Hefferon Drills Game Sealing 3 Pointer

February 13, 2024

MEDINA -- The Varsity Basketball team secured its 5 league win of the season on Tuesday night after defeating Medina. The Bulldogs started the game on fire - shooting 8 for 19 from behind the 3 point arc in the first half, while holding the Mustangs to only 23 points.

Medina came back to tie the game in the 4th quarter, but a late 3 by Donovan Hefferon would seal the deal.

Logan Murrell had game-high honors with 19 points, including 5 threes. Luey Castro had 15 points to go with 12 rebounds. Aidan Mescall netted 10 points and added 7 assists. Owen Harris canned 11 points, and Hefferon added 9.

The Bulldogs will celebrate their three seniors on Thursday night at home against Roy-Hart.


Bulldogs Pull Off Dramatic OT Win At Roy-Hart

MIDDLEPORT -- On Friday, Barker outlasted host Roy-Hart, 64-61, in overtime. Owen Harris made two clutch free throws for Barker to tie the score at 59 and send the contest into overtime. The Bulldogs again knotted the game at 61 in overtime on a pair of free throws by Luey Castro, and then claimed the stunning victory on a three-pointer by Logan Murrell.

Castro finished with a game-high 31 points and 13 rebounds, and Donovan Hefferon added 11. Isaac Monaco netted 9, Aidan Mescall 6, Harris 4, and Murrell 3.


Murrell Nets 13 in Victory Over Lakemen

WILSON -- The Varsity Boys Basketball team was able to get their first league win on Thursday night against a very tough Wilson team, 53-47. It was a balanced attack on offense with Luey Castro leading the team with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Logan Murrell had 13 points, Isaac Monaco 12, Aidan Mescall 9 and Owen Harris 5.

BARKER -- The Varsity Boys Basketball team got their first win of the season on Wednesday night against the Alden Bulldogs. It was a team effort as the boys had to battle back from a 5-point 3rd quarter deficit by scoring 26 points in the 4th quarter.

Luey Castro and Aidan Mescall led the team with 24 points each. Castro added 12 rebounds and Mescall was 6 of 8 from three-point range. Isaac Monaco chipped in with 13 points.

The Bulldogs will look for another win Friday as they travel to Lyndonville.

 

Cantrell & Castro Each Pour In 20 Points At Alden

December 8, 2022

ALDEN -- The Varsity Boys Basketball team traveled to Alden on Thursday night and won their 2nd game of the season. The Raiders started the game strong, leading 9-0 within the first couple minutes of the game. A big second quarter scoring burst of 17 points while only allowing 1 point proved to be just what they needed as they went into halftime with a 33-10 lead. The boys never looked back and went on to win 71-46. 

Brad Cantrell scored 22 and Luis Castro 20 to lead the way for Barker. Aidan Mescall added 13, Aidan Voss 7, Dawson Donovan 6, and Jordan Leising 3. Also playing great defense were Tim Dent, Cam Hefferon, Mason Allee Castro, and Tommy Harris. All members of the team helped contribute to the win.

After a long two weeks of traveling, you can finally catch the boys at home on Monday, December 12th in their home opener against Bryon-Bergen.


Mescall Nets 21 Points In Second Half At Elba

MIDDLEPORT -- The Boys basketball team won on Thursday night 68-52 and earned their first win of the season in a very physical game against Elba. Trailing 22-20 at the half, the boys rallied to outscore Elba 48-30 in the second half. Aidan Mescall scored 21 of his game-high 24 points in the second half. Aidan Voss netted all 11 of his points in the second half while Brad Cantrell had 7 of his 18 and Luey Castro had 7 of his 14. Castro finished with his second double-double of the season by adding 11 rebounds to his 14 points.

 

Sullivan's Late Basket Seals Victory For Raiders At Holley

HOLLEY -- Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Basketball team on their win over Holley on Wednesday night. Austin Sullivan’s basket in the final minute of played sealed the victory for the Raiders. Double digit scorers on the night included Sullivan with 15 points, Dan Ober with 13 points, and Malik Smith chipped in 11 points.

