Modified Swim Team Wraps Up Successful Season
February 28, 2024
NEWFANE -- The Modified Swim team ended the season with a meet against all 5 of the other N-O League teams, and they looked good as everyone had personal best times. In the first event of the 200 Medley Relay, Addisyn Weller, Noralie Pierce, Grayson Prynn and Oscar Dergel took an exciting 2nd place overall. Swimming an elegantly fast 200 Free was Mirabelle Strong, who really dominated the event all season. Strong was 1st overall and finished the season with another personal best time. Prynn took 2nd in the 100 IM and Noralie Pierce was 3rd. Dergel impressed the crowd and officials with his fast 50 Free, taking 1st. Prynn had a personal best time and was 2nd in the 50 Butterfly. Xyon Weese swam a fast 50 Backstroke, taking 1st place. With a powerful pull and glide in the 50 Breaststroke, Strong took another 1st place overall in the league. Swimming the final race of the season, the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Weese, Strong, Pierce, and Dergel finished the meet with heart, talent and a 2nd place overall. Logan Purchlerz swam fast in his events for the team. It was an exceptional season for everyone and the team showed amazing athleticism and has much to be proud of.
Prynn Captures 3 First Place Finishes At Newfane

NEWFANE -- The Modified Swim Team had their last regular meet of the season on Monday, against Newfane. Barker swimmers just keep getting faster and stronger.
The 200 Medley Relay team of Addisyn Weller, Noralie Pierce, Grayson Prynn and Oscar Dergel had an exciting 1st place finish to start the meet. In the next race, the 200 Free, Mirabelle Strong also took 1st place. Keeping the winning streak going was Grayson Prynn in the 100 IM, taking 1st place in a close race with his teammate Noralie Pierce, who finished in 2nd place. Oscar Dergel swam fast in the 50 Free against his Newfane nemesis to grab a close 2nd. Logan Puchlerz took 3rd place in his heat of the 50 Free. Prynn took another 1st place in the 50 Butterfly. The 200 yard Freestyle Relay team of Xyon Weese, Strong, Pierce, and Dergel ended the meet just as they started it with an exciting 1st place for Barker.
Modified Swim Team Captures 7 of 9 1st Place Finishes

BARKER -- The Modified Swim Team had their final home meet of the season on Wednesday, against Newfane. Barker swimmers really impressed the crowd and the official with their swimming skills and sportsmanship. Out of 9 events, Barker took 7 first place finishes.
In the first event, the 200 Medley Relay, Addisyn Weller, Noralie Pierce, Grayson Prynn and Oscar Dergel took 1st with a fast race. Swimming a fast 8 lengths of the pool in the 200 Free was Mirabelle Strong, who took 1st and registered another personal best time in the 100 IM. Prynn was 1st with teammate Noralie Pierce right behind him for a close 2nd place finish. Dergel had a fast race in the 50 Free, earning a close 2nd. In the 50 Butterfly, Prynn captured his second 1st of the night. Continuing the run of 1st place finishes was Xyon Weese with a fast 100 Free. In the 50 Breaststroke, Strong took her second 1st place finish of the night. Just as they started the meet with a 1st place win, the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Weese, Strong, Pierce, and Dergel finished the meet with an exciting 1st place.
Logan Purchlerz swam fast in his events for the team.
The next meet will be at Newfane on Monday, February 26th.
7 Swimmers Post Best Times

AKRON -- The Modified Swim team competed on Monday against both Akron and Roy-Hart. Barker swimmers again had many personal best times. The 200 Medley Relay team of Addisyn Weller, Noralie Pierce, Grayson Prynn and Xyon Weese started the meet with a close 2nd place. With lots of compliments from the official and other coaches on her stroke, it was an exciting race to watch as Mirabelle Strong swam in the 200 Free, taking 1st with a personal best time. Oscar Dergel took 1st place in the 100 IM and, after swimming back-to-back races, was just out touched and finished in 2nd place in the 50 Free. Strong swam the 50 Breaststroke and took another 1st.
Prynn, Logan Puchlerz, Strong, Weller, Dergel, Pierce and Weese all had personal best times.
Barker Claims 200 Free Relay Victory

BARKER -- The Modified Swim team had another exciting meet Saturday against Albion and Newfane. Barker swimmers were fast, taking five 1st place finishes and many personal best times.
In the first event for Barker, Mirabelle Strong once again took 1st and had a personal best time in the 200 Free. Swimming the 100 IM for the first time, Oscar Dergel had a fast race and a 1st place finish. Noralie Pierce also swam the 100 IM for the first time and looked strong, taking 2nd place. In the next event of the 50 Free, with no rest, Dergel took another 1st. Xyon Weese swam a fast 100 Free and finished in 1st. Strong swam the 50 Breaststroke and earned a 2nd place finish, just out touched. Just as they started the meet with a 1st place win, the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Xyon Weese, Strong, Pierce, and Dergel finished the meet with an exciting 1st place.
Logan Purchlerz also swam fast in his events.
Dergal Stays Undefeated In 50 Free

AKRON -- On Wednesday, the Modified Swim team competed against all of the N-O League teams at Akron. Barker swimmers had many personal best times. The 200 Medley Relay team of Xyon Weese, Mirabelle Strong, Grayson Prynn and Oscar Dergel had an exciting 2nd place finish to start the meet. Strong swam in the 200 Free taking a 2nd. Dergel took another 1st place in the 50 Free and is undefeated in that race. Addisyn Weller had a great race in the 50 Backstroke, taking a close 2nd. Strong swam a graceful 50 Breaststroke and finished 1st. Noralie Pierce took 1st place in her heat of the 50 Breaststroke. Prynn, Logan Puchlerz, Strong, Weller, Dergel and Pierce all had personal best times. The next meet is on Saturday at home.
Puchlerz Takes 2nd In 50 Breaststroke

