single winner for Barker.
 
The girls came up two points short in their attempt to down the Mustangs. Sara Gendrue was a double winner: 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. Natalie Bruning added a win in the 100 Backstroke for the Lady Raiders. Lena Fazzolari, Natalie Menz, Katrina Clare and Chloe Goodlander also contributed in the effort.
 
The last Niagara-Orleans League meet of the season is Friday at Newfane. The meet begins at 4:30 PM.
 
 
Barker Seniors All Pick Up First Place On Senior Night

BARKER -- On Thursday, the Barker Raiders hosted the Akron Tiger Sharks on Senior Night. The teams came away with a split on a night when the Barker team and fans celebrated the last home meet for the Barker seniors.  The boys picked up the victory. The girls swam hard in defeat.
 
All the seniors were first place finishers: Sara Gendrue in the 200 Freestyle, Natalie Menz in the 50 Free, Collin Webb in the 50 Free and 100 Backstroke, Adam Wagner the 200 Freestyle, Andrew Jenks in the 200 IM and 100 Butterfly and Joe Baronich in the 100 Breaststroke.
 
Other best time performances were given by Michael Dalton, Chloe Goodlander, Nate Heidemann, and Samantha Mace.
 
The next meet is Wednesday at 4:30 at Medina High School. 
 
 
Gendrue & Menz Each Place First At Home Against Roy-Hart

BARKER -- The Barker Swim teams hosted Roy-Hart on Tuesday night and came away with a split. The Barker boys continued their winning ways by swimming to a 96-73 victory over the Channel Cats. First place finishers for the Raiders were: Collin Webb, Andrew Jenks, Adam Wagner, and Dominic Clementi. Barker also won all three relays. Other contributors for the team were Michael Dalton, Ryan Stevener, Ryan Santasiero, and Nate Heideman.
 
Natalie Menz and Sarah Gendrue captured first place finishes for the Lady Raiders, but the depth of the Channel Cats team was too much to overcome. Katrina Claire, Natalie Bruning, Lena Fazzolari, and Ella Gooding, also had a solid effort.
 
The next meet is Thursday in Barker at 4:30 PM versus Akron. Senior Night is Thursday as all the Barker seniors will be recognized prior to their last career home meet.
 
 
Boys Swim Team Grabs Share Of First Place In N-O League

ALBION -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Albion on Saturday morning and came away with a double win. The Lady Raiders won by a score of 63-21 and now have a league record of 3-3. The Raiders swam past the Purple Eagles by securing 10 of 11 first place events.
 
Winning for the Barker Girls were Carla Stoloski: 200 Free, Natalie Menz: 50 Free & 100 Backstroke, Sara Gendrue: 200 IM & 100 Breaststroke, Ella Gooding: 500 Free & Natalie Bruning: 100 Free. Barker also took first in all three relays.
 
The Barker boys avenged an earlier loss at home by grabbing a tightly contested vicotry, 48-46, over the Purple Eagles. Barker was again led by the trio of Collin Webb, Adam Wagner, and Andrew Jenks, who accounted for five 1st place finishes. Webb, Andrew Jenks, Alex Jenks and Dominic Clementi teamed up to win the 200 Medley Relay. Webb, Andrew Jenks, Wagner and Alex Jenks won the 400 Free Relay. The meet went back and forth with Barker prevailing in the final race to pick up the league tying victory. Barker is now 5-1 in the Niagara-Orleans League and now in a 1st place time with Albion.
 
The next meet is Tuesday when the teams host Roy-Hart at 4:30 PM.
 
 
Dauphinee and Stoloski Contribute Best Times Versus Newfane

BARKER -- The Barker Swim teams hosted the Newfane Panthers on Wednesday night and came away with a split. The boys tamed the Panthers behind the strong showing of double winners, Collin Webb and Andrew Jenks. A supporting cast of Ryan Stevener, William Goodlander and Alex Jenks added best times. The win places the team at 4-1 in league play, entering the second half of the season.
 
Led by double winner Sarah Gendrue, the girls team had a strong meet against the defending league champs by winning 5 events. Gendrue also teamed with Natalie Menz, Chloe Goodlander, Natalie Bruning and Katrina Clare to win 2 relays. Kaitlynn Dauphinee and Carla Stoloski also contributed with best times. Barker completed the first half of the league slate with a 2-3 record.
 
The next meet is scheduled for Friday at 4:30 PM in Albion against the Purple Eagles.
 
 
Clementi Has Strong Performance At Akron

AKRON -- The Raiders Swim teams traveled to Akron on Tuesday night and earned a split with the Tigers. The boys swimmers continued their winning ways behind strong showings by Colin Webb, Adam Wagner, Andrew Jenks, and Dominic Clementi. Barker took 9 of 11 first place finishes. Joe Baronich, Drew Sandolfini, Ryan Santarsiero, and Alex Jenks also contributed in the win.
 
The Lady Raiders were led by senior captains Sara Gendrue and Natalie Menz and also Natalie Bruning, Katrina Clare, and Chloe Goodlander. Ella Gooding, Lena Fazzolari, and Carla Stoloski provided strong efforts.
 
 
Barker Boys Defeat Roy-Hart For First Time In Over 15 Years
December 14, 2017
MIDDLEPORT -- The Raiders Swim teams traveled to Roy-Hart on Thursday night where the Barker boys scored a resounding win against last year's N-O League champs by a score of 93-75. Collin Webb, Andrew Jenks, and Adam Wagner all scored double wins for Barker. Overall, Barker took 8 first place finishes to defeat Roy-Hart for the first time in over 15 years.

The depth of the Roy-Hart team proved too much for the Lady Raiders as they fell to the Rams by a score of 102-64. First place finishes for Barker where Sara Gendrue and Natalie Menz. Natalie Bruning, Chloe Goodlander, Carla Stoloski and Katrina Clare teamed up with Menz and Gendrue to win in the 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays.

Both teams are now 1-1 in league play. Next up for the Raiders is Akron on Tuesday at Akron.

 
Menz Takes First In 200 IM and 100 Free
December 12, 2017
BARKER -- The Barker Swim teams hosted the Albion Purple Eagles on Tuesday for the opening of the N-O League season. Both teams combined for a total of 16 out of a possible 22 first place finishes. The Lady Raiders were led by double winner Natalie Menz in the 200 IM and 100 Free, and Sara Gendrue in the 50 Free and 100 Breaststroke. Natalie Bruning won the 100 Backstroke.  The Lady Raiders combined to sweep all three relays and won the meet 98-69. Carla Stoloski added a second place finish in the 200 Free and 500 Free.
 
The boys came up a little short on an early season showdown with the Purple Eagles. Collin Webb won the 50 Free and 100 Free. Adam Wagner took first in the 200 Free and 500 Free. Andrew Jenks was victorious in the 200 IM. The trio combined with Dominic Clementi and Joe Baronich to win the 200 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay. The avalanche of first place finishes could not hold off the depth of the Albion team. Barker is now 3-1 overall. The next meet is Thursday at Roy-Hart.
 
 
Gendrue Picks Up Lone Individual Girls Win At Attica
December 8, 2017
ATTICA -- The Varsity swim teams traveled to the Attica on Friday and came home with a split to finish non- league competition. Natalie Bruning, Sara Gendrue, Chloe Goodlander, and Natalie Menz captured the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay for the Lady Raiders. Gendrue was the lone individual winner for the Raiders with a victory in the 50 Free. Barker will begin the Niagara-Orleans League portion of their season on Tuesday at 4:30. The boys team will also be in action that afternoon.
 
The boys finished their non-league schedule with a 3-0 record with their win over the Blue Devils. Ryan Santarsiero, Dominic Clementi, Andrew Jenks, and Adam Wagner won the 200 Medley Relay and Collin Webb, Jenks, Clementi and Wagner cruised to first in the 200 Free Relay. Individual winners were Santarsiero, 500 Free; Jenks, 50 Free and 100 Fly; Wagner, 100 Free; Clementi, 100 Breaststroke.
 
 
Wagner Grabs 2 Wins In Season Opening Victory Over Pembroke

BARKER -- The Barker swim teams hosted the Pembroke Dragons on Tuesday night for the first meet of the season. The girls dropped a close one to the Pembroke team by a score of 92-74. Sara Gendrue led the wau with first place victories in the 50 Free and 100 Breaststroke. Natalie Bruning won the 100 Backstroke.  Gendure, Bruning, Lena Fazzolari and Natalie Menz teamed up to win the Medley Relay. Gendrue, Menz, Fazzolari, and Katrina Clare won the 200 Free Relay.
 
The boys team rode a wave of first place finishes to notch a 91-79 win over the Dragons. Double winners for the Raiders were Adam Wagner in the 200 Free and 100 Free, Andrew Jenks in the 200 IM and 100 Fly, and Collin Webb in the 50 Free and 100 Backstroke. Webb, Jenks, Joe Baronich and Dominic Clementi teamed up to win the Medley Relay. Jenks, Baronich, Clementi, and Wagner placed first in the 200 Free Relay. Sophomore Alex Jenks added a first place in the 500 Free.
 
The Raiders play host to Alexander Friday at 4:30 PM.
 
 
 
Webb Completes Stellar Swim Season
March 3 & 4, 2017
EAST MEADOW, NY -- Over the weekend, Collin Webb ended the boy’s swim season by traveling to Long Island where he competed with 460 of the best swimmers from across the state in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championship meet. Webb was the second Barker swimmer to ever compete at the state level and the only Barker swimmer to ever qualify in two events: the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Freestyle. Webb swam well and placed 56th in the 50 Free and 45th in the 100 Free.
 
During the season Webb set two individual records and was a member of two relay teams that also set records. He won multiple league and Class C titles and was awarded Class C Swimmer of the Meet.
 
Record Breaking Performances And State Qualifications For Barker Swimmers
February 13 & 14, 2017
BUFFALO -- Barker Swimmers traveled to Buffalo to compete in the Section VI Championship meet on Monday and Tuesday. After the first day of competition, the Barker swimmers qualified for the championship heat in 3 events. Barker placed in the top 8 out of all Section VI swimmers in each of the those three events. They are part of an elite group of athletes from 55 swim teams across Western New York. To put it in perspective, our swimmers, from the school with the third smallest student body are not only competing against teams with a student body that may be 10 times greater than Barker, but they are winning against those teams.
 
Collin Webb led the way by dropping his 50 Free record again and qualifying for the New York State Championship Meet with a time of 22.10 seconds. Webb also finished 4th in the 100 Freestyle. He also has qualified in the that event for the state meet. Drew Jenks, Collin Stevener, Adam Wagner, and Webb set a new Barker 200 Freestyle Relay record while finishing in 8th place. Competing in individual events at the meet were: Dominic Clementi - 100 Breaststroke; Stevener and Jenks - 100 Butterfly; Wagner - 200 Free; Joey Baronich as a member of the 200 Medley Relay.
 
The boys had a great season, breaking 4 school records along the way. Congratulations to the entire team to and good luck to Webb who will be representing Barker at the state meet next month in New York City. 
 
 
Webb Awarded Oustanding Swimmer of the Meet At Class C Championships
February 3 & 4, 2017
ROCHESTER/NEWFANE -- Collin Webb and Sara Gendrue led an assault on the Barker record board over the weekend at the Class C Championship Meet and the N-O/G-R Girls Crossover Meet. On Friday at Gates Chili High School, Gendrue lowered her previously established marks in the 200 I.M. and 100 Breaststroke. She finished 5th in the I.M. and placed 1st in the Breaststroke, defeating the rest of the competition by 2 seconds. The 200 Medley Relay of Natalie Bruning, Chloe Goodlander, Natalie Menz, and Gendrue placed 3rd. Other top six finishers were:  Natalie Menz - 6th in 50 Free; Bruning, Goodlander, Gendrue, Menz - 400 Free Relay, 6th place. The girls finished the season with a total of 195 personal best times.
 
On Saturday at Newfane, Webb, was involved in re-writing 3 Barker school records, tying a fourth, winning 2 individual events, anchoring 2 winning relays and meeting the state qualifying standard in the 100 Free. Webb is on a short list of Barker swimmers that have qualified to compete at the state level. The last time a Barker swimmer did so was Ryan Levy in 2011. Webb started his impressive meet with a first place finish and Barker school record in the 50 Free. He then did the same in the 100 Free, shattering the record by alomst a second.
 
Teaming up with Collin Stevener, Adam Wagner, and Andrew Jenks, Webb anchored the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay to victories. The relay teams set a new record in the 400 and tied the 200 time. Jenks was Barker's 5th event Champion as he won the 100 Butterfly against strong competition. In light of Webb's impressive performance, he was voted by the coaches as the "Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet" and was awarded a trophy.
 