 

Luckman Earns Several Postseason Honors

BARKER -- Congratulations to Nate Luckman on being named 2nd Team All-State Class C by the New York State Sportswriters Association. Luckman was also received All Western New York Honorable Mention recognition from The Buffalo News. Orleans Hub also recognized Luckman as one of the best in the area with it's postseason All Area Team. TheViewFromCenterCourt.com placed Luckman on it's Honorable Mention All-Centercourt Team. The Niagara-Orleans League also acknowledged Luckman's accomplishments with a 1st Team selection. Great job Nate!

 


Raiders Win On Senior Night While Luckman Hits 1,000 Point Mark

February 16, 2017

BARKER -- On Thursday night, the Varsity Boys Basketball team finished the regular season on senior night with a 55-45 victory over Niagara-Orleans League rival, Roy-Hart. Nate Luckman led the way with 25 points. Eddie Wasnock and Jake Arnold both chipped in 11. Ryan Voss hit two 3 point baskets early in the game to contribute 6 points, while Shawn Callaghan had a big bucket off his own rebound late in the game. It was a great team effort by the boys and all the seniors are to be congratulated. 

Nate Luckman secured his place in school history as he became the 4th basketball player to reach 1,000 points in a career. Luckman earned the milestone mark late in the 2nd quarter by sinking a foul shot. Luckman is also the school's leading 3 point shooter of all time with 170 career makes from beyond the arc.

The boys will participate in postseason play next week as a #6 seed. They will travel to #3 Holland to compete in the Section VI Class C-2 playoffs. Game time is 7:00 PM.

 

Luckman Sets School Record With Eight 3's

January 13, 2017

On Friday night, the Barker Raiders Boys’ Varsity Basketball team improved to 3-1 in league play with a 70-61 victory over the Albion Purple Eagles. Nate Luckman set another school record with 8 three point shots made in a game. Luckman had a total of 34 points and 13 rebounds. Eddie Wasnock had 18 points, Jake Arnold 10, and Malik Smith and Austin Sullivan contributed 4 points each.

The Raiders will travel to Medina on Tuesday night to face the Mustangs.

 

Arnold's Late Shot Wins Game 

January 5, 2017

BARKER -- With the game clock ticking down, Barker’s Jake Arnold hit a 3 point shot at the buzzer to give the Raiders a 56-54 victory over the Wilson Lakemen in Boys Varsity Basketball action on Thursday night. Arnold totaled 16 points on the night. Nate Luckman had 20, Eddie Wasnock chipped in with 14 and Austin Sullivan added 6 points.

The Raiders improved to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in league play.

 

Wasnock Propels Raiders To 4-0 With Fourth Double-Double 

December 9, 2016

BARKER -- The Boys Varsity Basketball team improved to 4-0 on Friday night with a win over Notre Dame. Scorers on the evening were: Nate Luckman with 22 points, Eddie Wasnock 14, Jake Arnold pitched in 11, Austin Sullivan netted 8, Malik Smith 4, and Shawn Callaghan added a point. Wasnock recorded his 4th straight double-double adding 10 rebounds and Jake Arnold also had a double-double with 13 rebounds.

The boys played great team defense as well. The Raiders will host Lyndonville on Tuesday. The JV’s will play at 5:00 and the Varsity game will follow.

 

Arnold Scores 13 In League Opening Win

BARKER -- The Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the Akron Tigers in the league opener by a score of 56-45 in the Raider Dome on Tuesday night. Nate Luckman led the team in scoring with 19 points, while Jake Arnold had 13, Eddie Wasnock 12, Kyle Moeller and Shawn Callaghan each scored 4 points, and Austin Sullivan and Malik Smith each scored a basket.

The boys will host Notre Dame on Friday. The JV game will start at 5:00.

