BATAVIA -- Saturday night the Barker Raiders Varsity Track teams participated in the Bativia Invitational. The boys were paced by a stellar performance from Tyler Scheving, who set two meet records and one league record. Scheving won the 400 meter dash in a meet record 50.62 seconds and the 800 meter run in a meet and league record 1:55.54. Jed Platt turned in a strong performance finishing fifth in the 3000 steeplechase while setting a new school record. Platt also finished fourth in the 400 hurdles. Other top five finishers included Josh Haight and Jake Haight in the long jump and John Austin in the shot put.
The girls had several strong performances including a second place finish in the 400 by Eliza Dewart and a second place finish in the triple jump by Savanna Gancasz. The girls had several personal bests on the day.
Both teams are looking forward to their next meet in Newfane on Tuesday.