Other top 6 finishers were: Stevener, Clementi, Jenks, Wagner - 200 Medley Relay, 6th; Wagner - 200 Free, 6th.
 
The boys have recorded 223 improved times this season and have qualified for Sectionals in several events. Those that qualified will travel to ECC on February 13th and 14th.
 
 
Gendrue In On Three School Records At All League Meet 
January 27, 2017
NEWFANE -- After the performances the boys had at the Niagara-Orleans League meet on Wednesday, taking first in 5 events and setting 23 personal best times, the ladies had big shoes to fill on Friday night in their meet. The girls turned in a very impressive meet as well, winning 2 races and setting 23 personal records. The team also broke 3 Barker school records in the process. Sara Gendrue captured two league championships by taking the 200 I.M. and the 100 Breaststroke. Gendrue broke the 200 I.M. record with a time of 2:28.80, which was a 5 second improvement over her previous best time. Gendrue also rewrote the record book by improving her 100 Breastroke time by 2.42 seconds. The I.M. record had stood for 21 years while the Breastroke record, a 37 year old mark, now stands at 1:12.88. Gendrue's time was more than 6 seconds better than the rest of the field.
 
Earlier in the meet, Gendrue teamed up with Natalie Bruning, Chloe Goodlander, and Natalie Menz to break the 200 Medley Relay record and grab a 2nd place finish in a time of 2:02.34. Other top 5 finishers were: Katrina Clare, Ella Gooding, Lena Fazzolari, Shelby Ewald - 3rd in the 200 Medley “B” Relay; Natalie Bruning was 4th in the 200 I.M.; Abby Bachman was 5th in the 200 I.M.; Menz was 4th in the 50 Free; Goodlander, Paige Sandolfini, Fazzolari, Ewald were 2nd in the 200 Free “B” Relay; 400 Free “B” Relay – Anie Carestia, Madison Gancasz, Ewald, Abby Bachman took 3rd in the 400 Free "B" Relay; Menz, Goodlander, Bruning, Gendrue were 3rd in the 400 Free "A" Relay.
 
The girls will prepare for the N-O/G-R Crossover meet to be held on Friday, February 3rd at Gates Chili swimming complex.  
 
 
Boys Swimmers Win 5 Events At Niagara-Orleans All League Meet
January 25, 2017
AKRON -- Barker swimmers competed at Niagara Orleans All League Meet on Wednesday night and to put it bluntly, they shocked the world! Barker produced 5 league champions out of the 11 events. That was more than any other team. Collin Webb repeated as league champion in the 50 and 100 Freestyle events while Andrew Jenks surprised everyone winning the 100 Butterfly. Webb and Jenks teamed up with Collin Stevener and Adam Wagner to win both the 200 and the 400 Freestyles Relays, just missing the 400 record by .01 seconds. Other Barker swimmers who placed in the top 5 were: Stevener 4th in the 100 Butterfly; Dominic Clementi 5th in the 100 Butterfly and 5th in the 100 Breastroke; Stevener, Clementi, Jenks, Kevin Biggs took5th in the 200 Medley Relay; Clementi, Biggs, Joe Baronich, Matthew Pestinger were 1st in the 200 Free “B” Relay; Zach Cogar, Mike Dalton, Alex Jenks, Pestinger were 3rd in the 400 Free “B” Relay.
 
Barker set 23 personal best times were set at the meet for a grand total of 213 for the season. Combined with the 166 from the girls team, there have been a total of 379 between the two teams. The boys will now prepare for the Section VI Class C Championship Meet which will be held on Saturday, February 4th at Newfane.
 
 
Swim Teams Sweep 22 Events Against Medina

BARKER -- The Barker Swim teams hosted Medina on Friday for their last regular season meet and both teams won in impressive fashion. The boys and girls took every first possible - a combined 22 events. Taking top spots for the ladies were: Anie Carestia - 200 and 500 Free; Natalie Menz - 50 and 100 Free; Sara Gendrue - 200 I.M and 100 Breaststroke; Chloe Goodlander - 100 Fly; Natalie Bruning - 100 Back; 200 Medley Relay - Bruning, Gendrue, Goodlander, Menz; 200 Free Relay - Abby Bachman, Katrina Clare, Gendrue, Menz; 400 Free Relay - Goodlander, Carestia, Bachman, Bruning.
 
The ladies are now 8-6 overall and 4-6 in league competition.
 
Top finishers for the boys were: Adam Wagner - 200 and 500 Free; Drew Jenks - 200 I.M and 100 Breaststroke; Collin Stevener - 50 Free and 100 Fly; Collin Webb - 100 Free and 100 Back; 200 Medley Relay - Webb, Stevener, Dominic Clementi, Jenks; 200 Free Relay - Kevin Biggs, Clementi, Wagner, Jenks; 400 Free Relay - Matthew Pestinger, Stevener, Wagner, Webb.
 
The boys have a 9-5 overall record and are 6-4 in Niagara-Orleans League competition.
 
The swimmers will compete in the All League meets on Wednesday, January 25th when the boys travel to Akron and then on Friday, January 27th when the girls are at Newfane.
 
 
Season Total For Personal Records Hits 300
January 18, 2017
BARKER -- There were 33 personal best times performed as the Raider swimmers put on a show for the spectators on Wednesday night at home in a meet with Newfane. Chloe Goodlander set personal records in all four of her events and Alex Jenks led the boys with three. The season total for improvements is 332. 

The meet results were a split decision as the boys won, but the girls fell short to the perennial Niagara-Orleans League Champions. Firsts for Barker were: Natalie Menz - 50 Free; Abby Bachman - 100 Breaststroke; Collin Webb - 50 and 100 Free; Dominic Clementi - 100 Fly; 200 Free Relay - Adam Wagner, Clementi, Kevin Biggs, Webb; 400 Free Relay: Jenks, Matthew Pestinger, Wagner, Webb.

The season record for the girls is 7-6 while the boys sit at 8-5 with one more dual meet. The final meet will be at home vs. Medina on Friday, January 20th and it will be Senior Recognition Night.

 
Wagner Wins 200 & 100 Free Races
January 12, 2017
AKRON -- The Barker Raiders swimmers competed in their last regular season away meet on Thursday when they traveled to Akron to take on the Tigersharks. It was some stiff competition. There was a split with the boys winning and the girls losing. Sara Gendrue and Natalie Menz were double winners for the ladies with Gendrue taking the 200 Free and the 100 Breaststroke while Menz won both the 50 and 100 Free. The ladies team record is 3-5 in the league and 7-5 overall.
 
The boys were able to claim victory in 10 events on their way to taking the meet. Winners were: Adam Wagner - 200 and 100 Free; Andrew Jenks - 200 I.M. and 500 Free; Collin Webb - 50 Free and 100 Back; Dominic Clementi - 100 Breaststroke. Winning relays were: Webb, Jenks, Clementi, Collin Stevener - 200 Medley; Matthew Pestinger, Zack Cogar, Joseph Baronich, Michael Dalton - 200 Free; Pestinger, Stevener, Wagner, Alex Jenks - 400 Free. The boys' record is 4-4 in the league and 7-5 overall.

Swim Teams Fight Fatigue To Compete Against Roy-Hart

BARKER -- The teams had the difficult task of returning to the pool on Saturday morning to compete with Roy-Hart for an 11:00 AM meet after an afternoon meet with Albion the day before. In spite of their tired bodies, the Raiders swam tough. The girls lost 75-91, taking 5 of 11 races. Natalie Menz and Sara Gendrue were double winners in individual events. Menz won the 50 and 100 Free while Gendrue took the 200 Free and 100 Breaststroke. Menz and Gendrue also teamed up with Abby Bachman and Katrina Clare to win the 200 Free Relay.
 
The girls team has a 3-3 league record and 7-3 overall.
 
The boys took 6 of 11 firsts against the defending league champions, losing 71-98. Collin Webb was a double winner in individual events, taking the 50 and 100 Free. Adam Wagner won the 200 Free and Drew Jenks took the 500 Free. Webb and Jenks teamed up with Collin Stevener and Joe Baronich to win the 200 Medley Relay. Webb, Jenks, Wagner, and Dominic Clementi won the 200 Free Relay.
 
The boys are 3-3 in the league and 6-4 overall. At the midway point of the season, Barker swimmers have performed 255 personal best times.

BARKER -- There was a lot of excitement in the pool Friday night as the Albion Purple Eagles came to town. The teams split with Albion with the girls winning 110-60 and the boys losing by a mere 2 points, 84-86. The Barker girls won 8 of the 11 events. Sara Gendrue was an individual double winner taking both the 200 I.M. and the 100 Breaststroke. Other winners were: Natalie Bruning - 100 Backstroke; Anie Carestia - 500 Free; Natalie Menz - 50 Free. Winning relays were: 200 Medley - Bruning, Abby Bachman, Chloe Goodlander, Menz; 200 Free - Menz, Bachman, Katrina Clare, Gendrue; 400 Free - Goodlander, Carestia, Bruning, Gendrue.
 
Although the boys lost the meet, they took 7 of 11 events and swam 28 personal best times.  Individual winners were: Collin Webb - 50 Free and 100 Back; Drew Jenks - 200 I.M. and 500 Free; Collin Stevener - 50 Free. The winning relays were: 200 Medley - Stevener, Jenks, Webb, Joe Baronich; 400 Free- Stevener, Jenks, Webb, Adam Wagner. 
 
 
 
Carestia & Gendrue Are Double Winners Against Medina

MEDINA -- Barker Swimmers picked up victories in both the girls and the boys competition in Medina on Wednesday night. The scores were 99-71 for the girls and 94-76 for the boys. The ladies won 9 of 11 events while the guys took all 11 events. Victors for the girls were:  200 Medley Relay - Natalie Bruning, Abby Bachman, Chloe Goodlander, Natalie Menz; 200 Free Relay - Sara Gendrue, Bachman, Katrina Clare, Menz; 400 Free Relay - Anie Carestia, Goodlander, Bruning, Gendrue. There were two double winners: Carestia - 200 and 500 Free; Gendrue - 200 I.M. and 100 Breaststroke. Other individual winners were: Goodlander - 100 Butterfly; Bruning - 100 Backstroke. The team is 6-2.

The girls won 59-35, while the boys lost a close one 42-52. Taking 7 events, the girls remained unbeaten for the season at 5-0. Final Tune-Up For Barker Swimmers

BERGEN -- In the final non-league meet of the season, the boys and girls swim teams won convincingly against the Byron Bergen Bees on Tuesday. The girls are now 4-0 and the boys are 3-1. The ladies won 9 of 11 events including all three relays. Winners were: 200 Medley Relay - Natalie Menz, Abby Bachman, Natalie Bruning, Katrina Clare; 200 Free Relay - Bachman, Anie Carestia, Menz, Sara Gendrue; 400 Free Relay - Gendrue, Chloe Goodlander, Carestia, Bruning. Individually, Menz and Gendrue each took 2 events: Menz - 50 Free and 100 Back and Gendrue - 200 Free and 500 Free. Also winning individual events were: Bruning - 100 Fly; Bachman - 100 Free.

The boys team grabbed 9 events as well, including the three relays. Winners were: 200 Medley Relay - Zack Cogar, Dominic Clementi, Andrew Jenks, Collin Webb; 200 Free Relay - Jenks, Matthew Pestinger, Adam Wagner, Webb; 400 Free Relay - Webb, Pestinger, Clementi, Wagner. Grabbing victories in individual events were: Jenks, a double winner - 100 Fly and 100 Breaststroke; Adam Wagner, winning twic - 200 Free and 100 Back; Webb - 500 Free; Clementi - 200 I.M.

The Raiders kick off the regular season in Albion on Monday, December 12th against the Purple Eagles.
 
 
Girls Swim Team Races To 3-0 Start

BARKER -- The Raider Swim teams put on a show for the crowd in defeating the tough Attica Blue Devils at home on Saturday. The girls won 99-62 and the boys won 86-80. The girls claimed 7 events as they remained undefeated at 3-0 on the season. Winning relay teams were: 200 Medley - Natalie Bruning, Sara Gendrue, Chloe Goodlander, Natalie Menz; 200 Free - Gendrue, Katrina Clare, Anie Carestia, Menz; 400 Free - Carestia, Clare, Goodlander, Bruning. Individual event winners were: Gendrue - 200 I.M. and 100 Breaststroke; Menz - 50 and 100 Free.
 