 

Luckman Becomes Barker's All Time 3 Point Leader 

December 2, 2016

KENDALL -- The Varsity Boys Basketball team defeated the Kendall Eagles on Friday night, 77-41. Nate Luckman led all scorers with 23 points and Eddie Wasnock had his second straight double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Also earning their way in the scoring column was Jake Arnold and Austin Sullivan each with 11, Malik Smith had 7, Kyle Moeller and Devon Mangan each had 4, and Shawn Callaghan and Evan Ecker each chipped in 2 points.

Congratulations to Nate Luckman as he became the all time leading 3 point shooter in school history with five 3 point baskets on Friday night  to bring his career total to 110 3 pointers. 2015 graduate, Christopher Sweeney previously held the record with 105. 

The boys will host Akron on Tuesday and Notre Dame on Friday.  

 

Raiders Rally In Final Minute To Grab Season Opening Win 

November 29, 2016

ALEXANDER -- The Barker Raiders Varsity Boys’ Basketball team rallied from a five-point deficit with less than a minute to go to defeat Alexander 63-59 last night in the season opener. Senior Nate Luckman led all scorers with 30 points, including six 3-point baskets. Other scorers on the night included, Eddie Wasnock with 16 points and 10 rebounds, Austin Sullivan scored 8 points including 2 free throws to seal the victory, Jake Arnold scored 4, Shawn Callaghan had 3, and Kyle Moeller chipped in two points.

It was an outstanding team effort. The boys will host Kendall this Friday.

 

Snell Closes Out Basketball Career

ALBION -- Congratulations to Mike Snell his outstanding performance this past weekend in the Exceptional Senior Basketball Game between the Genesee Region and Niagara-Orleans League teams. Snell concluded his basketball career representing Barker with a great deal of pride and class and chipped in 8 points which helped the N-O team earn a victory.

Post Season Play Set To Begin For Raiders

MIDDLEPORT -- On Thursday night, the Varsity Boys Basketball team was defeated by Roy-Hart, 57-36. Offensively, Nate Luckman led the team in scoring with 17 points. Mike Snell contributed with 11 points. Defensively, Snell, Jake Arnold, and Shawn Callaghan played well.

The Raiders will now enter sectional play and will travel to Randolph High School to take on the Cardinals on Friday, February 19th at 7:00 PM.

 

Raiders Creep Towards .500 Mark In League Play

NEWFANE -- Tuesday evening, the Varsity Boys Basketball team defeated Newfane, 60-59, and improved their league record to 6-7. Leading the Raiders offensively were Nate Luckman with 21 points, Mike Snell with 9 points, and Jake Arnold and Eddie Wasnock with 8 points apiece. Arnold, Snell, and Shawn Callaghan led an impressive night defensively in which all players contributed to the effort.

The next game is Thursday night at Roy-Hart.

 

Luckman's Hits Buzzer Beater For Barker Victory

February 4, 2016

BARKER -- Thursday night, the Varsity Boys Basketball team defeated Wilson, 59-58. Trailing by 2 with 1.3 seconds left in the game, Nate Luckman hit a buzzer-beating 3 point shot to win the game for the Raiders. Mike Snell shared game-high honors with 19 points while Luckman scored 14 points and Eddie Wasnock chipped in with 12 points.

The team's defensive effort was solid throughout the game and was highlighted by Snell, Jake Arnold, and Shawn Callaghan.

The next game is on Tuesday, February 9th, on the road against the Newfane Panthers. Varsity tip off follows the JV game which begins at 5:00 PM.

 

Luckman Drops 40 On CSAT 

January 26, 2016

BARKER -- Tuesday night, the Varsity Boys Basketball team posted their 4th league win of the season with a 75-71 decision over visiting CSAT. Offensively, Nate Luckman led the Raiders with a game-high 40 points while Eddie Wasnock and Mike Snell chipped in with 12 apiece. Snell and Luckman had great all around games.

Defensively, the team was led by Jake Arnold, Jared Ginther, and Kyle Secore.