MIDDLEPORT -- The Modified Swim team had another exciting meet on Saturday against Roy-Hart and Newfane. Barker swimmers received compliments from both the officials and other coaches for their sportsmanship and strokes. In the first event of the 200 Medley Relay, Xyon Weese, Mirabelle Strong, Grayson Prynn and Oscar Dergel started the meet with a 1st place finish. In the 200 Free, Strong took 1st place with almost a full 25 yard lead. Prynn took 1st in the 100 IM. Dergel was 1st in the 50 Free. Noralie Pierce was 2nd in the 50 Free. Prynn swam the 50 Butterfly and finished 1st. Strong swam the 50 Breaststroke and was 1st. Weese grabbed 2nd in the 100 Free and Addisyn Weller was 2nd in the 50 Backstroke. Logan Puchlerz took 2nd in his heat of the 50 Breaststroke. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Weese, Prynn, Pierce, and Dergel had another close and exciting 2nd place just out touched by 200ths of a second.

Weller Part Of 2nd Place 200 Medley Relay

MIDDLEPORT -- The Modified Swim Team had an exciting meet Wednesday against Roy-Hart and Akron. Barker swimmers were fast with 1st place finishes, close 2nd place finishes and personal best times. In the first event of the 200 Medley Relay Addisyn Weller, Mirabelle Strong, Grayson Prynn and Oscar Dergel started the meet with a close 2nd place. It was a photo finish in the next event of the 200 Free with Strong just out touched to take another 2nd. With a fast start off the block, Prynn took 2nd place in the 100 IM. The fastest swimmer of the night was Dergel with a 1st place overall in the 50 Free. Kolt Wilson also took a 1st in his heat of the 50 Free. Prynn swam the 50 Butterfly and finished in 2nd place. Strong showed her competitive spirit and had a great race in the 50 Breaststroke taking 1st place. The 200 Freestyle Relay of Wilson, Xyon Weese, Noralie Pierce, and Dergel had another close exciting 2nd place.

Prynn Grabs 3 Wins In First Home Meet

BARKER -- The Modified Swim team had another amazing meet in their first home meet of the season against Roy-Hart and Newfane on Wednesday. Barker swimmers had many 1st place finishes. In the first event of the 200 Medley Relay, Addisyn Weller, Mirabelle Strong, Grayson Prynn and Xyon Weese again started the meet with a win. Strong swam back-to-back races in the next event of the 200 Free and was just out touched to take 2nd place. Prynn took another 1st place in the 100 IM. Kolt Wilson was 1st in his heat of the 50 Free. Prynn swam a fast strong race in the 50 Butterfly and finished 1st. Weese sprinted her way to a 1st place finish in the 100 Free. Weller had a great race in the 50 Backstroke, taking 1st place. The 200 Free Relay team of Wilson, Weller, Noralie Pierce, and Weese had another close and exciting 2nd place finish. Pierce and Logan Puchlerz had personal best times.
Strong Helps Leads Barker In Season Opener

MEDINA -- On Monday, the Modified Swim team swam hard against Medina & Albion in their first meet of the season. There are 9 events in a Modified Swim meet and Barker swimmers placed 1st in 7 of them. Barker was a close 2nd in the other two events). In the first event of the 200 Medley Relay, Addisyn Weller, Mirabelle Strong, Grayson Prynn and Oscar Dergel started Barker off with their initial 1st place of the night. In the next event, the 200 Free, Strong took 1st by swimming well in back-to-back events. In the 100 IM, Prynn took another 1st for the team. In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Dergel swam fast and took 1st place overall. Xyon Weese was 1st in her heat of the 50 Free and Kolt Wilson was 1st in his heat of the 50 Free. Prynn swam the 50 Butterfly and grabbed 1st . First time swimming the 100 Free, Xyon Weese sprinted her way to a win. Logan Puchlerz had a great race in the 50 Backstroke and was 2nd in his heat. Strong looked “strong!” taking 1st overall in the 50 Breaststroke with teammate Noralie Pierce coming in 2nd. The 200 Free Relay team of Wilson, Weese, Pierce, and Dergel closed out the meet for Barker with an exciting 2nd place. Barker’s next meet is Wednesday at home.
Modified Swimmers Finish Season With Much To Be Proud Of

AKRON -- The Modified Swim team ended its season on Wednesday, with a meet against all 5 of the other N-O League teams – and did they look good!
The 200 Medley Relay of Makayla King, Lauren Zglinicki, Ella Gancasz & Cheyann Walker took 3rd place overall.
In the 200 Free, Riley Klopfer set a fast pace and, with a smooth stroke, finished 4th. Mirabelle Strong came in 1st in the second heat of the 200 Free.
King dominated in the 100 IM all season and finished with a close 2nd place.
Walker held her own and took 3rd in the fastest heat of the 50 Free. In the next heat of the 50 Free, Oscar Dergel took 1st. Strong was 1st in her heat of the 50 Free.
Swimming the 50 Butterfly (and with a personal race of their own) Grayson Prynn was 3rd and Alina Riches was a mere 1 second behind in 4th.
King was 3rd overall in the 50 Backstroke. Fiona Wass took 3rd in her Backstroke heat. With a strong start, Iliana Manning was 1st in her heat of the 50 Backstroke.
Strong had a great start too along with a powerful glide to finish 3rd overall in the 50 Breaststroke. Zglinicki had a great race in her heat of the 50 Breastroke to grab 1st place.
Swimming the final race of the season for the MerRaiders in the 200 Freestyle Relay were Gancasz, Dergel, Klopfer, and Walker and represented Barker with heart and talent, finishing strong and taking 2nd place overall.
It was an absolutely amazing season for the entire team - a team with talent, heart, and so much to be proud of.
Wass Swims Personal Best Time At Roy-Hart