The boys took 5 events to raise their record to 2-1. Winning relay teams were: 200 Medley - Collin Stevener, Dominic Clementi, Andrew Jenks, Collin Webb; 200 Free - Matthew Pestinger, Clementi, Adam Wagner, Webb. Jenks was a double winner taking the 200 I.M. and 500 Free.
 
Barker swimmers have improved their PR’s 85 times in the first 3 meets! The team will travel to Byron Bergen on Tuesday to complete the non-league portion of the season.

Winning for the boys were: Collin Webb - 50 and 100 Free; Andrew Jenks - 200 I.M and 500 Free; Collin Stevener - 100 Fly and 100 Back; Adam Wagner - 200 Free; Dominic Clementi - 100 Breaststroke; 200 Medley Relay - Stevener, Clementi, Jenks, Webb; 200 Free Relay - Clementi, Matthew Pestinger, Wagner, Webb; 400 Free Relay - Christian Young, Zachary Lawson, Sergio Bautista-Lopez, Michael Dalton.

Girls Swim Team Begins Season With Victory

BARKER -- The Barker Swim teams opened the 2016-2017 season competing against the Pembroke Dragons in a meet that resulted in a victory for the ladies and a close loss for the boys. The Lady Raiders took first in all 11 events. Winners were: 200 Medley Relay - Natalie Bruning, Abby Bachman, Chloe Goodlander, Natalie Menz; 200 Free Relay - Sara Gendrue, Bachman, Anie Carestia, Menz; 400 Free Relay - Carestia, Goodlander, Bruning, Gendrue. Taking individual firsts were: Carestia - 200 and 500 Free; Gendrue - 200 I.M. and 100 Breaststroke; Menz - 50 and 100 Free; Goodlander - 100 Fly; Bruning - 100 Back.
 
The boys placed 1st in the opening 8 events, but could not keep up with the number of swimmers on the other team. Placing 1st were: Collin Stevener, Dominic Clementi, Andrew Jenks, Collin Webb - 200 Medley Relay; Adam Wagner - 200 Free; Jenks - 200 I.M. and 500 Free; Webb - 50 and 100 Free; Stevener - 100 Fly; Webb, Clementi, Wagner, Jenks - 200 Free Relay.

200 Free Relay Team Turns In School Record Setting Performance
February 24, 2016
BUFFALO -- The Boys Swim team completed the 2015-16 season at the Section VI Championships by placing 18th out 33 teams and were the top Niagara Orleans League school in total points. Barker finished the meet with a new school record time of 1:32.85 in the 200 Free Relay, bettering the record set last season. Collin Webb, Collin Stevener, Ian Goodlander, and Andrew Jenks teamed up to turn in a great performance and placed 10th out of 29 entries. The same four swimmers placed 16th out of 36 teams entered in the 200 Medley Relay. Individually, Webb was outstanding, finishing 7th out of 53 swimmers in the 50 Free and 6th overall in the 100 Free.
 
 
Girls Swimming Makes Splash At GR/N-O Championships
February 5, 2016
ROCHESTER -- On Friday the Barker Girls Swim team completed their season at the GR/N-O Championship meet at Gates Chili. The meet was a scored meet that pitted swimmers from 14 schools against each. Barker was the 2nd highest placing team from the Niagara-Orleans League and finished fourth overall. Points were awarded to the following relays: 200 Medley Relay - Natalie Bruning, Abby Bachman, Chloe Goodlander, Mireia Coll-Vinent who finished in 10th; 400 Free Relay - Natalie Menz, Anie Carestia, Emma Jenks, Sara Gendrue took 4th; 200 Free Relay - Coll-Vinent, Gendrue, Jenks, Menz grabbed 3rd.
 
Individually, the following swimmers scored points: Goodlander - 15th in 100 Backstroke, Bruning - 16th in 100 Backstroke; Coll-Vinent - 9th in 50 Free and 13th in 100 Backstroke; Bachman - 7th in 100 Breaststroke and 11th in 200 I.M.; Carestia - 9th in the 500 Free and 10th in the 200 Free; Jenks - 10th in the 100 Free and 16th in the 200 Free; Gendrue - 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke and 5th in the 200 I.M.; Menz - 2nd in the 50 Free and 5th in the 100 Free. 
 
 
Lady Raiders .2 Seconds From Record Time 
February 2, 2016
NEWFANE -- The Lady Raiders Swim team competed in the Niagara-Orleans League Championship Meet and swam some great times. The highlight of the meet was the 200 Free Relay of Mireia Coll-Vinent, Sara Gendrue, Emma Jenks, and Natalie Menz dropping 5 seconds and stealing first over the top seeded Newfane team. The Barker time is only .2 seconds from tying the Barker school record. Girls that finished in the top 3 were awarded ribbons. In addition to the 200 Free Relay team, other top finishers were: Menz, Gendrue, Jenks, and Anie Carestia - 2nd in the 400 Free Relay; Gendrue - 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke and 3rd in the 200 I.M.; Menz - 2nd in the 50 Free and 3rd in the 100 Free; Coll-Vinent, Natalie Bruning, Katrina Clare, Chloe Goodlander - 2nd in the 400 Free “B” Relay.
 
10 Girls have qualified to compete in Friday’s GR/N-O Crossover meet at Gates Chili.
 
 
Stevener Is League Champion In 100 Butterfly 
January 29, 2016
AKRON -- The Barker Boys Swim team competed at the Niagara-Orleans League Championships on Friday night and swam their most impressive meet of the season. There were 27 personal best performances and the Raiders earned first place patches in 5 of 11 events. Collin Webb was outstanding, as he was the only swimmer in the meet to bring home 4 first place patches. Webb won the 50 Free in impressive fashion and followed that up with a shocking time of 49.98 seconds to win the 100 Free. Webb's time was second best in BCS history. Webb was also a member of the victorious 200 Medley Relay, which included teammates Collin Stevener, Ian Goodlander, and Andrew Jenks. The relay team upset the top seeded team from Newfane. Webb, Stevener, Goodlander, and Jenks duplicated that performance by swimming away with the victory in the 200 Free Relay. Stevener was Barker’s other individual league champion as he brought home a patch in the 100 Butterfly.
 
Top three finishers received ribbons. Other ribbons were claimed by: Jenks who was 2nd in the 500 Free and 3rd in the 200 I.M.; Zach Cogar, Joe Baronich, Dominic Clementi, Kevin Biggs who took 1st place in the 200 Medley “B” Relay; Clementi, Matthew Pestinger, Adam Wagner, Biggs with a 1st in the 200 Free “B” Relay.
 
Several of the boys will continue to swim in preparation for the Section VI Class C Championships which will be held on Saturday, February 13th at Newfane.
 
 
Raiders Take 2 In Final Tune Up For Post Season Competition 
January 26, 2016
MEDINA -- The Barker Swim teams swept Medina to close out the regular season on Tuesday night. The girls won 99-71 and the boys earned an 89-81 victory. The girls won 7 events, grabbing the first 5 to take a commanding lead. Three girls were double winners: Sara Gendrue - 200 I.M. and 100 Breaststroke; Anie Carestia - 200 and 500 Free; Natalie Menz 50 and 100 Free. Menz, Gendrue, Chloe Goodlander, and Mireia Coll-Vinent also teamed up to win the 200 Medley Relay. The Lady Raiders finish the season with a league record of 6-4 and were 9-5 overall.

The boys took the first 8 events as they played spoiler to Medina’s effort to finish second in the league. Collin Stevener, Ian Goodlander, Andrew Jenks, and Collin Webb started with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay. Webb, Goodlander, and Jenks also teamed up with Kevin Biggs to win the 200 Free Relay. Doubling up in the individual events were Webb - 50 and 100 Free; Jenks - 200 I.M. and 500 Free. Providing other wins were Adam Wagner in the 200 Free and Collin Stevener in the 100 Fly. The boys are 4-6 in league competition and 7-7 overall.

The teams will now prepare for post season meets, which begin this Friday.

BARKER -- Friday afternoon the Barker Swim teams hosted Roy-Hart and the result was a split decision. The girls won 104-66 while the boys lost 108-62 to this season’s league champions. The ladies took 9 of the 11 events: 200 Medley Relay - Natalie Menz, Sara Gendrue, Chloe Goodlander, Mireia Coll-Vinent; 200 Free Relay - Coll-Vinent, Abby Bachman, Emma Jenks, Menz; 400 Free Relay - Anie Carestia, Goodlander, Jenks, Gendrue; Carestia - 200 and 500 Free; Gendrue - 200 I.M. and 100 Breaststroke; Menz - 50 and 100 Free.
 
The winners for the boys were: 200 Medley Relay - Collin Stevener, Ian Goodlander, Andrew Jenks, Collin Webb; 200 Free Relay - Jenks, Kevin Biggs, Goodlander, Webb; 50 Free - Goodlander; 100 Breaststroke - Jenks.
 
The teams will complete the regular season on Tuesday night tonight when they travel to Medina. 
 
Coll-Vinent Part Of Winning Relay Team 
January 20, 2016
NEWFANE -- The Raider Swim teams visited Newfane on Wednesday night and swam 27 personal best times. Unfortunately for both teams, they were not able to secure a team victory. This season, team members have improved 334 times. The ladies swam hard, but lost 101-79 to the perennial N-O League Champions. Natalie Menz won the 50 Free and was a member of the victorious 200 Free Relay with Mireia Coll-Vinent, Emma Jenks, and Sara Gendrue.
 
The boys were very competitive and kept the score close at 89-77. There were two individual winners: Collin Webb won the 50 Free and Andrew Jenks took the 200 I.M. Webb, Jenks, Dominic Clementi, and Adam Wagner teamed up to win the 200 Free Relay.
 
The Raiders will host Roy-Hart Friday for their last home meet of the season and for Senior Night.
 
 
Swim Teams Gain Split With Akron
January 19, 2016 
BARKER -- The Barker swim teams hosted Akron on Tuesday night and entertained the crowd with the most exciting girls meet of the season. The girls goal was to cut into the 22 point deficit from the December meet and succeeded in trimming it down to only 4 points, losing 87-83. The meet came down to 34/100 of a second in the final event. Victors for the ladies were: 200 Free Relay - Mireia Coll-Vinent, Sara Gendrue, Emma Jenks, Natalie Menz. Individual event winners were 100 Breaststroke - Gendrue and double winner Menz in the 50 and 100 Free. Another highlight that must be mentioned is Anie Carestia’s performance in the 500 free. She battled for 20 lengths and was touched out, but swam a time only 2 seconds from breaking our school record.
 
The boys won handily 108-57, taking 9 of 11 events. The Raiders grabbed all three relays. Relay members were: 200 Medley - Andrew Jenks, Ian Goodlander, Collin Stevener,  Collin Webb; 200 Free - Webb, Dominic Clementi, Goodlander, Adam Wagner; 400 Free - Jenks, Matthew  Pestinger, Wagner, Stevener. The boys had two double individual winners: Andrew Jenks - 200 I.M.  And 500 Free; Collin Webb - 50 and 100 Free. Other individual victors were: Wagner - 200 Free; Stevener - 100 Fly.
 
There were 46 personal best performances making the grand total 307 for the season. The teams travel to Newfane on Wednesday to take on the Panthers. The meet starts at 4:30.

ALBION -- Barker swimmers traveled to Albion to take on the Purple Eagles Thursday afternoon and the result was a split decision. The ladies won 69-25 placing first in 9 of 11 events while the guys came up just short, 50-44 as they took 7 of 11 events. Girls placing first were: 200 Medley Relay - Natalie Menz, Sara Gendrue, Chloe Goodlander, Katrina Clare; 200 Free Relay - Mireia Coll-Vinent, Abby Bachman, Emma Jenks, Menz; 400 Free Relay - Anie Carestia, Goodlander, Jenks, Gendrue; 50 Free - Menz; 100 Fly - Goodlander; 100 Breaststroke - Bachman; 100 Back - Gendrue; Carestia was an individual double winner taking the 200 and 500 Free events.
 
For the boys, first place finishers were: 200 Medley Relay - Collin Stevener, Ian Goodlander, Andrew Jenks, Collin Webb; 200 Free Relay - Webb, Dominic Clementi, Goodlander, Jenks; 100 Fly - Stevener. The boys had two individual double winners. Collin Webb won the 50 and 100 Free and Andrew Jenks won the 200 I.M. and 500 Free.
 
There were many great times. The next meet is Tuesday against Akron in Barker as the girls try to even the score with the Lady Tiger Sharks.

