ANGOLA -- The Barker/Roy-Hart Wrestlers traveled to Lake Shore High School over the weekend to compete in the Section VI State Qualifier Tournament. Luke Fay placed 5th and Ronan Klug placed 2nd. By placing 2nd, Klug earned the opportunity to travel to Albany to compete in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association State Championship Tournament.

MEDINA -- The Barker/Roy-Hart wrestlers competed at Medina over the weekend in the annual Gary Gross Memorial Tournament. The team had a great showing. Taking 2nd place was Ronan Klug. Lucas Kimber, Luke Fay, and Joe Jopp all grabbed 3rd in their respective weight class.
Rams Complete Undefeated Home Wrestling Season

MIDDLEPORT -- The Barker/Roy-Hart Wrestlers hosted Holley-Kendall on Wednesday night and won handily, 45-24. Picking up victories for the Rams were Ben Hickman, Joe Jopp, Luke Fay, Dean Kirsch, Anthony Adams, Joel Hickman, Ronan Klug, and Dan Moore.
The Rams Wrestlers finished with an undefeated record at home this season and look to close out their team season strong against Tonawanda next week.

AKRON -- The Barker/Roy-Hart wrestlers competed at the annual Akron Tournament over the winter break. Taking 2nd for the JV side was Ben Hickman. On the Varsity side, Dan Moore placed 2nd and Ronan Klug placed 3rd.
The Rams will host Akron this Thursday, January 4th in Barker.

JAMESTOWN -- The Roy-Hart/Barker Wrestlers went to Southwestern High School to compete in the annual Class C/D Championships over the weekend. Quinn Brown had the best finish of the team with a 2nd place result.
Placing 4th were Lucas Kimber and Luke Fay. Placing 5th was Ronan Klug. Placing 6th was Jaeyden Robinson.

FALCONER -- The Barker Roy-Hart Wrestling team had their best performance of the season over the weekend at the Class C Sectionals in Falconer. The team finished in fifth place with Joe Nolan and Eli Eaton taking 5th, while Dan Wheeler grabbed a 4th place finish. Kirk Fay, DJ Gardner, and Ryan Ulrich all were 3rd. Sam Dauphin and Brent Bachman both took 2nd.

In the Varsity tournament the Barker/Roy-Hart wrestling team took 3rd overall with 3 champions. Cameron Swick (145), Joe Dimayo (220), and Collin Anderson (285). Also placing was Brent Bachman 2nd at 120, DJ Gardner 2nd at 160, Kirk Fay 2nd at 285, Ryan Ulrich 3rd at 138, and Jon Page 3rd at 182. Swick was voted the tournament’s most outstanding wrestler.

PORTVILLE -- On Saturday the Wrestling team participated in the Section 6 Class D Tournament in Portville. The Raiders had six wrestlers place in the top four and those wrestlers will now advance to the State Qualifier Tournament. Lukas Hanssen took 2nd while Brent Bachman was 3rd. Brandon Alt, James Brady, DJ Gardner and Hayden Hathaway were all 4th. Harrison Flint and Amos Andrews placed 5th while Erik Herian and Kyle Herian were both 6th.
The State Qualifier will take place on Sunday, February 10 at the University of Buffalo at 8:00 am.
Alt And Gardner Crowned N-O League Champions

BARKER -- On Saturday the Wrestling team hosted the 47th annual Niagara-Orleans All-League Championship. Brandon Alt and DJ Gardner claimed individual championships for the Raiders. Alt won three matches throughout the day. The first match by pin, then a 13-0 major decision in the semi-finals and a dominating 16-0 technical fall in the finals. Gardner was an unseeded wrestler going into the tournament who beat the 1st and 4th seed by a major decision and pinned the 2nd seed in the finals.
Brent Bachman also had an impressive day by placing second. Dillon Mangan and Lukas Hanssen placed third for the Raiders while Hayden Hathaway placed fourth. The team was also recognized as the league sportsmanship team with Brandon Alt being the individual winner of the award.

BARKER -- Wednesday night the Wrestling team dropped their last league dual meet of the season to Newfane by a score of 50-21. Brandon Alt and Lukas Hanssen finished their home dual meet careers with wins. Alt won an 8-3 decision while Hanssen won by pin. Johnathan Page won his match by pin. Brent Bachman and Hayden Hathaway won their matches by decision. James Brady won his JV match by pin.
The team will compete at home one last time this season on Saturday in the Niagara Orleans League Tournament which begins at 9:00 am. The Raiders are on the road Thursday for matches at Holley at 6:00 pm.

DEPEW -- On Saturday the Wrestling team competed in the Depew Dual Meet Tournament. The Raiders picked up one win against St. Mary’s. Lukas Hanssen, Brandon Alt, Brent Bachman, Harrison Flint and Hayden Hathaway each had four wins throughout the day. Daniel Gardner picked up three wins while Jonathan Page and Kyle Herian both had two wins.

BARKER -- Wednesday night the Wrestling team started their league schedule with a 55-30 loss against Medina. Brent Bachman, Daniel Gardner, Amos Andrews, Kyle Herian and Brandon Alt all won their matches by pin. James Brady and Erik Herian won their JV matches by pin.

Hanssen Wastes No Time In Pinning Opponent

LYNDONVILLE -- Tuesday night the Wrestling team won their second dual meet of the season with a 42-36 victory over Lyndonville. Lukas Hanssen led the way for the Raiders with a pin in 1:44. Harrison Flint, Daniel Gardner, Johnathan Page, Brandon Alt, Kyle Herian and Kirk Fay received forfeits.