MIDDLEPORT -- Monday, the Barker Modified Swim team swam against Newfane & Roy-Hart. The 200 Medley Relay team of Makayla King, Lauren Zglinicki, Ella Gancasz, and Cheyann Walker took 1st place. Mirabelle Strong came in 2nd in the 200 Free. King took 2nd in the 100 IM. Walker was 1st in the fastest heat of the 50 Free. In the next heat of the 50 Free, Ella Gancasz took 1st. Zglinicki was 1st in her heat of the 50 Free. Swimming the 50 Butterfly, Grayson Prynn came in 1st. Oscar Dergel took 1st in the 100 Free with Riley Klopfer a close 2nd. King was 1st in the 50 Backstroke. Iliana Manning took 1st in her heat of the 50 Backstroke. The 200 Free Relay team of Gancasz, Dergel, Klopfer, and Walker closed out the meet with a 1st place finish.
Swimming personal best times and looking strong were Alina Riches and Fiona Wass.
Barker’s final meet of the season is Wednesday, February 15th at Akron.
Riches Wins In First Time Event Entry
February 8, 2023
BARKER -- The Barker Modified Swim team did it again! The team had another amazing meet against Newfane and Roy-Hart on Wednesday, with Barker swimmers taking first place in 8 out of 9 events. The initial event of the night, the 200 Medley Relay, was a win for Barker as Makayla King, Lauren Zglinicki, Grayson Prynn and Cheyann Walker got the team started on its winning ways.
In the 200 Free, Mirabelle Strong took a close 2nd.
King took 1st in the 100 IM.
Walker was 1st in the fastest heat of the 50 Free. Ella Gancasz and Lauren Zglinicki also took 1st in their respective heats of the 50 Free.
Swimming the 50 Butterfly for the first time, Alina Riches came in 1st.
Oscar Dergel took 1st place in the 100 Free.
King was 1st in the 50 Backstroke and had a personal best time. Fiona Wass was 3rd in the 50 Back. Iliana Manning took 1st in her heat of the 50 Backstroke.
Strong showed her competitive spirit and dug deep, swimming to 1st in the 50 Breaststroke.
The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Gancasz, Dergel, Riley Klopfer, and Walker swam fast with another exciting 1st place finish for Barker.

Gancasz In On Three 1st Place Finishes

BARKER -- The Barker Modified Swim Team hosted Medina and Albion on Monday night and swam fast in their second home meet of the season. The 200 Medley Relay of Makayla King, Lauren Zglinicki, Ella Gancasz and Cheyann Walker took 1st place to start the meet on a winning note. In the 200 Free, Riley Klopfer took 1st place for the Raiders and Mirabelle Strong was a close 2nd. King had a close race in the 100 IM and took 2nd. In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Walker took 2nd place overall. Gancasz and Zglinicki each took 1st in their heats of the 50 Free. Grayson Prynn was 1st in the Butterfly. Oscar Dergel took 1st in the 100 Free and Klopfer was 2nd. King was 1st in the 50 Backstroke. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Gancasz, Dergel, Klopfer, and Walker swam fast and grabbed another exciting 1st place finish.

In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Walker took 2nd place overall. Klopfer, Oscar Dergel and Grayson Prynn all took 1st in their heats of the 50 Free. Dergel also took 1st in the 100 Free. King was 2nd in the 50 Backstroke. Fiona Wass finished 1st in her heat of the 50 Backstroke. Strong had a fast race taking 1st in the 50 Breaststroke. Alina Riches had a great race in the second heat of the 50 Breaststroke. The 200 Free Relay team of Ella Gancasz, Dergel, Klopfer, and Walker swam fast with an exciting 1st place finish.

Prynn Part Of 3 First Place Finishes
February 1, 2023
BARKER -- On Wednesday, the Modified Swim team swam hard in their first home meet of the season against Roy-Hart and Newfane. Out of the 9 events, Barker swimmers placed 1st in 8 of them and they were only out touched in that 9th event.
In the first event of the 200 Medley Relay, Makayla King, Mirabelle Strong, Grayson Prynn and Cheyann Walker started Barker off with their first win of the night.
In the 200 Free, Mirabelle Strong took a close 2nd place (almost 1st) with her teammate Riley Klopfer close behind in 3rd. In the 100 IM, King grabbed 1st, Prynn took 2nd, Alina Riches was a close 3rd.
In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Walker took 1st overall. Oscar Dergel had a 2nd in the same heat. Klopfer took 1st in her 50 Free and Lauren Zglinicki did the same in her heat.
Prynn was 1st in the 50 Butterfly.
Oscar Dergel, swimming the 100 Free for the first time, sprinted his way to a 1st place finish.
King took another 1st overall in the 50 Backstroke. Iliana Manning had a great race in the 50 Back, finishing 3rd. Fiona Wass took 1st place in her heat of the 50 Backstroke, just after swimming in the 100 Free.
Strong looked was 1st overall in the 50 Breaststroke.
The 200-yard Freestyle Relay team of Dergel, Klopfer, Prynn, and Walker closed out the meet for the Raiders with an exciting 1st place finish.