The Raiders league record improved to 4-6 with the win. The next game will be Friday evening at Lyndonville. 

 

Wasnock Scores Game High 22 

January 19, 2016

BARKER -- The Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the Akron Tigers on Tuesday night 65-31. Eddie Wasnock led the way with a game-high 22 points, while Nate Luckman poured in 17. Ryan Voss brought the crowd to its feet with a 4th quarter 3-pointer. Jake Arnold and Jared Ginther had great all-around games while Derek Uschold, Devon Managan, and Mike Snell were great on the defensive end.

The Raiders will be back in action this Friday as they go on the road to take on the Medina Mustangs.

 

Big Night For Luckman And Raiders

January 12, 2016

BARKER -- Tuesday night the Varsity Boys Basketball team defeated Newfane, 72-68, in exciting fashion. Leading the team offensively were Nate Luckman with a game high 28 points, Kyle Secore with 15 points, and Eddie Wasnock and Mike Snell with 13 points apiece. Eddie Wasnock and Jared Ginther had great all around games. Mike Snell drew a charge to lead the team defensively.

The next game is Thursday night at home against Roy-Hart.

 

Varsity Basketball Team Drops Decision At CSAT 

December 22, 2015

BARKER -- Tuesday night, the Varsity Boys Basketball team was defeated by CSAT, 56-40. Nate Luckman led the team offensively with a game high 14 points while Eddie Wasnock added 11. Defensively, the team was led by Jake Arnold, Jared Ginther, and Mike Snell.

The next game is on Wednesday, December 30 at home against the Pembroke Dragons at 6:30. 

 

Raiders Rally From Halftime Deficit 

December 16, 2015

AKRON -- Wednesday evening, the Varsity Boys Basketball team defeated Akron, 43-34. Trailing by 4 points at halftime, the team picked up the intensity and defensive effort to outscore the Tigers 26-13 in the 2nd half. 7 players scored for Barker. Offensively, Nate Luckman led the team with 12 points while Eddie Wasnock scored 10 and Jared Ginther chipped in with 8.

Jake Arnold, Shawn Callaghan, and Mike Snell played well defensively.

With the win, the Raiders are 1-0 in league play and 2-3 overall. The next game is Friday night at home against Medina.

 

Wasnock Scores 13 Versus Hornets

BARKER -- Monday night the Varsity Boys Basketball lost a highly competitive game to Oakfield-Alabama, 50-43. Leading the Raiders offensively were Eddie Wasnock with 13 points while Jake Arnold and Kyle Secore each scored 8 points. Arnold, Nate Luckman, and Wasnock had great all-around games. Mike Snell and Shawn Callaghan played well defensively.

The next game is Wednesday evening at Akron High School versus the Tigers. 

 

Luckman Pours In 25

BERGEN -- Saturday afternoon, the Varsity Boys Basketball team was defeated by Byron-Bergen, 53-42. Nate Luckman led the team in scoring with 25 points while Eddie Wasnock scored 9 points. Defensively, the Raiders were led by  Mike Snell, Jake Arnold, and Devon Mangan.

The Raiders now stand at 1-2 and will host Oakfield-Alabama on Monday night at 6:30 PM.

 

Raiders Open Season With Victory At Kendall

December 1, 2015

KENDALL -- The Barker Varsity Boys Basketball team, under the leadership of first year coach Joshua Kraft, started off the season with an impressive road win over Kendall 53-42. Defensively, Mike Snell, Jacob Arnold, and Devon Mangan were solid all night by continually providing great energy, hustle, muscle, and intensity. Leading the way offensively for the Raiders was Nate Luckman with 17 points and Eddie Wasnock with 14 points.
 

 

Seniors Honored Over Break 

February 19, 2015

BARKER -- Over break, seniors Josh Mead, Tom Callaghan, Sean Benoit, Tristan Payne, Tanner Gregoire, and Christopher Sweeney took to their home floor for one last time on their senior night. The boys played excellent together and the Raiders defeated the Roy-Hart Rams 59-48.

