WILSON -- On Wednesday night the Lady Raiders Varsity Track team had to overcome the absences of many of their top athletes to earn their first win, a 97-40 victory over host Wilson. Leading the way for Barker was track veteran Alex Gancasz. Gancasz won four individual events including the 100 Hurdles, 100 & 200 Meter Dashs, and the Pole Vault. Margie Zaepfel and Corina Giannone were both double winners with Zaepfel scoring first place finishes in the 1500 and 800, while Giannone won both the Shotput and Discus events. Also, pitching in with wins were Sarah Scott in the 400 Hurdles, Bree Sutch in the Long Jump, and Marissa Estep in the 400. Capturing wins in relays were Allie Tillman, Zaepfel, Scott and Heather Mason in the 3200 Meter Relay, and Mason, Hayley Richbart, Scott and Estep in the 1600 Meter Relay.