BARKER -- It was a great night at the pool on Thursday as the Barker Swim teams swept Medina to complete the first half of the season. The ladies won 97-73, taking first in 7 events. Winners for the Lady Raiders were: Natalie Menz - 50 and 100 Free; Sara Gendrue - 200 Free and 100 Breaststroke; Anie Carestia - 500 Free; Gendrue, Abby Bachman, Emma Jenks, Menz - 200 Free Relay; Carestia, Chloe Goodlander, Jenks, Gendrue - 400 Free Relay.
 
The boys score was 91-77 as the Raiders took the first 8 events against the #2 ranked team in the league. Taking firsts were: Collin Stevener, Ian Goodlander, Andrew Jenks and Collin Webb - 200 Medley Relay; Adam Wagner - 200 Free; Jenks - 200 I.M. and 500 Free; Webb - 50 and 100 Free; Stevener - 100 Fly; Webb, Dominic Clementi, Goodlander, Jenks - 200 Free Relay.
 
There were 39 personal best performances. The Raiders are at home next Tuesday against Akron.

MIDDLEPORT -- The Barker swimmers started 2016 with a split decision in their meet with Roy-Hart. The girls won 92-77 using their team depth by filling every lane. The boys lost 102-60 as they suffered from leaving too many lanes open. The list of winners for the girls included: Anie Carestia - 200 I.M.; Sara Gendrue - 200 Free and 100 Breaststroke; Natalie Menz - 50 and 100 Free; Gendrue, Abby Bachman, Carestia, Emma Jenks - 200 Free Relay; Carestia, Chloe Goodlander, Gendrue, Menz - 400 Free Relay.
 
Winners for the boys were: Collin Stevener - 100 Fly; Andrew Jenks - 500 Free; Collin Webb - 50 and 100 Free; Webb, Ian Goodlander, Dominic Clementi, Jenks - 200 Free Relay.

Raiders Continue To Improve In Pool

BARKER -- The Barker Swimmers hosted the Newfane Panthers on Friday night and although both Raiders teams were on the losing end of the score, they swam 35 personal best times making the total 160 for the season. Highlights of the meet were first place finishes by: Natalie Menz in the 50 Free and also the 200 Free Relay team of Menz, Anie Carestia, Sara Gendrue, and Emma Jenks. For the boys, Collin Webb won the 50 and 100 Free and was also part of the 200 Free Relay team with Dominic Clementi, Ian Goodlander, and Andrew Jenks. Christian Young had everyone in the pool room cheering him on as he completed his first attempt at the 500 and made it look easy.
 
The meet was the last of 2015. The next meet is at Roy-Hart on January 5.

BARKER -- The Tuesday night Swim meet with Albion had a whirlwind beginning and ended with mixed results. The girls won 106-59, but the boys lost a close one 81-85. The ladies won 8 of 11 events in route to their victory. Natalie Menz, Sara Gendrue, Chloe Goodlander, Emma Jenks were victorious in the 200 Medley Relay. Menz, Mireia Coll-Vincent, Abby Bachman, and Jenks won the 200 Free Relay. Bachman, Anie Carestia, Goodlander, and Gendrue took top honors in the 400 Free Relay. Individual winners were: Anie Carestia - 200 and 500 Free; Jenks - 50 Free; Gendrue - 100 Backstroke and 100 Breaststroke.
 
The boys took 7 events, but didn’t fill the lanes, thus missing out on valuable points. Relay winners were: 200 Medley Relay - Collin Stevener, Ian Goodlander, Andrew Jenks, Kevin Biggs; 200 Free Relay - Stevener, Goodlander, Jenks, and Collin Webb. Individual winners were: Webb - 200 and 100 Free; Jenks - 200 I.M. and 500 Free; Stevener - 100 Fly.
 
Members from both teams had many personal records. On Friday Barker will host the Newfane Panthers at 4:30.

AKRON -- The Barker swimmers traveled to Akron on Thursday and came home with a split. The boys won 99-63 while the girls lost 74-96. There were 3 individual winners for the ladies. Winners were: Natalie Menz - 50 Free; Chloe Goodlander - 100 Fly; Sara Gendrue - 100 Free and 100 Breaststroke.  There were many best times turned in by the girls, who now have a 3-2 record.
 
The boys won every event and many were best times. Individual winners were: Adam Wagner - 200 Free; Drew Jenks - 200 I.M. and 100 Free; Collin Webb - 50 and 500 Free; Collin Stevener - 100 Fly and 100 Back; Ian Goodlander - 100 Breaststroke. Winning relay members were: 200 Medley - Stevener, Goodlander, Jenks, Webb; 200 Free - Webb, Dominic Clementi, Goodlander, Jenks; 400 Free - Clementi, Kevin Biggs, Wagner, Stevener. The boys have a 4-1 record.
 
The teams compete next Tuesday at home against Albion. The start time has been moved to 4:00. 
 
 
Carestia Best Personal Record In 200 Free

ATTICA -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Attica to take on the Blue Devils for their last non-league meet of the season. Both teams turned in some impressive performances, but both were handed their first loss of the season. The girls score was 59-42 and the boys 57-37. The ladies started off with victories in the first two events. Natalie Menz, Sara Gendrue, Chloe Goodlander, and Emma Jenks won the 200 Medley Relay and Anie Carestia took the 200 Free as she posted a new personal record.
 
The boys were productive, pulling out 5 firsts, but needed a few more second place finishes to keep it close. Relay winners were: 200 Medley Relay - Collin Stevener, Ian Goodlander, Andrew Jenks, Collin Webb; 200 Free Relay - Webb, Goodlander, Dominic Clementi, Jenks. Individual winners were: Webb - 50 Free; Stevener - 100 Fly; and Jenks - 500 Free.
 
The Raiders will travel to Akron on Tuesday for a 4:30 meet with the Tiger Sharks.

SCOTTSVILLE -- Wednesday night the Raiders Swim teams took on once mighty Wheatland Chili and dominated the Wildcats by taking first in every event. The girls won 90-42 and were led by the following event winners: 200 Medley Relay - Natalie Menz, Abby Bachman, Chloe Goodlander, Sara Gendrue; 200 Free Relay - Natalie Menz, Katrina Clare, Abby Bachman, Sara Gendrue; 400 Free Relay - Katrina Clare, Alaina Israel, Anie Carestia, Chloe Goodlander; 200 and 500 Free - Anie Carestia; 50 Free and 100 Back - Natalie Menz; 100 Free and 100 Breaststroke -Sara Gendrue; 200 I.M. Abby Bachman; 100 Fly - Chloe Goodlander.

BARKER -- The Raiders Swim teams opened the season with solid wins over the Pembroke Dragons last night in Barker. The girls won 92-70 taking 8 of 11 events. Winners were: 200 Medley Relay - Anie Carestia, Sara Gendrue, Chloe Goodlander, Abby Bachman; 200 Free - Alaina Israel; 200 I.M. and 500 Free - Anie Carestia; 100 Fly and 100 Back - Chloe Goodlander; 100 Free and 100 Breaststroke - Sara Gendrue. There were many other girls who helped secure the victory with their performances.
 
The boys won 90-74, and took first in 10 of 11 events. Victors of the races were: 200 Medley Relay - Collin Stevener, Ian Goodlander, Andrew Jenks, Collin Webb; 200 Free Relay - Collin Webb, Dominic Clementi, Ian Goodlander, Andrew Jenks; 200 Free - Adam Wagner; 200 I.M. and 500 Free - Andrew Jenks; 50 and 100 Free - Collin Webb; 100 Fly and 100 Back - Collin Stevener; 100 Breaststroke - Ian Goodlander. Many of the other swimmers were instrumental in picking up important points.

Webb And Relay Teams Impressive 
February 6, 2015
CHEEKTOWAGA -- The Boys Swim team competed in the Class C Championships on Friday afternoon and did not come home disappointed. Casey Webb was the Class C Champion in the 50 and 100 Freestyle and was the anchor of the 400 Free Relay. The other 3 members of the relay were Collin Webb, Alex Goodlander, and Drew Jenks. Based on his accomplishments, the coaches recognized Casey as the Outstanding Performer of the meet. The relays members also placed 2nd in the 200 Free Relay and broke Barker’s 18 year old school record.
 
Other top finishers were: Collin Webb, 3rd in the 50 and 100 Free, and Jenks who was 6th in the 200 I.M.
 
The boys will compete Thursday and Friday against the top 24 swimmers in each event at a special Sectional meet. Barker will have entries in 4 events.
 
 
Gendrue Nabs 4 Top 8 Finishes At G-R/N-O Championships

CHILI -- The Lady Raiders Swim team made a long trek to Gates Chili High School to compete in the G-R/N-O Championship Meet on Thursday and placed 4th out of 14 teams. Barker was the 2nd N-O League team when the final scores were tabulated. Girls who earned top 8 honors were: 200 Medley Relay - Grayce Weller, Sara Gendrue, Chloe Goodlander, Natalie Menz, 7th; 50 Free - Menz, 6th; 100 Free - Gendrue, 7th and Emma Jenks, 8th; 200 Free Relay - Menz, Allie Austin, Renee Levy, Jenks, 4th; 100 Breaststroke - Gendrue, 2nd, and Ann Buffington, 8th; 400 Free Relay - Jenks, Anie Carestia, Gendrue, Levy, 6th.
 
The meet was a great end to the season for the girls. The boys team will now compete in sectionals at Maryvale on Friday, February 6.
 
 
Goodlander Secures Top 25 Spot 
February 3, 2015
NEWFANE -- The Girls’ Swim team traveled to Newfane to compete in the 29th Annual Niagara-Orleans League Championships and took 7 top three finishers. Taking first were the 200 Medley “B” Relay - Maya Gooding, Ann Buffington, Chloe Goodlander, Jordan Donner and the 200 Free “B” Relay - Abby Bachman, Buffington, Donner, Anie Carestia. Placing 2nd were: Natalie Menz - 50 Free, and Sara Gendrue - 100 Breaststroke. Two relays also grabbed second place finishes: 200 Free “A” Relay - Menz, Allie Austin, Renee Levy, Emma Jenks and the 400 Free “B” Relay - Alaina Israel, Chloe Goodlander, Donner, Bachman. Goodlander placed 3rd in the 100 Fly as she crushed her best time and secured 6th place on the Barker top 25 list.
 
The ladies will travel to Gates Chili to compete in the GR-NO Crossover meet. The boys will travel to Maryvale on Friday to participate in the Class C championships. 
 
 
Barker Swimmers Create Buzz At All League Meet 
January 31, 2015
NEWFANE -- The Boys Niagara-Orleans All League Meet was held on Saturday. The Raiders were the talk of the meet, earning 5 of 11 first place patches as each of the boys hit a personal best in one or more of their events. Casey Webb put on a swimming clinic winning the 200 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle. while younger brother Collin Webb crushed the field in the 50 Freestyle. Collin and Casey teamed up with Andrew Jenks and Alex Goodlander to win the 200 and 400 Free Relays.
 
Athletes earning second place ribbons were: 200 Medley Relay - Alex and Ian Goodlander, Collin Stevener, Patrick Desmarais; 100 Free - Collin Webb; 100 Backstroke - Alex Goodlander; 200 Free “B” Relay - Dominic Clementi, Zach Cogar, Brian Cogar, Desmarais; 400 Free “B” Relay - Adam Wagner, Zach Cogar, Brian Cogar, Stevener.
 
Bringing home 3rd place ribbons were: 200 I.M. - Jenks; 100 Breaststroke - Ian Goodlander.
 
The boys will compete at the Class C Championships on Friday at Maryvale.
 
 
Split With Medina Gives Both Swim Teams 7-3 Mark
January 29, 2015
BARKER -- Both swim teams placed second in the N-O League with identical 7-3 records after a split on Thursday night with the Medina Seahorses. The girls took a 103-76 decision while the boys lost a close one 89.5-80.5. 28 personal best times were performed, bringing the season total to 368. Six different ladies grabbed firsts: Renee Levy - 200 Free, Natalie Menz - 50 Free, Emma Jenks - 100 Free, Anie Carestia - 500 Free, Grayce Weller - 100 Back, and Sara Gendrue - 100 Breaststroke. Winning relays were: 200 Medley - Weller, Gendrue, Allie Austin, Menz; 200 Free - Jenks, Austin, Levy, Menz; 400 Free - Jenks, Carestia, Gendrue, Levy.
 