Barker Claims Top 3 Finishes In 50 Free
January 30, 2023
NEWFANE -- The Barker Modified Swim Team had a great meet on Monday at Newfane, swimming against all 6 of the league teams. The 200 Medley Relay of Makayla King, Mirabelle Strong, Ella Gancasz and Cheyann Walker swam fast with personal best times and took a 3rd place finish for Barker.
In the next event, swimming 8 laps in the 200 Free, Riley Klopfer swam a graceful front crawl to also finish 3rd. In the 100 IM, King took the initial 1st place of the night for Barker and made finish look easy.
In the 50 Free, Barker, again (against all the league teams), took the top 3 finishes. In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Walker took 1st place overall. Gancasz took 1st in her heat of the 50 Free. Klopfer took 1st in her heat of the 50 Free.
King had a 2nd place finish overall in the 50 Backstroke. Strong placed 2nd overall in the 50 Breaststroke. Alina Riches took 1st in the second heat of the 50 Breaststroke. The 200 Free Relay team of Gancasz, Klopfer, Grayson Prynn, and Walker swam personal best times with an exciting 3rd place finish. In the 2nd heat of the 200 Free Relay, Iliana Manning, Riches, Fiona Wass and Strong also had an exciting 3rd place finish to end the meet with high energy and great teamwork.
Barker’s next meet is Wednesday, February 1st at home against Roy-Hart and Newfane.
King Places In 3 Races
January 28, 2023
AKRON -- The 200 Medley Relay of Makayla King, Lauren Zglinicki, Ella Gancasz and Cheyann Walker started the meet for Barker with a crowd cheering close 2nd place finish. The team was almost 1st. King swam the 100 IM for the first time this season and took 2nd place for Barker. King’s teammates, Grayson Prynn and Alina Riches, both finished strong. It was also their first time swimming the IM. Out of 20 swimmers in the 50 Free, Barker took the top 3 finishes.
In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Walker swam her heart out, finishing seconds ahead of everyone else, to take 1st place overall for Barker. Riley Klopfer took 1st place in her heat of the 50 Free. Gancasz took 2nd place in her heat of the 50 Free.
Prynn represented the Raiders in the 50 Fly with a 2nd place finish. Makayla King took 1st place overall in the 50 Backstroke. Mirabelle Strong had an amazing race and sprint to the finish in the 50 Breaststroke to grab 1st place.
The 200 Free Relay team of Gancasz, Prynn, Klopfer and Walker swam personal best times with a very exciting 1st place finish against Akron and Roy-Hart. Also earning personal best times and swimming fast for Barker were Iliana Manning and Fiona Wass.
Barker’s next meet is Monday, January 30th at Newfane.
King Continues to Roll with Victory in 100 IM

BARKER -- In their final meet of the season, the Modified Swim Team competed against Medina and Roy-Hart and showed much heart and talent. The team had an awesome meet and a number of personal best times.
Riley Klopfer swam a smooth graceful 200 Free taking a strong 3rd place. Makayla King has really owned the 100 IM and took another 1st place while Faith Bowerman took 3rd place. Cheyann Walker had her personal best times of the season once again taking 1st place for her team in both the 50 Free and 100 Free. Ava Keleman took 1st place in her heat of the 50 Free having a great flip turn speeding her on to victory. Bowerman had a great race in the 50 Backstroke and finished 2nd. Chloe Duchow had a perfect start and dive in the 100 Free taking 3rd place. Brooke Dunkelberger took 1st place in her heat of the 50 Backstroke and Lauren Zglinicki had a great race in the 50 Breaststroke finishing in 4th place. Swimming the final race of the season in the 200 Freestyle Relay were King, Klopfer, Zglinicki, and Dunkelberger.
The girls represented Barker with heart and talent finishing strong in 3rd place. The whole team had personal best times and great races to be proud of. It was an awesome meet for everyone and an amazing season. The team had talent, heart, and so much to be proud of.
Medley Relay Team Grabs 3rd

AKRON – It was another exciting meet Saturday for the Modified Swim team against Medina, Akron, and Albion with Barker swimmers taking first place in 3 events. Swimming the Medley Relay for the first time this season and taking a strong 3rd place finish overall, just missing a 2nd place by seconds was Ava Keleman, Lauren Zglinicki, Makayla King, and Chloe Duchow. King swam a great race in the 100 IM taking another 1st place in the event with Brooke Dunkelberger taking 3rd. Cheyann Walker once again swam super-fast taking 1st place in both the 50 Free and 100 Free. Also swimming fast for Barker with personal best times was Riley Klopfer.
Barker’s final meet of the season is Monday, February 7th at home against Medina.

AKRON -- On Saturday the Modified Swim Team swam against Akron and showed great sportsmanship and team spirit. Riley Klopfer had a great race in the 200 Free swimming 8 lengths of the pool and finished in 3rd place. Makayla King took another 1st place in the 100 IM with Faith Bowerman taking 3rd place and Ava Keleman in 5th place. Cheyann Walker swam fast for Barker taking 1st in both the 50 Free and 100 Free. Lauren Zglinicki had her best race of the season with a strong 2nd place finish in the 50 Breaststroke.
Also swimming fast for Barker with personal best times were Chloe Duchow and Brooke Dunkelberger.
Barker’s next meet is Wednesday at home with Akron and Medina at 4:30 PM.
Klopfer Grabs 2nd In 200 Free
January 27, 2022
ALBION – Thursday the Modified Swim team swam against Medina and Albion in their first tri-meet. Riley Klopfer started the meet for her team with a 2nd place finish in the 200 Free and it was her first time swimming the event. Faith Bowerman took 1st place in the 100 IM with Makayla King a close 2nd. Chloe Duchow took 1st place in her heat of the 100 IM. Cheyann Walker took 2nd place for her team in the fastest heat of the 50 Free and also had a 1st place in the 100 Free. Also swimming fast for Barker with personal best times were Lauren Zglinicki and Ava Keleman.

AKRON -- On Saturday the Modified Swim Team traveled to Akron and the Barker swimmers took 1st place in several events. The entire team had personal best times. Makayla King swam the 100 IM for the first time this season and took 1st place for her team. Faith Bowerman, Riley Klopfer, and Ava Keleman all finished strong for Barker in their first time swimming the IM too. Bowerman took 3rd, Klopfer 4th, and Keleman 5th.
In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Cheyann Walker swam her heart out, finishing seconds ahead of everyone else, to grab a 1st place for Barker. King took 1st place in her heat of the 50 Free.
King also took 1st place overall in the 50 Breaststroke for the Raiders. Bowerman had another amazing race in the 50 Backstroke and took 1st.
The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Bowerman, Chloe Duchow, Lauren Zglinicki, and Walker swam personal best times with a very close and exciting 2nd place finish against Akron.
The next meet is Tuesday, January 25th at home against Medina at 5:00 PM.
Bowerman Takes 100 Backstroke In Meet At Albion

