    Varsity Boys Track Team Finishes With Undefeated Season And League Title

    BARKER -- The Varsity Boys Track team won their first ever Niagara Orleans League Championship with an undefeated season. Refusing to lose this season, the Raiders were led to victory Monday night over Medina by Xavier Mann, who took first place in the 110 hurdles, high jump and long jump. Tyler Scheving contributed to the win with first place finishes in the 400 and the 1600 and had a school record tying effort while taking second place in the 200. Jed Platt captured first in both the 400 hurdles and the the pole vault. Mike Lantinen won the 800 while Nick Britt crushed his personal best to win in the discus. John Austin's school record in the shot put lasted only two meets as he broke it with a toss of 48 feet 5 inches. Platt, Scheving, Jordan Bender and Lantinen combined to win the 3200 meter relay.

    The Barker girls track team won their fourth meet of the season last night, beating Medina 76-65. Leading the way was Alex Gancasz with victories in the 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles, and the pole vault. Corina Giannone capped off a great night with the best throw of her career, breaking a 17 year old school record in the discus after already winning the shotput event. Rachel Anderson also had a strong evening, winning both the long jump and triple jump events. Eliza Dewart, Margie Zaepfel, and Katie Pryzybl rounded out the first place finishes for the ladies. Dewart won the 100, Zaepfel won the 800, and Pryzybl won the 3000. Dewart, Bree Sutch, Alex Gancasz and Savanna Gancasz combined to win the 400 meter relay.