The boys competed shorthanded as they attempted to maintain sole possession of 2nd place, but lacked the bodies to fill the events. Alex Goodlander placed first in the 200 I.M and the 100 Back. Collin Webb took the 200 and 100 Free events and Casey Webb claimed the 50 Free. The Webb and Goodlander brothers also touched first in the 400 Free Relay.  
 
 
Six Year Drought Ended
January 27, 2015
MIDDLEPORT -- Tuesday night the Lady Raiders Swim team did something they had not done since January 27, 2009: defeat Roy-Hart. Not only was it on the same date, but it was by the same score, 87-83. This win put the team in a tie for second place in the league with the Rams. They did it with team depth as they only took first in 4 events. Winners were: Sara Gendrue - 100 Free and 100 Breaststroke, Natalie Menz - 100 Back, and Allie Austin, Anie Carestia, Renee Levy and Emma Jenks - 200 Free Relay. The win gives the team a 9-4 overall record and 6-3 in the league.
 
The boys were victorious in 8 of 11 events against the 9 time defending N-O League champions. Barker lacked the depth necessary to close out a victory, falling to the Rams by a 92-78 count. The Raiders had two double winners: Casey Webb - 100 Fly and 200 Free and Collin Webb - 50 and 100 Free. Other winners included: Andrew Jenks - 500 Free and Alex Goodlander - 100 Back. Barker took two relays: Collin Webb, Casey Webb, Ian Goodlander, Andrew Jenks - 200 Free Relay; Collin Webb, Casey Webb, Jenks, Alex Goodlander - 400 Free Relay. The boys are 9-4 overall, and 7-2 in the league which is good for 2nd place.
 
Medina comes to town Thursday hoping to avenge earlier season losses. The teams will fight to hold onto their spots in the league and the Barker seniors will be honored at their last home meet. Races begin at 4:30. 
 
 
Desmarais Part Of 3 Barker Victories

NEWFANE -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Newfane Friday and split with the Panthers. The boys won 91-65 and the girls performed well in losing to the defending N-O League champions, 93-77. 23 more personal best times were set, making the total 313 for the season. The Lady Raiders took 2 individual firsts: Natalie Menz - 50 Free, and Cloe Goodlander - 100 Fly. The 400 Free Relay team of Renee Levy, Natalie Menz, Sara Gendrue, Emma Jenks also won.
 
The boys didn’t have any double winners in the individual events, but claimed victory all but two. Individual winners were: Andrew Jenks - 200 I.M., Patrick Desmarais - 50 Free, Casey Webb - 100 Fly, Collin Webb - 100 Free, Alex Goodlander - 100 Back, and Ian Goodlander - 100 Breaststroke. Barker claimed all three relays: 200 Medley - Alex Goodlander, Ian Goodlander, Jenks, Desmarais; 200 Free - Ian Goodlander, Desmarais, Jenks, Collin Webb; 400 Free - Casey Webb, Adam Wagner, Alex Goodlander, Collin Webb.
 
The swimming Raiders travel to Roy-Hart to take on the Channel Cats on Tuesday.

Both teams secured victories to give both squads identical records of 8-3. Barker touched first in 18 events and took first and second in 8 events. Winners for the girls were: 200 Medley - Grayce Weller, Sara Gendrue, Allie Austin, Natalie Menz; 200 Free - Emma Jenks, Gendrue, Austin, Renee Levy; 400 Free - Levy, Menz, Anie Carestia, Jenks; Menz - 50 Free and 100 Back; Chloe Goodlander - 100 Fly; Jenks - 100 Free; Gendrue - 100 Breaststroke.

AKRON -- The Barker Swim teams clashed with the Akron Tiger Sharks on Thursday as round 2 of the N-O League dual meets began. Both Raiders teams were victorious as they both improved to 6-3. The girls won 99-71, taking first in 5 events. The 4 different individuals winners were: Sara Gendrue - 200 I.M., Natalie Menz - 50 Free, Emma Jenks - 100 Free, and Chloe Goodlander - 100 Fly. Menz, Abby Bachman, Gendrue, and Renee Levy teamed up to take the 400 Free Relay.
 
The boys took first in all of the events. Casey Webb and Andrew Jenks were double winners in individual events as Webb took the 200 and 100 Freestyle races while Jenks claimed the 200 I.M. and 500 Free. Other winners were: Patrick Desmarais - 50 Freestyle, Collin Webb - 100 Fly, Alex Goodlander - 100 Back, and Ian Goodlander - 100 Breaststroke. The winning relay teams were: 200 Medley Relay - Alex and Ian Goodlander, Collin Stevener, Collin Webb; 200 Free Relay - Collin and Casey Webb, Alex Goodlander, Jenks; 400 Free Relay - Casey Webb, Adam Wagner, Desmarais, Stevener.

Boys Make Statement In 400 Free Relay

BARKER -- Feeding off the performances from Tuesday, the Barker swimmers continued with solid performances and pushed the Roy-Hart teams as they set 39 personal best times. That’s a total of 199 for the season! The final scores had both Channel Cat teams winning with a girls’ score of 90-80 and a boys’ score of 94-76. A highlight of the meet was the boys’ 400 Free Relay of Collin Webb, Alex Goodlander, Andrew Jenks, and Casey Webb winning with the second fastest time in BCS swimming history for that event. Overall, the boys were victorious in 6 of 11 events.
 
The other Raiders winners were the 200 Free Relay - Collin Webb, Patrick Desmarais, Jenks, and Casey Webb; 50 and 100 Free - Collin Webb; 200 Free - Casey Webb; 100 Back - Goodlander.
 
The ladies showed a balanced effort in taking first in 4 events. Winners were: 200 Free Relay - Renee Levy, Allison Austin, Natalie Menz, and Emma Jenks; 200 Free - Levy; 100 Free - Jenks; 100 Breaststroke - Sara Gendrue.
 
 
Swimmers Split with Panthers

BARKER -- In the first action of the new year, the Barker swimmers picked up where they left off by establishing 35 personal best times in a meet with the Newfane Panthers. The boys were victorious, 89-71, winning 7 of the 11 events. The girls fell to the perennial N-O League champions, 105-62.
 
Winners for the Barker boys were: 200 Medley Relay - Alex Goodlander, Ian Goodlander, Collin Stevener, Patrick Desmarais; 200 & 100 Free - Collin Webb; 50 Free & 100 Fly - Casey Webb; 200 Free Relay - Collin Webb, Stevener, Andrew Jenks, Casey Webb; 400 Free Relay - Collin Webb, Jenks, Alex Goodlander, Casey Webb. On the ladies side the following were part of the winning 200 Free Relay: Natalie Menz, Sara Gendrue, Renee Levy, Emma Jenks.
 
Both teams are 4-2 for the season and will compete host Roy-Hart on Thursday.

BARKER -- It was a standing room only crowd watching the Raider swim teams set 34 personal best times as they claimed convincing victories over the Akron Tiger Sharks on Tuesday. The girls won 95-73 while the boys margin was 91-59. A Raider touched first in 18 of the 22 races, with the boys winning all of their events. Taking first for the ladies were: 200 Free Relay - Natalie Menz, Allie Austin, Renee Levy, Emma Jenks; 400 Free Relay - Menz, Levy, Anie Carestia, Abby Bachman; 200 I.M. - Carestia; 100 Breaststroke - Sara Gendrue; 50 Free - Menz; 100 Fly - Austin; 100 Free - Jenks.

BARKER -- Barker swimmers finished first in 18 of 22 events in convincing victories over Notre Dame on Thursday night. The girls won 98-37 and the boys picked up an 84-52 victory. The icing on the cake was the 30 personal best times performed, which makes for a total of 91 in 4 meets.
 
The Lady Raiders won all 3 relays. Members of the winning relays were: 200 Medley - Grayce Weller, Sara Gendrue, Allison Austin, Natalie Menz; 200 Free - Menz, Gendrue, Austin, Renee Levy; 400 Free - Levy, Anie Carestia, Abby Bachman, Emma Jenks. Victors in the individual events were: Emma Jenks who was a double winner in the 50 and 100 Free, Austin - 200 I.M., Carestia - 100 Butterfly, Levy - 500 Free, Weller - 100 Back, Gendrue - 100 Breaststroke.
 
The boys also won all 3 relay events. Alex Goodlander, Collin Webb, Casey Webb, and Andrew Jenks took the 200 Medley; Casey and Collin Webb with Alex and Ian Goodlander won the 200 Free; Drew Jenks, Patrick Desmarais, Goodlander and Goodlander claimed the 400 Free. Casey Webb and Andrew Jenks were double winners in their individual events. Jenks won the 50 Free and 100 Butterfly, while Webb took the 100 Free and 100 Back. Collin Webb won the 100 Breaststroke.

BARKER -- The Raider Swim teams hosted Pembroke on Tuesday and both teams were victorious. The ladies improved to 2-1 by defeating the Dragons 102-66. Barker took 8 of 11 events. Starting the meet with a win was the 200 Medley Relay team: Grayce Weller, Sara Gendrue, Allison Austin, and Emma Jenks. Barker also won the 200 Free Relay: Renee Levy, Gendrue, Austin, and Jenks. Winners in individual events were: Levy in the 200 and 500 Free, Gendrue in the 200 I.M. and 100 Breaststroke, Jenks in the 50 Free, Natalie Menz in the 100 Free, and Weller in the 100 Back.
 
The boys won their meet by a score of 93-66, taking 9 of 11 events. The Raiders won the 200 Medley Relay: Alex Goodlander, Collin Webb, Andrew Jenks, and Patrick Desmarais, and the 200 Free Relay: Collin Webb, Desmarais, Goodlander, and Casey Webb. Casey Webb and Jenks led the boys with 2 individual event victories each. Casey won the 200 and the 100 Free while Andrew won the 200 I.M. and the 500 Free. Other individual winners were: Desmarais in the 50 Free, Goodlander in the 100 Back, and Collin Webb in the 100 Breaststroke.

200 Medley Relays Grab First For Swim Teams

BARKER -- The Raider Swim teams battled hard with the Attica Blue Devils on Thursday night. Many Barker swimmers set personal bests in just the second meet of the season. The girls’ team lost 92-77 while the boys were edged out, 86-83.
 
 
Leading the girls by placing first in two individual events was Anie Carestia as she won the 200 I.M. and the 500 Free. Also winning were: 200 Medley Relay - Grayce Weller, Sara Gendrue, Allison Austin, Emma Jenks. Gendrue also was victorious in the 100 Breaststroke.
 
 
The boys won 6 of 11 events, but couldn’t get the victory on the scoreboard. Casey Webb led all swimmers with some exceptional performances by taking the 50 Free, the 100 Fly and was a member the winning 200 Medley Relay. The other three members of that relay were: Alex Goodlander, Collin Webb, and Patrick Desmarais. Collin Webb, Desmarais, Goodlander, and Ian Goodlander took the 200 Free Relay. Other individual winners were Collin Webb - 100 Free and Alex Goodlander - 100 Backstroke.
 
 
The Raiders will host the Pembroke Dragons on Tuesday, December 9 at 4:30.
 
 
 
Swim Season Promises Excitement
December 2, 2014 
OAKFIELD -- It’s going to be exciting watching the Barker swimmers this year. Many of the returning swimmers have already matched or surpassed their best times from last February. Tuesday night the Raiders traveled to Oakfield to take on the Oakfied-Alabama Hornets. The girls came home with a 63-29 victory while the boys lost by a slim margin, 49-43.
 
The ladies finished 1st and 2nd in 4 events on their way to winning a total of 5 races. Top finishers were the 200 Medley Relay - Grayce Weller, Sara Gendrue, Allison Austin, Emma Jenks; 200 Free - Renee Levy; 200 I.M. - Anie Carestia; 100 Free - Jenks; 200 Free Relay - Natalie Menz, Carestia, Levy, Jenks; 100 Back - Weller.
 
 
The boys placed first in 7 events, but lacked the depth to hold onto the lead at the end of the meet. Receiving top honors were the 200 Medley Relay - Alex Goodlander, Collin Webb, Casey Webb, Patrick Desmarias; 200 and 500 Free - Andrew Jenks; 50 Free and 100 Fly - Casey Webb; 100 Free - Collin Webb; 200 Free Relay - Collin Webb, Desmarais, Goodlander, Casey Webb.
 
 
It was an excellent start to the season for both teams. The Raiders are home on Thursday night at 4:30 as they host the Attica Blue Devils.
 