ALBION -- The Modified Swim team had an incredible first meet of the season at Albion on Wednesday and took several 1st place finishes. In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Chloe Duchow took 2nd place. Riley Klopfer took 1st place in her heat of the 50 Free with her teammate Ava Keleman finishing right behind her in 2nd place. Lauren Zglinicki took 1st place in her heat of the 50 Free for the Raiders. Duchow had a great 100 Free swim, taking a 1st for her team.
Faith Bowerman had an amazing race taking 1st place in the fastest heat of 100 Backstroke. Keleman took 1st place in her heat of the 100 Backstroke with Klopfer finishing a close 2nd place.
Lauren Zglinicki sprinted to the end of her race in the 50 Breaststroke getting just out touched and finished in 2nd place.
The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Bowerman, Duchow, Zglinicki and Klopfer swam personal best times with a strong 2nd place finish.
It was a great meet for everyone and all Barker swimmers showed tremendous positive team spirit. The official even said, "What a great meet and such a nice group of swimmers."
Evans Takes Second In 200 Free At League Meet

AKRON -- On Friday, in the final meet of the season, the Modified Swim Team competed against all of the N-O League schools and really showed everyone that Barker swimmers have heart and talent. The team had an awesome meet and swam fast. The 200 Medley Relay of Cole Carnes, Kayleigh Thompson, Emma Evans and Abby Socie finished the season fourth place overall in the League. Evans finished with a second place this season in the 200 Free. Carnes had another exciting race with a 4th place finish in the 100 IM. Shelby Dauphinee finished 6th overall in the 50 Free. Socie, in the 2nd heat of the 50 Free, took a 3rd place for her team. Evie Harris finished 5th overall in the 100 Free. In the 50 Backstroke, Carnes remained undefeated and finished her season 1st overall in the league. Gloria Haller took third place in her heat of the Backstroke. In the 50 Breaststroke, Thompson swam strong in her race taking fifth place.
Other swimmers with great races to be proud of were Meghan Mallon, Alexis Dauphinee, Chloe Crafts, and Neila Johnson. The team had talent, heart and completed a season with much to be proud of.
Carnes Remains Undefeated In 50 Backstroke

BARKER -- The Modified Swim Team had their last home meet of the season on Wednesday with a tri-meet against Medina and Akron. It was another meet to be proud of as Barker swimmers swam their absolute best and took several first place finishes with many personal best times. With a huge crowd cheering them on the meet started with the 200 Medley Relay team of Cole Carnes, Kayleigh Thompson, Emma Evans and Abby Socie. Carnes led the relay team starting the meet with an energetic personal best time in the Backstroke of 38.2 seconds. Socie dropped 3 seconds off her leg of the relay with a personal best time of 36.42 secs in the front crawl. It was their best race of the season and the Lady Raiders took a second place for Barker.
Evans made it look easy swimming back-to-back races and showed her athletic abilities taking another first place in the 200 Freestyle. Carnes continued to show her competitive focus with a close race in the 100 IM, finishing 2nd for Barker. A few events later Evans swam strong again and took 1st place in the 50 Fly. Evie Harris and Shelby Dauphinee both had a great race in their heat of the 100 Free.
Carnes remained undefeated in her event of the 50 Backstroke with another first place. Gloria Haller had an amazing race and took 2nd place for Barker in her heat of the 50 Backstroke. Thompson had a strong finish in her heat of the 50 Breaststroke and so did Meghan Mallon in her heat of the 50 Breaststroke.

Juliana Nabs 1st In 50 Backstroke

NEWFANE -- Monday the Modified Swim Team had another great meet against Newfane and Albion. Barker swimmers took several first place finishes and had many personal best times. Emma Evans dropped another 3 seconds in the 200 Freestyle taking a photo finish 2nd place in the event. Cole Carnes had a close race in the 100 IM finishing 2nd for Barker. Abby Socie had a great race, start to finish, and sprinted her way to 1st place in her heat of the 50 Free. Caleb Pierce took 1st place in his heat of the 50 Free. Chloe Crafts had another strong 2nd place finish for Barker in her heat of the 50 Free. Evans helped her team by offering to swim in the 50 Fly, had a beautiful race to watch and took 1st place. Evie Harris and Kayleigh Thompson both had a strong 2nd place finish for Barker in their heats of the 100 Free. Carnes remains undefeated in her event of the 50 Backstroke taking first place. Monica Juliana also took 1st place for Barker in her heat of the 50 Backstroke. Carnes, Shelby Dauphinee, Socie, and Evans finished the meet with an exciting 2nd place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Socie Grabs 1st And 2nd As Part Of Relays

NEWFANE -- On Thursday the Modified Swim Team swam hard in their meet at Newfane against Newfane and Akron. Barker swimmers took several first place finishes. The meet started with the 200 Medley Relay team consisting of Cole Carnes, Kayleigh Thompson, Emma Evans and Abby Socie winning first place for Barker. After just swimming the 50 Fly, Evans swam the 200 Freestyle taking another first place to remain undefeated this season. Carnes had a close race in the 100 IM just getting out touched and finishing 2nd for Barker. Shelby Dauphinee had a great start off the blocks and sprinted her way to a 2nd place finish in the fastest heat of the 50 Free. Chloe Crafts had a strong 2nd place finish for Barker in her heat of the 50 Free. Carnes remained undefeated in the 50 Backstroke taking another first place. Thompson had a great race and took 2nd place in the Breaststroke. Dauphinee, Socie, Thompson and Evans finished the meet with an exciting 2nd place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

ALBION -- The Modified Swim Team continued to improve their times and their swimming. In the tri-meet against Albion and Medina on Tuesday, Barker’s Medley Relay team of Cole Carnes, Kayleigh Thompson, Emma Evans and Abby Socie started the meet off with a close second place finish for Barker.
Swimming back-to-back events, Evans had a great race in the 200 Freestyle taking 1st and getting a personal best time. Shelby Dauphinee in the 50 Free and Socie in the 100 IM had close races and the spectators all cheered wildly at the finish. Both swimmers were just out-touched for first place. Carnes had an exciting race and finish, taking a first place in the 50 Backstroke. Gloria Haller took first in her heat of the Backstroke.