The boys will travel on Friday, February 27 to Tapestry Charter School for a 7:00 pm sectional game. 

 

3 Raiders Hit Double Digits At Albion 

February 10, 2015

ALBION -- The Boys Varsity Basketball traveled to Albion on Tuesday night and lost 64-55 to the Purple Eagles. Double digit scorers for the Raiders included Christopher Sweeney with 17, Tom Callaghan scored 15, and Josh Mead added 12 points.

The boys will travel to Akron on Thursday. 

 

Raiders Start Strong Against Medina 

February 3, 2015

BARKER -- The Varsity Boys Basketball team got off to a great start in the first half of Tuesday night's game, but Medina came back and defeated the Raiders 54-65. Double digit scorers on the night included Christopher Sweeney with 12 points and Tom Callaghan with 16 points.

The boys will travel to CSAT on Friday. 

 

Payne Uses 3 Ball For Game High Honors

January 29, 2015 

BARKER -- The Boys Varsity Basketball team battled back in the 4th quarter of Thursday night's contest against CSAT, but came up short. Tristan Payne shared game high honors with his 18 points which came off of 6 three point baskets. Tom Callaghan also scored double digits with 14 on the night.

The boys will host Medina on Tuesday. 

 

Big Fourth Quarter For Luckman

January 23, 2015

MIDDLEPORT -- The Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the Roy-Hart Rams on Friday night by a score of 63-57. Statistical leaders on the night included Christopher Sweeney with 8 points and 10 rebounds, Tom Callaghan added 10 points, and Nate Luckman led the Raiders in scoring with 24 points. 16 of Luckman's points came in the 4th quarter.

The boys will host CSAT on Thursday. 

 

Callaghan Nets 21 In Loss 

January 20, 2015

NEWFANE -- Down by 16 points going in to the 4th quarter, the Varsity Boys Basketball team used a full court press to battle back and bring the game within 2 points with a minute to go against the Newfane Panthers on Tuesday night. Although in the end the boys fell short, losing to the Panthers 61-55, they gave a tremendous team effort and had some excellent individual performances. Tom Callaghan led all scorers with 21 points and Christopher Sweeney added 10 points.

The boys will travel to Roy-Hart on Friday.  

 


Sweeney Has Game High 14 At Pembroke
December 9, 2014
PEMBROKE -- Tuesday night the Boys' Varsity Basketball team defeated the Pembroke Dragons by a score of 49-41. Christopher Sweeney led in scoring with a game high 14 points. Josh Mead helped the Raiders escape a comeback by the Dragons by scoring 7 of his 11 points in the 4th quarter.

Nate Luckman, Kyle Secore, Mike Snell, Tristan Payne, Tanner Gregoire, Tom Callaghan, and Sean Benoit also contributed in the win with their outstanding play on defense.

The Raiders will travel to Oakfield-Alabama next Monday, December 15.


Varsity Boys Basketball Drops Opener To Kendall
December 5, 2014
BARKER -- On Friday night, the Barker Raiders Varsity Boys Basketball team lost to the Kendall Eagles 63-55. Nate Luckman led the Raiders in scoring with 15 points. Christopher Sweeney also scored double digits with 11 points and chipped in with 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

The boys will travel to Pembroke on December 9 for a 6:30 Varsity start time.

ALBION -- Congratulations to the following Exceptional Senior All-Star players on finishing their basketball careers with a win: Mitchell Luckman, Bryce Moeller, Hayden Gooding, and Jacob Haight. After the boys pregame dunk contest, highlighted by Barker's Jacob Haight, Mitchell Luckman, and Bryce Moeller, the boys game got underway. The N-O Boys All-Stars defeated the G-R All-Stars by a score of 96-77. Luckman took game high honors with 18 points while Haight had 11, Moeller 4, and Gooding 2. The boys represented Barker very well and made the Barker faithful in attendance proud.