 
 
Boys Reach Podium Multiple Times 
February 8, 2014
CHEEKTOWAGA -- The Barker Boys Swim team competed in the Section VI Class C Championships on Saturday where they were able to reach the podium many times. The 200 Medley Relay of Alex Goodlander, Tim Flint, John Stansbury and Collin Webb started the meet off with a fourth place finish. The 400 Free Relay of Alonzo St. Louis, Stansbury, Collin Webb and Casey Webb also captured fourth place. Stansbury, Flint, Collin Webb and Casey Webb swam to a first place and the Class Championship in the 200 Free Relay. 
 
Individually the team had the following results: Casey Webb 4th in the 50 Free and 5th in the 100 Free; Collin Webb 9th in the 100 Free. Stansbury and St. Louis were 2nd and 4th respectively in the 100 Fly; Goodlander was 8th in the 100 Backstroke; Nolan Bouchane 24th in the 100 Breaststroke; Flint was 9th in the 200 Free and 13th in the 100 Breaststroke.
 
The team will swim Thursday at Sectionals at Clarence High School.
 
 
Girls Take 6th At GR/N-O Crossover Meet

ROCHESTER -- The Barker Girls Swim team had their final competition Friday night at the 11th annual GR/N-O Crossover meet at Gates-Chili. The 200 Medley Relay placed 6th, 200 Free Relay placed 5th, and the 400 Free Relay placed 9th. The girls swam well individually, as Renee Levy finished 21st in the 200 Free. Brooke Targus finished 5th, Anie Carestia 10th, and Sara Gendrue 12th in the 200 IM. Emma Jenks finished 10th and Natalie Menz 11th in the 50 Free. Allie Austin finished 16th, Maddie Dryburgh 20th, and Perrine Gigandet 21st in the 100 Fly. Jenks finished 11th and Menz was 20th in the 100 Free. Carestia was 14th and Levy 20th in the 500 Free. Targus finished 6th and Grayce Weller 17th in the 100 Backstroke. Gendrue finished 6th, Hayley Richbart 9th and Abby Bachman 18th in the 100 Breaststroke.
 
The team finished with 8 personal best times and were 6th out of 14 teams overall.
 
 
200 Free Relay Team Brings Home First At League Championships
February 4, 2014 
NEWFANE -- The Barker Boys Swim team traveled to Newfane on Monday night to compete in the Niagara-Orleans League Swimming Championships where they brought home 10 best times and were honored with the League Sportsmanship Award. The Medley Relays finished 2nd and 3rd, the 400 Freestyle Relays both finished 2nd, while one of the 200 Freestyle Relays finished 2nd. The other 200 Free Relay team of John Stansbury, Tim Flint, Collin Webb, and Casey Webb finished 1st, to take home League Championship Patches.
 
Individual events were led by Tim Flint finishing 3rd and Ian Goodlander 10th in the 200 Free; Andrew Jenks finished 4th in the 200 IM; Casey Webb 2nd and Alex Goodlander 6th in the 50 Free; John Stansbury 2nd and Alonzo St. Louis 3rd in the 100 Butterfly; Casey Webb 2nd and Collin Webb 3rd in the 100 Free; Andrew Jenks 7th and Collin Stevener 11th in the 500 Free; Alex Goodlander 3rd and Collin Stevener 10th in the 100 Back; Tim Flint 3rd and Nolan Bouchane 6th in the 100 Breaststroke.
 
The boys had a strong team finish earning 2nd place in the league with a record of 8-2. They will compete in the Class C Championships on Saturday at Maryvale.
 
 
Niagara-Orleans League Swim Meet Features 13 Personal Best Times

AKRON -- The Barker Girls Swim team traveled to Akron on Friday and competed in the Niagara Orleans League Meet. The Raiders swam 13 personal best times. The Medley Relay teams captured 4th and 7th place, the 200 Free Relay teams finished 3rd and 9th, while the 400 Free Relay teams finished 4th and 8th.
 
In the 200 Free, Annie Caristia placed 5th and Renee Levy 8th. In the 200 IM, Brooke Targus placed 3rd and Sara Gendrue 9th, while Emma Jenks, Natalie Menz and Erin Greenwald placed 6th, 7th and 13th respectively in the 50 Free. The 100 Fly saw Allie Austin finish 7th, followed by Madison Drybugh in 8th and Perrine Gigandet in 10th. In the 100 Free, Emma Jenks finished 7th, Erin Greenwald was 10th and Natalie Menz took 11th. Renee Levy and Anie Caristia finished 7th and 9th respectively in the 500 Free. Brooke Targus, Dillynn Taylor, and Grayce Weller finished 6th, 7th, and 9th respectively in the 100 Backstroke while Haley Richbart finished 4th, Sara Gendrue 5th and Abby Bachman 9th in the 100 Breaststroke.
 
The team finished third in the league. It was a great meet for the team and they look forward to a repeat performance at the Girls GR/N-O meet on Friday.
 
 
Taylor Grabs First In Backstroke

BARKER -- The Barker Raiders Swim teams split against Newfane as they closed their league competition on Wednesday night. Dillynn Taylor had a first place finish in the 100 Backstroke. Paige Sandolfini, Chloe Goodlander, Leah Perkins, Ann Buffington, Alaina Israel, Maya Gooding, Taylor Morris, Piper Moffitt, Hannah Haag, and Haley Stansbury finished a great season for the Lady Raiders. The girls All-League competitors will swim on Friday, January 31 in Akron at 6:00 pm.
The Barker boys swam strong with first place finishes in all three relays. Individual top finishers were Tim Flint - 200 Free, Casey Webb - 50 and 100 Free, John Stansbury - 100 Fly, Andrew Jenks - 500 Free, and Alex Goodlander - 100 Backstroke.
 
The boys All-League competition will be Tuesday, February 4 at Newfane with a 6:00 pm start time.

AKRON -- The Barker Raiders visited The Akron Tigers last night and split the dual meet. The boys team picked up a victory while the girls team suffered a loss. The girls swam fast and had many season best times led by Renee Levy, Grayce Weller, Allison Austin, Perrine Gigandet, and Natalie Menz.
 
The guy’s team showed their depth and versatility with Nolan Bouchane and Tim Flint finishing one and three in the 200 IM. Double winners for the boys were Andrew Jenks in the 200 and 500 Free; Casey Webb in the 50 Free and 100 Backstroke; and Tim Flint in the 100 Breast Stroke and 200 IM.
 
 
Senior Recognition Night & Double Win For Swim Team

BARKER -- The Barker Swim team hosted the Albion Purple Eagles on Thursday for Senior Recognition Night. Both teams rode a tidal wave of best time finishes to a 115-49 win for the girls and a 114-36 win for the boys. Seniors Brooke Targus, Haley Richbart, Leah Perkins, Dillynn Taylor, Perrine Gagandat for the girls, and Nolan Bouchane, John Stanbury, Tim Flint and Alonzo St. Louis Jr. for the guys, were surrounded by family and friends as they helped Barker win 10 out of 11 first place finishes and 8 out 11 second place finishes for the two teams. Not only the veterans, but the stable of young swimmer such as Paige Sandolfini, Grayce Weller, Maya Gooding, Abby Bachman, Erin Greenwald, Andrew Jenks, Collin Stevener, Ian Goodlander and Dominic Clementi contributed to the success of the teams.
 
The girls’ team is now 8-2-1 and the boys’ team is 9-2 on the season. The next meet is Tuesday at Akron.
 
 
Richbart & Targus Take First Against Channel Cats

MIDDLEPORT -- The Barker swim teams traveled to Roy-Hart on Tuesday night to swim against the Channel Cats. Hayley Richbart and Brooke Targus were first place finishers. While Paige Sandolfini, Abby Bachman, Piper Moffitt, Chloe Goodlander, Natalie Menz, Sara Gendrue and Maddie Dryburg all stepped-up to make great contributions to their team.
 
The boys had strong finishes by Andrew Jenks, Dominic Clementi, Casey Webb, John Stansbury, Alex Goodlander, and Collin Stevener.
 
The next meet will be on Thursday and it is Senior Recognition Night at home against the Albion Eagles.

MEDINA -- The Raiders Swim teams traveled to Medina on Thursday night and rang in the New Year with a win and a tie against the Seahorses. Leading the girls in the tie were first place finishers Brooke Targus, Haley Richbart, and Anie Carestia. Adding to the team score with personal best times were Dillynn Taylor, Maya Gooding, Sara Gendrue, and Natalie Menz. 
 
The boys win pushed their record to 8-1 by riding a wave of first place finishers: Tim Flint, Casey Webb, Collin Webb, and John Stansbury. Also, helping to secure the victory were Alex Goodlander, Ian Goodlander, Andrew Jenks, Collin Stevener, and Donavan Haag.

BARKER -- The Barker Swim teams played host to the Akron Tigers on Thursday and came away with a double win. The girl’s double winners were Anie Carestia in the 200 and 500 Free, and Emma Jenks in the 50 and 100 Free. Important contributions were also made by Perrine Gigandet, Allison Austin, Grayce Weller, Elise Zapp and Dillynn Taylor. 
 
The boy’s team showed their dominance by taking first place in all 11 events. Newcomers Andrew Jenks, Collin Stevener, Dominic Clementi and Ian Goodlander continue to improve and provide valuable points to the winning cause.
 
Both teams will enter the New Year with identical 7-1 records.

ALBION -- The Barker swim teams traveled to Albion last night and both teams came home with their sixth win of the season. The girls were led by double first place finishers Brooke Targus and Emma Jenks and were followed by Renee Levy, Anie Caristia, Haley Richbart, and Perine Gigandet.
 
The boys were led by double winner Tim Flint and individual winners Collin Webb, Alonzo St. Louis, Alex Goodlander, John Stansbury, and Casey Webb.
 
The next meet is Thursday when Barker hosts the Akron Tigers.

BARKER -- The Raiders Swim team hosted the Roy-Hart Channel Cats on Thursday night. Haley Richbart posted a win in the 100 Breaststroke and the 200 Free Relay of John Stansbury, Tim Flint, Collin Webb and Casey Webb also swam to a first place finish.
 
Both teams swam fast and now have a record of 5-1. The next meet is Tuesday at Albion.

Barker -- The Barker Swim teams continued their undefeated seasons against the Medina Seahorses last night to move to 5-0. Brooke Targus was a double winner in the 200 IM and 100 Back. Hayley Richbart, Renee Levy, and Emma Jenks all had first place finishes. Tim Flint, John Stansbury, and Casey Webb were winners for the boys.
 
The relay events for both girls and boys all were victorious for the Raiders.
 
The next meet will be home at 4:00 on Thursday, against Roy-Hart.
 
 
Webb Is Lone Individual Boys Event Winner

BARKER -- The boys and girls Swim teams continued their winning ways as they both posted wins over visiting HAC on Saturday morning. The girls posted three individual winners, led by Anie Caristia - 100 Fly, Brooke Targus - 100 IM, and Haley Richbart - 100 Breaststroke. Erin Greenwald, Renee Levy, Allison Austin, and Alaina Israel also provide valuable points in the win. 
 
The boys showed their team depth and versatility as they won 2 of 3 relays. Casey Webb was the lone individual winner with a victory in the 100 Free. Alonzo St. Louis, Tim Flint, Nolan Bouchane, Andrew Jenks and Alex Goodlander and Ian Goodlander proved too much for HAC to handle.
 
Both teams are 4-0 on the season. The next meet is Tuesday at home against Medina.

BATAVIA -- The Barker swim teams had solid dual wins over the Notre Dame Irishmen on Thursday night as they remaining undefeated with 3-0 records. Dual winners for the girls were Brooke Targus in the 50 Free and 100 Back and Renee Levy in the 200 and 500 Free. Excellent contributions were made by Grayce Weller, Paige Sandolfini, Allison Austin, Elise Zapp and Anie Carestia. 
 
Individual winners for the boys were John Stansbury in the 100 Fly, Casey Webb in the 50 Free, and Tim Flint in the 100 Breast. Collin Webb, Carter Pisarski, Alex Goodlander, and Andrew Jenks contributed to the boys’ success.

Swimmers Race To 2-0 Start

BARKER -- A large home crowd witnessed the Barker Raiders swim teams start their home schedule with victories as both teams swam past The Oakfield–Alabama Sharks Tuesday evening. The Lady Raiders swept all three relays behind the stellar swimming of Brooke Targus, Emma Jenks, Renee Levy, Haley Richbart, Anie Caristia, Erin Greenwald and Dillynn Taylor. Individual winners were Sara Gendrue - 100 Breaststroke, Targus - 100 Backstroke, and Jenks - 50 Freestyle.
 
The boys also swept all three relays and added five first place finishes. Double winners were Casey Webb - 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle, Tim Flint - 200 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke. John Stansbury took first in the 100 Butterfly.
 
