BARKER -- The Varsity Baseball team improved their league record to 4-4 by squeaking out a close 3-2 win over visiting Akron on Saturday. Andrew Carmer led the way again on the mound pitching a complete game, striking out 10, walking no one and giving up no earned runs.

Down two runs, Carmer helped himself at the plate by hitting a double and scoring a run in the fourth. In the bottom of the sixth the Raiders scored the tying run after a Tyler Mason double, a Tony Sonberg sacrifice fly and a Ryan Lamb infield single. This led to a double steal play that plated Mason for the win. Ethan Dewart, Josh Jackson and Cody Blackley also added big plays.