Evans Wins 200 Free

Emma Evans swam fast in the 200 Freestyle taking first place for Barker. Cole Carnes took 2nd place in the 100 IM just getting out touched. Evangeline Harris also had a close race in the 100 free taking 2nd place for Barker. In the 50 Backstroke Carnes had another 1st place finish remaining undefeated.

Pierce Grabs First In 50 Breastroke

BARKER -- The Modified Swim Team had a great meet against Roy-Hart Monday. The team took 1st in several events. Barker’s Medley Relay team of Cole Carnes, Kayleigh Thompson, Emma Evans and Abby Socie started the meet off with a 1st place finish for Barker. Evans took 1st place in the 200 Freestyle and had another personal best time. In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Shelby Dauphinee took 1st place. Carnes took 1st place in the 100 Backstroke. Caleb Pierce sprinted to the end of his race in the 50 Breaststroke taking 1st place in his heat. The 200 yard Freestyle Relay team of Carnes, Evangeline Harris, Socie and Evans took another first place finish.

Carnes In On Two Wins In First Meet Of Season

BARKER -- The Modified Swim team had an exciting first meet of the season against Medina, Saturday with Barker swimmers taking first place in several events. The 200 Medley Relay of Cole Carnes, Kayleigh Thompson, Evans and Abby Socie started the meet out for Barker with a crowd cheering first place finish. Emma Evans swam a great race in the 200 Freestyle taking a first place and getting a personal best time.
Socie took 2nd in her race of the 100 IM. Evangeline Harris sprinted her way to a 2nd place finish in the fastest heat of the 50 Free. Meghan Mallon had a strong 2nd place finish for Barker in the next heat of the 50 Free. Carnes had a great race and finish, taking a first place in the 50 Backstroke. Thompson took 2nd place in her race of the 50 Breaststroke.

Modified Swim Team Completes Season With Awesome Meet And Several Personal Best Times

AKRON -- On Friday, in the final meet of the season, the Modified Swim team competed against all of the N-O League schools and really showed everyone there that Barker swimmers have heart and talent. The team had an awesome meet and a number of personal best times.
The 200 Medley Relay of Cole Carnes, Alexa Zglinicki, Emma Evans and Lucas Flegal finished the season third place overall in the League. In the 2nd heat of the 200 Medley Relay Keira Dalton, Levi Hauser, Zackary Santarsiero and Anna Bowerman took a first place for Barker.
Evans is undefeated this season in the 200 Free taking another first place and finishing strong with a personal best time. Santarsiero had an another exciting race and was just out-touched for a 2nd place finish in the 100 IM. Flegal had a close race and also finished 2nd overall in the league this season in the 50 Free. Bowerman, in the 2nd heat of the 50 Free, took a first place for her team. Bowerman also took 1st place in the 2nd heat of the 100 Free. In the 50 Backstroke, Carnes had a close race and finished her season 2nd overall in the league. In her heat of the 50 Breaststroke, Addison Szafranski swam strong in her race taking first place. Other swimmers with personal best times and great races to be proud of were Lucas DerSarkissian, Abbie Socie, Liz Giarla and Phoebe Rignall.
It was an awesome meet fo everyone and the team had an absolutely amazing season. The had talent, heart and so much to be proud of. The team pool party and awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 9th.
Carnes & Zglinicki Each Grab First Place Finish

BARKER -- On Wednesday it was another exciting meet for the Modified Swim team as Barker hosted a tri meet against Medina and Akron. In their final home meet of the season the Raiders competed in front of a packed house. The team gave all the spectators and fans lots to cheer about. Barker swimmers took first place in 5 out of 9 events.
The 200 Medley Relay of Cole Carnes, Alexa Zglinicki, Zackary Santarsiero and Lucas Flegal started the meet out for Barker with an incredibly close, just out-touched 2nd place finish. In the next race Emma Evans took first place for her team in the 200 Free. Zackary Santarsiero had an exciting race with a 1st place finish in the 100 IM. Lucas Flegal remained undefeated this season in the 50 Free swimming fast to take a first place for Barker. In the 50 Backstroke Carnes out-touched Medina for a first place finish. Zglinicki swam strong taking first place in the 50 Breaststroke.

Hauser In On 3 Victories At Newfane

NEWFANE -- The Modified Swim team had an amazing meet against Newfane on Thursday with Barker swimmers taking first place in 8 out of 9 events.
The first event started the Raiders team on a night of winning streaks with the 200 Medley Relay of Cole Carnes, Levi Hauser, Emma Evans and Lucas Flegal taking first place. Evans took a first place in the 200 Freestyle with another personal best time. Zackary Santarsiero took first place in the 100 IM. Flegal had a personal best time and had another first place finish in the fastest heat of the 50 Free. In her heat of the 50 Free Abby Socie had a first place finish. Evans took her third first place finish of the night in the 50 Fly. Carnes swam fast for a first place finish in the 50 Backstroke. Hauser had a first place finish in the 50 Breaststroke. The 200 Free Relay team of Santarsiero, Hauser, Anna Bowerman and Flegal finished the meet with another first place finish for their team.
The following swimmers also had a great night in both their individual events and really helped their relay teams finish strong and win: Lucas DerSarkissian, Bowerman, Keira Dalton, Mackenzie Dodge, Phoebe Rignall and Liz Giarla.