The next meet is Thursday verses Notre Dame at Genesee County Community College.
 
 
Swim Teams Open On Road At Pembroke

PEMBROKE -- The Raiders Swim Teams started the season with dual wins for both the girls and boys on Monday night against the Pembroke Dragons. Leading the way for the Raiders were Emma Jenks and Casey Webb as double winners in the 50 and 100 Freestyle events. Sara Gendrue and Brooke Targus finished on top in the 100 Breast and 200 IM, respectively.
 
All three girls relays were also first place finishers which included Dillynn Taylor, Gendrue, Targus, Jenks, Renee Levy, Erin Greenwald, and Anie Carestia.
 
The boys’ team secured all but one first place finish. Stand outs were John Stansbury, Alex Goodlander, Tim Flint, Alonzo St. Louis, Collin Webb, Nolan Bouchane, and Andrew Jenks. 
 
 
Swimmers Play Waiting Game On Extension Of Post Season

CHEEKTOWAGA -- The Boys Varsity Swim team competed in the Class C Championship meet on Saturday and finished a respectable 7th out of 16 teams. The 200 Medley Relay of Brian Alt, Tyler Swann, John Stansbury, and Casey Webb swam a season best time and finished in fourth place which was good enough to earn a sectional patch. Alt swam a personal best time in the 100 Backstroke finishing third while setting a new school record, also good for a sectional patch.

Achieving personal best times at the event were Zach Shaft in the 100 and 200 Free; Nick Israel 100 Back and 50 Free; Tyler Swann 50 Free; Nolan Bouchane 100 Breaststroke; Casey Webb 50 and 100 Free; Zach Smolinsky 100 Free.

The team will now wait until Tuesday to find out if they will be competing at sectionals and state qualifiers this Friday at Clarence.
 
 
Alt Wins Two Events At N-O League Championships

BARKER -- The Varsity Swim team began its post season on Tuesday night with a strong showing at the Niagara-Orleans League Championship Meet. Congratulations to Captain Brian Alt who led the Raiders with a league title in two events. Alt brought home the the 100 Backstroke and 200 Individual Medley. Other top finishers were Zach Shaft, 5th in the 200 Free; Nick Israel, 4th in the 100 Backstroke; John Stansbury, 3rd in the 100 Butterfly; Casey Webb, 3rd in the 50 Free; Tyler Swann, 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke; Nolan Bouchane, 6th in the 100 Breaststroke.

The team posted 6 personal best times at the meet and also had strong performances by seventh graders Collin Webb and Andrew Jenks. The next meet is the Class C Championship on Saturday at Maryvale High School.
 
 
Girls Swimmers Take Fifth At Crossover Meet With Genesee Region
February 1, 2013
AKRON -- The Lady Raiders Varsity Swim team competed in their last meet of the season Friday night at the Genesee Region - Niagara-Orleans League Crossover Meet at Akron High School. Barker swam exceptionally well recording 14 personal best times while cruising to a 5th place finish out of 14 teams.  Top finishers were: Emma Jenks, 5th place in the 50 Free; Madison Greenwald, 8th place in the 50 Free; Meghan Menz, 10th place in the 100 Fly; Brooke Targus, 8th place in the 100 Back and 200 IM; Haley Richbart, 7th place in the 100 Breaststroke; Ruth Gendrue, 6th place in the 200 IM and 5th place in the 500 Free.

Also, seventh grader Sara Gendrue placed 9th in the 100 Breaststroke and eighth grader Anie Carestia placed 19th in the breaststroke. The team now says good-bye and best of luck in the future to seniors Amanda Austin, Ruth Gendrue, and Meghan Menz. The work ethic, positive attitude and contributions of these three swimmers to the Barker Swim program will be missed.
 
 
Gendrue And Richbart Grab Ribbons At All League

AKRON -- The Niagara-Orleans League Girls Championship Meet was held in Akron on Tuesday night where the Lady Raiders swam 11 of their best times. Ribbon winners were Ruth Gendrue who was 3rd in the 200 IM and 5th in the 500 Free, Hayley Richbart who earned 2nd place with a personal best time in the 100 Breaststroke, Emma Jenks was 5th in the 50 Free and 6th in the 100 Free, and Madison Greenwald who took 4th in the 50 Free with a personal best time.

Both 200 Medley Relay teams had best times. Elise Zapp, Sara Gendrue, Allie Austin and Madison Greenwald placed 3rd in their heat while Brooke Targus, Hayley Richbart, Meghan Menz, and Emma Jenks placed 5th. The last event of the evening, the 400 Relay, swam by Erin Greenwald, Allie Austin, Emma Fox, and Anie Carestia earned a best time and placed 3rd in their heat.

The last meet of the season will be this Friday at Akron for the N-O/GR Crossover meet. Start time is 6:00 pm.
 
 
10 Senior Swimmers Recognized

BARKER -- The Varsity Swim team had a fantastic week ending with Senior Night and a split against Newfane on Thursday. The boys team swam to victory over the Panthers while the girls team swam well, but were unable to catch the league leaders. Barker produced multiple best times on both sides. Seniors recognized for Barker were Amanda Austin, Ruth Gendrue, Rheanne Levy, Meghan Menz, Fede Romor, Brian Alt, Alfredo Bautista, Nick Israel, Zach Shaft and Zach Smolinsky as they swam their last home meet. Their work ethic, commitment to team and willingness to assist the younger swimmers in improving their stroke is already reaping huge dividends on the team.

Next up is All League and sectionals.
 
 
Swimmers Edge Akron After Relay Wins

BARKER -- The Varsity swim teams recorded a double win as both the girls and boys touched out the visiting Akron Tigers in a Niagara-Orleans League contest on Thursday night. The sirls team avenged an earlier loss by turning the tide on the Lady Tigers. Even though Barker won 5 first place events, the two teams were tied leading into the final relay. Barker's team of Ruth Gendrue, Meghan Menz, Renee Levy, and Emma Jenks took first place to secure the win as the crowd roared.

The boys continued their winning ways by claiming 7 first place finishes. Brian Alt and Casey Webb were both double winners with personal best times. As with the girls, the meet came down to the last relay and the Barker team of John Stansbury, Zach Smolinsky, Zach Shaft and Brian Alt secured the win.

The depth of both teams continues to contribute to the victories. Specifically, Nick Israel, Alonzo St. Louis, Alex Goodlander, Anie Carestia, Madison Greenwald and Erin Greenwald.

The next meet is Thursday against Newfane. The team will recognize the seniors prior to the contest.
 
 
Jenks Grabs Two Wins At Albion

ALBION -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Albion on Tuesday to take on the Purple Eagles for their last road meet of the season. The girls  won 62-34 and the guys won 73-21. Both teams took 9 of 11 first place finishes. Double winners for the girls were Emma Jenks in the 50 and  100 Free and Brooke Targus in the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke. Brian Alt was a winner in both the 200 IM and the 100 Backstroke.

The next meet is against Akron on Thursday at 4:30.
 
 
Alt Takes 100 Back at Roy-Hart

MIDDLEPORT -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Roy-Hart on Thursday night to take on the Rams. The girls came away with three first place finishes. Individual winners for Barker were Emma Jenks in the 100 Free and Haley Richbart in the 100 Breaststroke.

The boys were out to avenge their only loss of season on Thursday. The meet started off great as Barker won the Medley Relay. The Raiders also won the 200 Free Relay and Brain Alt won the 100 Backstroke. Barker was able to keep it close as their depth and versatility showed. The boys are currently in second place in the N-O League with both losses coming at the hands of Roy-Hart. The girls are in fourth.

The next swim meet is Tuesday against Albion.
 
 
Girls Swimmers Take All Events
January 8, 2013
BARKER -- The Varsity Swim teams battled the Medina Mustangs and the flu bug en route to a double win on Tuesday night. Barker’s depth and versatility prevailed. The girls won 91-79 as they swam away with every first place event. There were multiple personal best times including Meghan Menz, Emma Jenks, Melissa Pestinger, and Sara Gendrue. Inspiring performances were provided by Dillynn Taylor and Erin Greenwald as they battled thru injury and illness.

The boys team swept 8 of 11 first place events recording their first season sweep of the Mustang team in years. The boys were led by Brian Alt, Zack Shaft, Casey Webb, Zach Smolinsky and John Stansbury. Outstanding performances by Alonzo St. Louis, Nick Israel, Donavan Haag, Nolan Bouchane and Alexander Goodlander sealed the win.

The boys are now 8–2 and the girls 6–4. The next meet is Thursday at 4:30 at Roy-Hart.

NEWFANE -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Newfane on Thursday night and came away with a split. The guys mixed up the line-up and swam to a 104–60 victory by taking 9 of 11 first places. Zach Shaft won the 200 IM, Casey Webb the 50 Free, Nolan Bouchane the 100 Breast, John Stansbury the 100 Fly, and Brian Alt was a double winner in the 200 Free and 100 Back. Also, grabbing points for the guys were Collin Webb, Alex Goodlander, Dustin Walters, and Patrick Desmarias.

The girls team swam fast, but were no match for the league leaders. Some of the young swimmers that stood out were Melissa Pestinger, Allison Austin, Brooke Targus, Maya Gooding, Madison Greenwald, and Renee Levy.

The next meet is Tuesday at home against Medina.
 
 
Levy And Richbart Both Take First At Akron

AKRON -- The Varsity Swim teams split with Akron last night. The boys touched out Akron with an 88-82 win as Brian Alt swam the final leg of the 400 Relay. Alt followed Zack Smolinsky, John Stansbury, and Zach Shaft. Casey Webb swam his best time to win the 50 Free in 24.69 seconds.

The girls fought hard, but the night ended with a 91-79 loss. Renee Levy and Hayley Richbart each had a first place finish along with the 200 Free Relay team of included Levy, Meghan Menz, Ruth Gendrue, and Emma Jenks. Madison Greenwald, Anie Carestia, Emma Fox, Allie Austin, and Madison Dryburgh were also some of the key swimmers.

BARKER -- The Boys and Girls Varsity Swim teams had solid wins over the Albion Purple Eagles on Monday night. The girls won 102-62 with Ruth Gendrue, Emma Jenks, Meghan Menz, Brooke Targus, and Hayley Richbart each having a first place finish. The girls also took all three relays which added Renee Levy and Madison Greenwald to the top finishers. Grayce Weller, Maya Gooding, Natalie Menz, Sara Gendrue, Maddison Dryburgh and Anie Carestia also had solid performances that contributed to the team win.

The boys had an impressive 101-58 win over Albion with first place finishes by Zach Shaft, Brian Alt, Casey Web, John Stansbury, Tyler Swann and Zack Smolinsky. Andrew Jenks, Alex Goodlander, Patrick Desmarais and Alfredo Bautista also swam great times to contribute to the win.

Swim Team Faces Roy-Hart In Front Of Packed House

BARKER -- The bleachers were packed with fans to watch the Barker Raiders and the Roy-Hart Rams compete in the pool on Thursday night. The Lady Raiders team produced many personal best times, but were unable to overtake the Rams. Emma Jenks won the 100 Free with a personal best time.  Also swimming fast for Barker was Erin Greenwald, Allison Austin, Emma Fox, Anie Carestia, Brooke Targus and Dillynn Taylor.

The boys team swam well as Brian Alt was an individual winner in the 100 Backstroke. The 200 Free Relay of Zach Shaft, Zach Smolinsky, John Stansbury, and Casey Webb took first place. Donnie Haag, Andrew Jenks, John Stansbury, and Dustin Walters also swam personal best times.

Both teams are both 1-1 in league competition. The next meet is Monday at 4:30 versus Albion.  
 
 
Boys Grab Final Relay To Win At Medina

MEDINA -- The Boys and Girls Varsity Swim teams began their league competition with a meet against Medina on Tuesday night. Both teams won hard fought battles over the Sea Horses. The girls swam to a 93-77 victory with eight first place finishes. Ruth Gendrue had two individual wins while Emma Jenks, Renee Levy and Dillynn Taylor each added one. All three relays also placed first.

The boys gave their all and took control to win the meet by grabbing the last relay for an 86-84 win. Zach Shaft, John Stansbury, Tim Flint, and Tyler Swann each earned a first place finish as Brian Alt had two individual firsts for the team.

Every swimmer contributed to these wins. The team is hoping for a big crowd on Thursday as they host the Roy-Hart Channel Cats. The meet starts at 4:30 pm.
 