BUFFALO -- Wednesday night the Wrestling team started the season with a 48-36 win over Canisius. The Raiders picked up pins from Brent Bachman, Harrison Flint, Hayden Hathaway, DJ Gardner, Dillon Mangan, Brandon Alt and Kyle Herian. Lukas Hanssen received a forfeit and Jeremy Allen won his JV match by pin.
Blackley Takes First Match At States With Pin

ALBANY -- Over the weekend Austin Blackley wrestled in the 50th Annual New York State Wrestling Championships hosted by the Times Union Center in Albany. Blackley is the third wrestler in Barker history to wrestle in the state tournament. He won his first match with a pin in one minute and 35 seconds. Blackley then lost two close decisions to wrestlers from Section 5 and Section 3. Congratulations go out to Blackley on a great season.

East Aurora -- On Saturday the Wrestling team travelled to East Aurora for the State Qualifier Tournament. Austin Blackley earned a Section 6 Championship and a trip to the State Tournament in Albany by winning the 220 pound weight class. Blackley pinned his first opponent in 2:04, then earned a hard fought 8-6 decision in his semi-finals match. Blackley then won the championship match with a 6-3 decision. He also picked up his 30th win of the season in his finals match.
Derek Fuerch also had a great tournament by placing 6th in the 170 pound weight class. Fuerch had three wins at the tournament, which gave him 33 wins for the season and 138 career wins. Brandon Alt and Lukas Hanssen also wrestled solid matches at the tournament.

Raiders Send Four Wrestlers To State Qualifiers

MAYVILLE -- The Wrestling team participated in the Section 6 Class D Tournament at Chautauqua Lake High School over the weekend. The team placed seventh out of 12 teams by scoring 110.5 team points. Highlighting the weekend was Austin Blackley winning his first Section 6 Class D Championship. Blackley won the 220 pound weight class by pinning his first opponent and then took a major decision in his finals match. Derek Fuerch and Lukas Hanssen both had a great weekend by placing second for the Raiders. Brandon Alt and Nicholas Bachman placed 3rd in their respective weight classes. Codi McKee also had a great tournament by placing 5th. Blackley, Fuerch, Hanssen and Bachman will move onto the State Qualifier Tournament this Saturday.

Austin Blackley captured his second league championship by pinning his way through the 220 pound weight class. Derek Fuerch won his first crown by winning the 170 pound weight class. Codi McKee, Brandon Alt and Nicholas Bachman placed third in their respective weight classes. Dillon Mangan and Lukas Hanssen placed fourth for the Raiders. Also having a solid day was Jed Platt by winning two matches.

WILSON -- Wednesday night the Wrestling team dropped a close dual meet to Wilson by a final score of 38-30. Derek Fuerch and Brandon Alt picked up first period pins for the Raiders. Dillon Mangan and Nicholas Bachman both wrestled great matches and won by two points. Hayden Hathaway and Austin Blackley received forfeits. Also wrestling solid matches for the Raiders were Harrison Flint, Daniel Gardner, Jed Platt, Johnathan Page, Amos Andrews and Codi McKee. Morgan Fay won his JV match by pin.

Seniors Honored Prior To Last Home Wrestling Meet

BARKER -- Wednesday night the wrestling team finished their home dual meet schedule with a 46-33 loss to Albion. The wrestling team honored their four seniors: Jed Platt, Codi McKee, Derek Fuerch and Austin Blackley. Platt, Fuerch and Blackley won their matches by pin. Lukas Hanssen won his match with a 4-2 decision. Harrison Flint and Brandon Alt received forfeits for the Raiders.

LOCKPORT -- Over the weekend the Wrestling team competed in the Lockport Tournament. Leading the way for the Raiders were Derek Fuerch and Austin Blackley. Fuerch had three victories over the two days to win the 170 pound weight class. Blackley had two victories and won the pound weight class. Brandon Alt placed third in the 182 pound weight class. James Brady placed third in the 285 pound weight class in the JV tournament.

Wrestlers Have Big Rally Against Akron

BARKER -- On Wednesday night the Wrestling team won a thrilling dual meet against the Akron Tigers. The Raiders were behind 30-3 after six matches, but stormed back to win 43-36. Dillon Mangan, Amos Andrews, Codi McKee, Brandon Alt and Lukas Hanssen all picked up pins for the Raiders. Derek Fuerch won by major decision with a score of 9-0. Daniel Gardner and Austin Blackley received forfeits.

Fuerch And Blackley Have Solid Performances at NCCC

SANBORN -- Over the weekend the Wrestling team competed in the 31st Annual Niagara Frontier Wrestling Officials Tournament. There were a total of 36 teams competing at the tournament with Barker finishing in 28th place. The weekend was highlighted by two individuals placing in the top eight. Austin Blackley took third by wining four matches, three of which came by pin. Blackley defeated two of the three ranked wrestlers from Section 6 that he faced. Derek Fuerch placed 7th by winning four matches in a very tough 170 pound weight class that included three wrestlers who placed in a New York State meet, four who are ranked in Section 6 and three ranked wrestlers from Section 5. Fuerch has 19 wins and Blackley has 18 so far this season.

BARKER -- Wednesday night the Wrestling team defeated the Pembroke Dragons by a score of 54-6. Leading the way for the Raiders was Derek Fuerch who pinned his opponent in 59 seconds. The pin was also Fuerch’s 69th career pin, which is a new school record. Harrison Flint, Hayden Hathaway, Dillon Mangan, Tom Keska, Amos Andrews, Codi McKee, Austin Blackley and Nicholas Bachman received forfeits for the Raiders.

The day was very successful as the Raiders placed fourth out of 12 teams, which is the highest the team has ever placed at their own tournament. Individually, Austin Blackley and Lukas Hanssen captured first place in their respective weight classes. Blackley and Hanssen become the first Barker wrestlers to win the Round Robin Tournament.