Santarsiero Nabs 1st Place In 100 IM

BARKER -- The Modified Swim team had an exciting meet against Medina on Wednesday with Barker swimmers taking first place in 6 out of 9 events.
The 200 Medley Relay of Cole Carnes, Levi Hauser, Emma Evans and Lucas Flegal started the meet out for Barker with a crowd cheering first place finish. Evans swam a great race in the 200 Freestyle taking first. Zackary Santarsiero made his race look easy taking 1st place in the 100 IM. Lucas Flegal sprinted his way to a 1st place finish in the fastest heat of the 50 Free. Keira Dalton wasn't far behind taking 2nd for Barker in that same heat of the 50 Free. A couple of races later Dalton took 1st place in the 100 Freestyle with her teammate Anna Bowerman finishing a close second. Carnes had a great race and finish as she out-touched Medina for first in the 50 Backstroke.

200 Medley Relay Team Picks Up Victory In 2nd Heat Of Race At Newfane

NEWFANE -- On Friday the Modified Swim team swam hard in their meet at Newfane against Newfane, Albion, Akron, Medina and Roy-Hart. Barker swimmers took several first place finishes.
Keira Dalton, Levi Hauser, Zachary Santarsiero and Addison Szafranski started the meet taking first place in the 2nd heat of the 200 Medley Relay. Emma Evans had a first place finish for Barker in the 200 Free. Lucas Flegal had a really close second place finish in the fastest heat of the 50 Free. Levi Hauser and Addison Szafranski took first place in their heats of the 100 Breaststroke. In her heat of the 50 Backstroke Phoebe Rignall took first place, as did Keira Dalton in her race of the 100 Free.

Evans Wins 200 Free In Opening Meet Of Season

BARKER -- Monday night the Modified Swim team swam hard in their first meet, at home against Roy-Hart. Barker swimmers took several first place finishes. The meet started out with a close one second difference between first and second place with Barker just getting out touched for second place in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of Cole Carnes, Alexa Zglinicki, Emma Evans and Lucas Flegal just missed the win. Emma Evans swam back-to-back races taking first place for Barker in the 200 Free. Zack Santersiero kept Barker's winning streak going as he took first place in the next race, the 100 IM.
In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Lucas Flegal had a close race with another first place finish for the the team. Keira Dalton took first place in her heat of the 50 Free. The 100 Freestyle race showed Santarsiero's strength as a swimmer as he sprinted the last 25 yards of his race to win. Alexa Zglinicki had a great race in her heat of the 50 Breaststroke, just getting out-touched to take second place. In her heat of the 100 Breaststroke, Dalton took first place.

Koytila Sets Personal Best In 50 Free

BARKER & MEDINA -- The Modified Swim team finished up their season with a lot of heart and personal best times.
In the last home meet Friday against Albion Jesse Koytila brought the crowd to its feet with his race of the 50 Free. Everyone cheered Jesse on as he swam and finished his race with a great time and an awesome performance. In the 50 Breaststroke Emma McGrath took 1st place and Brent Johnson took 2nd. Swimming personal best times that night were Kaitlyn Goodwin, Levi Hauser and Jesse Koytila.
In the last away meet against Medina on Monday night the team looked great and received many compliments from the other team and the official on their strokes. Especially the Barker group of breaststrokers: McGrath, Johnson, Hauser and Alexa Zglinicki. In a photo finish, Lizzie Hopkins was just out touched in the 200 Freestyle, taking 3rd. McGrath swam with heart in Medina taking 1st place in the 100 IM and getting another personal best time. In his heat of the 50, Hauser was just out touched and took 2nd place. In the fastest heat of the 50 Breaststroke Johnson took 1st place and also took a 1st place in his heat of the 50 Backstroke. Zglinicki took 1st place in her heat of the Breaststroke.
Other swimmers with personal best times and great races to be proud of were Goodwin and Liz Giarla. It was an absolutely amazing season with a team of talent, heart and so much to be proud of.
Goodwin Swims 200 Free For First Time

MIDDLEPORT -- In the meet at Roy-Hart on Wednesday against the Rams, Barker swimmers represented BCS athletics well and consistently earned personal best times.
In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Brent Johnson had a close race with a 2nd place and a personal best time. Levi Hauser took first place in his heat of the 50 Free. Alexa Zglinicki had a great race in her heat of the 50 Breaststroke taking a first place for Barker. Emma McGrath took 2nd place in the 100 IM. Kaitlyn Goodwin swam the 200 Freestyle (8 lengths of the pool) for the first time in a meet and did amazing. In the 100 Free, Liz Giarla had a personal best time by swimming fast. The last race of the evening, the 200 Freestyle Relay, was a close one with McGrath, Hauser, Paris Moffitt and Zglinicki taking an exciting 2nd place finish for Barker.

BARKER -- The Modified Swim team swam hard in their meet against Newfane on Monday. Barker swimmers took several first place finishes and had many personal best times.
Emma McGrath had another amazing performance with two first place finishes: 100 IM and 100 Breaststroke. McGrath was also the anchor for the 200 Relay team of Lizzie Hopkins, Alexa Zglinicki and Brent Johnson. McGrath helped her team finish with a close second. Zglinicki was also a fierce competitor took first place in the fastest heat of the 50 Free. Zglinicki took first place in her heat of the 100 Breaststroke. Liz Giarla, Hopkins and Levi Hauser all had crowd cheering races as they took close 2nd place finishes for Barker in each of their events.

Johnson Finishes A Close Second In 50 Free

AKRON -- In the meet at Akron on Wednesday night, Barker swimmers were fast and earned personal best times.
Lizzie Hopkins took 2nd in the 200 Freestyle and 1st place in the 100 Backstroke. Emma McGrath took 1st place in the 100 IM and was just out-touched at the finish, taking a close 2nd place in the 100 Breaststroke. In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Brent Johnson took 2nd in another close race for the Raiders.
Other swimmers with personal best times were Liz Giarla, Levi Hauser, Paris Moffitt and Kaitlyn Goodwin. One of the Akron swimmers told the team at the end of the meet, "What a great team!". Barker’s next meet is home versus Medina on Friday, March 2nd.