 
Double Win For Swim Teams

BARKER -- The Barker swim teams played host to Wheatland Chili on Thursday night in the last of their non-league contests. Both Barker teams won by large margins as the teams showcased their veteran leadership and overall team depth and strength. Brian Alt, John Stansbury, Ruth Gendrue and Renee Levy were all double winners. First place finishers were Haley Richbart, Dillion Taylor, Tyler Swann and Zach Smolinsky.

Both teams are showing lots of improvement with Madison Greenwald, Patrick Desmarias, Elise Zapp, Sara Gendrue, Andrew Jenks, Grayce Weller, Natilie Menz, and Collin Webb swimming fast. Congratulations go Alex Goodlander and Allison Austin for swimming their first 100 Fly of the season with many more to come.

The girls and boys teams are now 3-1 on the season. League competition begins at Medina on Tuesday at 4:30.
 
 
Trip To Alexander Successful For Girls Swim Team

ALEXANDER -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Alexander on Tuesday night to take on the Alexander Trojans. The Lady Raiders showed their strength and depth by swimming to first place in nine of the eleven events and winning the meet 62-33. First place finishers for the girls were Dillynn Taylor - 100 Back, Brooke Targus -200 IM, Meghan Menz - 100 Fly, Hayley Richbart - 100 Breast Stroke, and Ruth Gendrue 200 and 500 Free. The Lady Raiders also swept the relays and had a strong showing from Madison Greenwald, Madison Dryburgh, Allison Austin, Anie Carestia and Leah Perkins.

The boys team swam hard, but were just touched out by Alexander 51-50. Brian Alt was a double winner for the guys in both the 200 IM and 100 Back. Tyler Swan picked up a first in the 100 Breast Stroke. The team had strong performances by Nick Israel, Donnie Haag, Alex Goodlander, Tim Flint and Alonzo St. Louis.

Both teams stand at 2 wins 1 loss on the season. The next meet is at home on Thursday at 4:30 pm.

BARKER -- The Varsity Swim teams hosted the Attic Blue Devils on Thursday night and the boys' team continued their winning ways with a 112-50 victory. The senior captains led the way as Brain Alt and Zach Shaft were both double winners. Alt took the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke while Shaft was victorious in both the 200 and 100 Free. Also grabbing first place were Casey Webb in the 50 Free and John Stansbury in the 100 Fly.

The Lady Raiders lost a close one captain Ruth Gendrue leading the way. Gendrue posted wins in both the 200 IM and 500 Free. Brooke Targus claimed first in the 100 Backstroke.
 
Between the two teams there were over 25 personal best times posted. The fast times for both teams are just the beginning. The next meet is at Alexander on Tuesday.
 
 
Swim Teams Off And Racing

BERGEN -- The Varsity Swim teams traveled to Byron-Bergen last night and came away with two wins to start the season on a high note for both teams. The girls picked up a 96-71 victory while the boys finished with a very impressive 102-43 advantage. Both teams benefited from strong performances by the veteran swimmers and the quality contributions by the newcomers. First place finishers for the ladies were: 200 Free - Renee Levy, 200 IM and 500 Free - Ruth Gendrue, 100 Fly - Meghan Menz, 100 Free - Emma Jenks, 200 Free Relay - Brooke Targus, Jenks, Menz and Gendrue.

First place finishers for the boys: 200 Medley Relay - Brian Alt, Tyler Swan, John Stansbury and Zach Smolinsky, 200 Free - Zach Shaft, 50 Free - Casey Webb, 500 Free and 100 Back - Alt, 100 Free - Smolinsky. Barker also won both the 200 and 400 Free Relays.

The next meet is Thursday in Barker at 4:30 against Attica.
 
 
 
Swimmers Take Five Top Fives At All League

AKRON -- The Boys Varsity Swim competed in the All League Meet at Akron on Tuesday night and came away with five top five finishes. Phil Schumacher rallied the team and pushed the guys to three personal best times. Top five finishers were Brian Alt - fourth in the 100 Fly and third in the 100 Backstroke; Schumacher - third in the 100 Breaststroke, and the team of Alt, Schumacher, John Stansbury, and Zach Shaft finished third in the 200 Medley Relay and fourth in the 200 Free Relay.

Barker showed they have a bright future in the pool as freshman Tyler Swann posted his best time in the Breaststroke and sophomore Tim Flint posted his personal best time in the 500 Free as well. The boys will now be competing at the Class C Championships this Saturday at Maryvale High School. 
 
 
 
Taylor And Gendrue Place Fourth At All League Meet

AKRON -- The Girl’s Varsity Swim competed in the Niagara Orleans All League meet on Tuesday night and swam away with nine personal best times. Top five finishers for the Lady Raiders were: Ruth Gendrue - fourth in the 200 IM and fourth in the 500 Free and Dillynn Taylor - fourth in the 100 Backstroke. Fifth place finishers were: Brooke Targus - 200 IM, Stephanie Pyra - 100 Fly and Rachel Anderson - 100 Backstroke.
 
The team earned third place in the Niagara Orleans League this year. With a solid foundation of young swimmers and veteran team members, the future looks bright for Barker Swimming.
 
 
 
Gendrue And Alt Are Double Winners

ALBION -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Albion on Thursday night to close out their regular season. The girls won for the fifth time in league competition by posting eight first place finishes. Captain Ruth Gendrue was a double winner in the 200 IM and 500 free. Other first place finishers were Stephanie Pyra - 100 Fly, Dillynn Taylor - 100 Back, and Haley Richbart - 100 Breaststroke.
 
The boys meet came down to the last relay as Albion edged out the fast charging Barker team. Captain Brian Alt was a double winner in the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke. Additional first place finishers were Zach Smolinski - 50 Free, and Phil Schumacher - 100 Breaststroke.
 
Both Barker teams took all but one relay. 17 personal best times were achieved.
 
The next meet is Tuesday at Akron for the Girls All League Meet.
 
 
 
Senior Night In The Pool

BARKER -- The Barker Raiders Swim teams had a fantastic meet ending in a split on Tuesday night with the Newfane Panthers on Senior Night. The boys swam to victory while the girls swam fast, but were edged out in a loss to the league leaders. Together the two Barker teams swam 20 personals best times. John Stansbury moved to 17th and Alonzo St. Louis 22nd on the Top 25 all time list in the 100 Butterfly. The teams recognized Rachel Anderson, Stephanie Pyra and Phil Schumacher as they swam their last home meet. Their work ethic, commitment to the team and willingness to assist the younger swimmers in improving their stroke has already reaped huge dividends for the teams.

The next meet is Thursday at Albion.
 
 
 
Swim Teams Split With Medina

BARKER --The Barker Swim teams played host to Medina on Thursday and took a split. The girls won going away by a score of 104-66 in large part by winning all eleven first place finishes. The boys team lost a close meet, but won the majority of the events. Overall, the teams produced 17 personal best times and Stephanie Pyra moved up to seventh place all time with her finish in the 100 Fly.

Both teams are showing lots of improvement with Madison Dryburgh and Melissa Pestinger shattering their personal best times in the 50 Free and 500 Free respectively. Tyler Swan, Donnie Haag, Alonzo St. Louis and Tim Flint swam best times as well.

The next meet is home on Tuesday for Senior Night.
 
 
 
Jenks And Haag Swim Personal Best 50 Time For Relays

BARKER -- The Raiders swim teams played host to rival Roy-Hart on Tuesday and recorded many best times. The boys Medley Relay of Brian Alt, Phil Schumacher, John Stansbury and Zach Smolinski swam their fastest time of the year. Freshman Donnie Haag and eighth grader Emma Jenks swam their personal best 50 Free as the anchors in their respective relay. Also recording personal bests were Brooke Targus - 200 IM, John Stansbury - 100 Fly, Robert Walter - 100 Breast Stroke and 50 Free, and Kolby Greenwald - 200 Free.

The team will host Akron on Friday at 3:30.
 
 
 
Boys And Girls Swim Teams Defeat Albion
January 5, 2012
BARKER -- The Barker Swim teams hosted the Albion Purple Eagles on Thursday and swam away with two victories. The girls team won by a score of 99–68. Ruth Gendrue was the lone double winner for the girls. Other winners included Rachel Anderson and Stephanie Pyra. Personal best times included Emma Jenks, Sabrina Harris, Phoebe Elter and Allison Austin.

The boys meet came down to the last relay and in dramatic fashion Barker won enough points to secure the victory by a score of 87-82. Nolan Bouchane's come from behind finish allowed Barker to capture first and second place in the 100 Breaststroke and set the stage for the last relay heroics. Best times by Kolby Greenwald, Robert Walters, Alonzo St. Louis and Tim Flint also helped to secure the win.
 
 
 
Swim Teams Combine For 16 Of 22 First Place Finishes

MEDINA -- The Varsity Swim teams traveled to Medina to take on the Mustangs Tuesday night. The Lady Raiders team really showed their depth as they took nine of 11 first place finishes. Leading the charge for Barker were Rheanne Levy with four firsts, Ruth Gendrue and Renee Levy with three and Rachel Anderson with two. Also contributing points to the win were Erin Greenwald, Emma Jenks and Christianna Carestia.

On the boys side the team took seven of 11 firsts. Double winners for the guys were Brain Alt, Phil Schumacher and Zach Shaft. Also contributing to the effort were John Stansbury, Alonzo St. Louis and Nick Isreal.

Both teams are continuing to improve and earning many personal best times.
 
 
 
Richbart Wins 100 Breast Stroke At Akron

AKRON -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Akron on Thursday night to take on the Tiger Sharks. After eleven grueling events the girls team ending up in an 85-85 tie. First place finishers for the girls were 100 Breast - Haley Richbart, 100 Fly - Stephanie Pyra, and 200 Free - Renee Levy. The girls also won the 200 Free Rely and 200 Medley Relay.

The boys had first places finishes by Brian Alt in the 200 IM and 100 Back, and Phil Schumacher in the 100 Breaststroke. The boys also won the 200 Medley Relay.
 
 
 
Both Swim Teams Take 200 Free Relay At Roy-Hart

MIDDLEPORT -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Roy-Hart on Tuesday and continued to improve as both teams began league play. The girl’s team had many personal best times led by Sabrina Harris, Meghan Menz, Phoebe Elter and Renee Levy. First place finishers in the 200 Free Relay were Brooke Targus, Rheanne Levy, Menz and Ruth Gendrue.

The boys also had season best times posted by Donnie Haag, Phil Schumacher and Tyler Swann. First place finishers in the 200 Free Relay were Brian Alt, Zach Shaft, Zach Smolinski and Schumacher.

Both teams travel to Akron on Thursday to take on the Tigers.

SCOTTSVILLE -- The Barker Swim teams traveled to Wheatland-Chili on Thursday night and came away with two wins. The girls team won by a score of 102-63 while the boys team brought home a 93-52 victory. Double winners for the girls were Ruth Gendrue - 200 IM and 500 Free, and Rheanne Levy in the 50 and 100 Free. Double winners for the guys were Phil Schumacher 100 Fly and 100 Breaststroke, and Brian Alt in the 200 IM and 100 Back.

Single winners were Stephanie Pyra - 100 Fly, Renee Levy – 200 Free, Haley Richbart - 100 Breaststroke, and Zach Shaft - 200 Free. Both teams share a record of 3-1.

ATTICA -- The Varsity Swim teams traveled to Attica on Friday and took on the strong Attica Blue Devil teams. The Raiders swam extremely well with many personal best times. The girls first place finishers were Renee Levy - 200 Free and Ruth Gendrue who was a double winner in the 200 IM and 100 Breast Stroke. Stephanie Pyra and Ruth Gendrue put their mark on the Top 25 list in the 100 Fly and 100 Breast Stroke, respectively.

The boys swam extremely well. First place finishers were: Brian Alt, Robert Walters, John Stansbury and Zack Smolinski - 400 Medley Relay, Zach Shaft - 200 Free, Alt - 200 IM, Smolinski - 50 Free, Stansbury - 100 Fly, Alt, Stansbury, Shaft, and Smolinski - 200 Free Relay and Alt - 100 Back. Many more best times were recorded as well.

Both teams benefited from strong performances by the veteran swimmers, as well as quality contributions by the newcomers. First place finishers for the ladies were: 200 Medley Relay - Brooke Targus, Haley Richbart, Stephanie Pyra and Ruth Gendrue, 200 IM and 100 breaststroke - Gendrue, 100 Fly - Pyra, 100 Free - Rheanne Levy, 200 Free Relay - Richbart, Meghan Menz, Rheanne Levy, and Gendrue, 400 Free Relay - Pyra, Renee Levy, Rheanne Levy, and Targus.