Luckman Drains 21 In Season Ending Loss To Silver Creek

JAMESTOWN -- The Boys Varsity Basketball season ended on Monday night with a 62-48 loss to Silver Creek in the Section VI Class C1 Semi Finals at Jamestown Community College. Mitchell Luckman was the high scorer with 21 points while Jacob Haight added 13 points. 
 
Congratulations to the team on a historic 18-0 regular season and on winning the school's first league championship in 36 years. The team has made the school and community very proud of you. Best of luck to seniors Tyler Dent, Hayden Gooding, Jacob Haight, Mitchell Luckman, Bryce Moeller, and Jarid Worthington. The efforts and leadership of these six will be missed.
 
 
Raiders Headed To Jamestown For Semi Finals

BARKER -- The Boys Varsity Basketball team improved to 19-0 with a 77-38 win over the Porrtville Panthers on Friday night in the Section VI Class C1 Quarter Finals. Double digit scorers for the Raiders included Jacob Haight with 17 points, Bryce Moeller netted 14 points, Christopher Sweeney dropped in 11, and Mitchell Luckman notched 10. Other scorers on the night included Michael Snell, Joshua Mead, Hayden Gooding, Nathan Luckman, Tanner Gregoire, and Thomas Callaghan.
 
The #1 seeded Raiders will travel to Jamestown Community College on Monday to play the #4 seeded Silver Creek Black Knights. Tip-off is at 6:00 pm. Admission to the game is $5.00 for all spectators as it is a semi final sectional game.
 
 
Raiders Complete Perfect Regular Season

ALBION -- Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Basketball team on their perfect 18-0 regular season. In the final regular season game the Raiders defeated the Albion Purple Eagles by a score of 81-52. Scoring for the Raiders were as follows: Jacob Haight 21, Christopher Sweeney 20, Bryce Moeller 14, Mitchell Luckman 11, Tristan Payne 3, Sean Benoit 3, Hayden Gooding 3, Tyler Dent 2, Joshua Mead 2, and Thomas Callaghan 2. This is the first undefeated season for a Boys Basketball team in school history!
 
 
Luckman Hits For Game High 22 At Roy-Hart

MIDDLEPORT -- The Boys' Varsity Basketball team came out on fire, scoring 34 points in the first quarter at Roy-Hart on Tuesday night. Senior captains Mitchell Luckman and Jacob Haight led the charge in the first quarter. Luckman scored 12 of his game high 22 and Haight scored 10 of his 20 in the opening quarter. Barker went on to defeat the Rams 83-46 to stay perfect at 17-0. 
 
Other scorers for the Raiders included Christopher Sweeney, Joshua Mead, Hayden Gooding, Bryce Moeller, Tristan Payne, Tanner Gregoire, and Thomas Callaghan. The boys will travel to Albion for a 5:30 JV start on Thursday to close out Niagara-Orleans League play.
 
 
Raiders Crowned Niagara-Orleans League Champions

BARKER -- Thursday night the Boys' Varsity Basketball team clinched their first league championship in 35 years with a 64-34 victory over the Wilson Lakemen. The Raiders are now 16-0 overall. Tristan Payne came off the bench to spark the Raiders hitting 2 of his 3 three pointers in the first quarter. Jacob Haight scored 9 of his game high 15 points in the 3rd quarter during Barker's 18-10 run on Wilson. Bryce Moeller and Mitch Luckman were also double-digit scorers.
 
The members of the 2013-14 Niagara-Orleans Championship team also include Christopher Sweeney, Joshua Mead, Tyler Dent, Hayden Gooding, Jarid Worthington, Tanner Gregoire, Thomas Callaghan, and Sean Benoit. The team has two remaining league games that are both on the road - Tuesday, February 11 at Roy-Hart and Thursday, February 13 at Albion.
 