Hopkins Shines In Season Opener At Newfane

NEWFANE -- Over mid-winter break the Modified Swim team swam hard at Newfane during their first meet of the season. Barker competed against the hosts along with Albion, and Roy-Hart. Barker swimmers took several first place finishes.
The meet started out with a first place finish for Barker in the 200 Free by Lizzie Hopkins. Hopkins also had a close second place finish in the 100 Back.
In each heat of the 100 Breaststroke Barker finished with a first place. Emma McGrath, Brent Johnson and Alexa Zglinicki all took first place in their respective heat of the 100 Breaststroke. The following swimmers had personal best times and swam hard in their races: Paris Moffitt, Kaitlyn Goodwin, and Liz Giarla.

NORTH TONAWADA -- In the Modified Swim team's last meet of the season against North Tonawanda and Franklin on Wednesday night, Barker swimmers swam hard and everyone earned personal best times. Ryan Santarsiero had an "absolutely fantastic performance" in the 200 Freestyle taking 1st. Emma McGrath had a close race in the 100 IM taking 2nd place and getting another personal best time. In the fastest heat of the 50 Drew Sandolfini was just out touched, taking 2nd place. Jessalynn Coen took 1st place in her heat of the 50 free and had a personal best time. In the fastest heat of the 50 Breaststroke, Santarsiero took 1st place. Faith Giarla took 2nd place in her heat of the breaststroke.
Other swimmers with personal best times were Kaitlyn Goodwin, Samantha Mace, Cassidy Neamon, Gabriella Bomjardim, Chloe Lee, Joe Cantella, William Goodlander, Emily Bobzien, Elizabeth Hopkins, Paris Moffitt, Brent Johnson and Rachel Haseley. Barker’s Medley Relay team of Lizzie Hopkins, Chloe Lee, Ryan Santarsiero and Drew Sandolfini started the meet off with a close 2nd place finish for Barker. Santarsiero took 1st in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke. In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Sandolfini took 1st place. Hopkins took 1st in the 100 Backstroke. The 200 yard Freestyle relay team of Emma McGrath, William Goodlander, Hopkins and Sandolfini took a 2nd place finish.
Swimming hard for Barker, Faith Giarla and Brent Johnson had personal best times. Barker’s next meet is at home on Monday against Lockport.
McGrath Grabs 3 First Place Finishes Against Newfane

BARKER -- The Modified Swim team swam hard in their meet against Newfane on Wednesday. Barker swimmers took 7 first place finishes out of 9 events. The meet started out with a first place finish for Barker with the 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Lizzie Hopkins, Chloe Lee, Ryan Santarsiero and Drew Sandolfini. Santarsiero also had first place finishes in his other two events - the 200 Yard Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke.
Emma McGrath had three first place finishes last night in her events: the 100 IM, 100 Free and 200 Free Relay. Hopkins had a first place finish in the 100 back. The 200 Free Relay team of McGrath, William Goodlander, Hopkins and Sandolfini finished the meet with an exciting first place finish for their team.
The following swimmers had personal best times and swam hard in their races: Joey Cantella, Samantha Mace, Brent Johnson and Emily Bobzien. Barker’s next meet is at Roy-Hart on Friday, February 10th at 5:00 PM.
Medley Relay Team Gets Barker Started With Exciting 1st Place Finish At Medina

MEDINA -- The Modified Swim team continues to improve their times and their swimming. In the meet on Monday at Medina, Barker's Medley Relay team of Lizzie Hopkins, Chloe Lee, Ryan Santarsiero and Drew Sandolfini started the meet off with an exciting first place finish. Swimming back-to-back events Ryan Santarsiero had a great race in the 200 Freestyle, taking 1st.
Drew Sandolfini, in the 50 Free, and Emma McGrath, in the 100 IM, had close races. With the spectators all cheering wildly at the finish, both Sandolfini and McGrath were just out-touched for the first place finish.
The following swimmers had personal best times and swam hard in their races: McGrath, Lee, Kaitlyn Goodwin and William Goodlander.
Barker's next meet is home versus Newfane on Wednesday, February 8th.

The 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Lizzie Hopkins, Chloe Lee, Ryan Santarsiero and Drew Sandolfini started out the meet with a first place finish. Santarsiero also had first place finishes in his other two events - the 100 IM and 100 Breaststroke. In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Drew Sandolfini took first place for his team.

Santarsiero Takes 1st in 200 Free At North Tonawanda

NORTH TONAWANDA -- The Modified Swim Team competed against North Tonawanda and Albion on Wednesday with Barker swimmers earning some personal best times.
Ryan Santarsiero had a very impressive race in the 200 Freestyle taking 1st. In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Drew Sandolfini had a close race with a 2nd place and a personal best time. Emma McGrath took 2nd place in the 100 yard Freestyle with her personal best time.
Other swimmers with personal best times were: Chloe Lee, Faith Giarla, Paris Moffitt and Brent Johnson.
Barker’s next meet is home versus Akron, on Friday, February 3rd.
Modified Swim Team Has Great Meet Against Niagara Wheatfield

BARKER -- The Modified Swim Team had a great meet against Niagara Wheatfield on Monday. The team took first place in several events. Barker’s Medley Relay team of Lizzie Hopkins, Brent Johnson, Ryan Santarsiero and Drew Sandolfini started the meet off with a 2nd place finish for Barker. Santarsiero had a great race in the 200 Freestyle taking 1st. In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Sandolfini took 1st place. Emma McGrath took 2nd place in the 100 Freestyle and in the 50 Breaststroke Chloe Lee took a 2nd place. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of William Goodlander, McGrath, Sandolfini and Santarsiero had an exciting finish with Barker taking first place.
Barker’s next meet is on Wednesday, February 1st at North Tonawanda High School versus North Tonawanda and Albion.