 
Raiders Clinch At Least A Tie For League Title

BARKER -- Congratulations to the Boys' Varsity Basketball team on a 42-39 victory over the Medina Mustangs. With the win, the 15-0 Raiders secured at least part of the Niagara-Orleans Championship. This is the first Boys Basketball championship since 1978. Jacob Haight was the high scorer for the Raiders with 19 points. Also scoring was Mitchell Luckman, Hayden Gooding, Bryce Moeller, and Jarid Worthington.
 
The boys will host Wilson on Thursday for a 5:00 pm JV start.

BARKER -- The Boys' Varsity Basketball team improved to 14-0 on Friday night with a 68-42 victory over CSAT. Game high honors went to Jacob Haight with 24 points. Mitchell Luckman, Bryce Moeller, and Christopher Sweeney were also double-digit scorers.
 
The boys will host 2nd place Medina on Tuesday, which is also Senior Night. The senior recognition will take place just following the JV game and before the warm-ups of the Varsity game. The JV Game will start at 5:00 pm.
 
 
Haight Becomes All Time Leading Scorer For Raiders

WILSON -- The Boys' Varsity Basketball team improved to 13-0 after defeating Wilson 56-34 on Wednesday night. Jacob Haight had game high honors scoring 22 points. Mitchell Luckman and Bryce Moeller each add 12 points.
 
Congratulations to Jacob Haight for becoming Barker's all-time leading scorer in the game against the Lakemen. Haight passed 1996 Barker graduate and current Niagara County Community College Men's Basketball Coach, Billy Beilein when he scored his 1198 career point. Haight's total stands at 1209 career points in his 4 years as a Varsity Basketball player.
 
The boys will host CSAT this Friday. The JV team will take the court at 4:30 pm with Varsity to follow.

BARKER -- Friday night the Boys' Varsity Basketball team defeated the Akron Tigers by a score of 66-36, Double-digit scorers were Jacob Haight, Bryce Moeller, and Mitchell Luckman. 
 
The boys record stands at 12-0. Next up for the Raiders is Wilson on Tuesday.

BUFFALO -- The Boys' Varsity Basketball team improved to 11-0 on Thursday night with a 61-49 road win at CSAT. Christopher Sweeney led all scorers with 18 points. Other double-digit scorers included Jacob Haight, Mitchell Luckman, and Bryce Moeller.
 
The boys will host Akron Friday night with a JV tip off at 5:00 pm.

BARKER -- The Boys Varsity Basketball team improved to 10-0 on Tuesday night with a 58-39 victory over the Newfane Panthers. Jacob Haight was the game's high scorer with 21 points and he also recorded 7 steals. Mitchell Luckman finished with 11 points and 7 assists. Christopher Sweeney had 10 points and 6 rebounds. Bryce Moeller was huge inside for the Raiders with 12 points, 9 blocked shots, and 7 rebounds. Hayden Gooding and Thomas Callaghan each had 2 points.
 
 
Haight Notches Second Triple Double

BARKER -- The Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the Albion Purple Eagles 74-61, on Friday night. Jacob Haight recorded another triple-double with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 steals. Jacob was 4 assists shy of basketball's greatest individual game achievement, a quadruple-double. Mitchell Luckman was two rebounds shy of recording his first ever triple-double. Luckman recorded 15 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds. Bryce Moeller continues to be the Niagara-Orleans League's most dominant center with 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Christopher Sweeney and Tristan Payne continue their outstanding outside shooting from beyond the arc. Sean Benoit and Tanner Gregoire played outstanding defense in the win. Hayden Gooding, Jarid Worthington, Thomas Callaghan, Joshua Mead, and Tyler Dent did an excellent job doing all the little things that led to the victory. 
 
The Raiders will defend their 9-0 record Tuesday night against the Newfane Panthers. JV starts at 5:00 pm with Varsity to follow.

BARKER -- The Barker Raiders defeated league rival Roy-Hart, 72-47 on Tuesday night. Mitchell Luckman had a game high 26 points with four 3-pointers, Christopher Sweeney had 18 points with three 3-pointers, and Jacob Haight had a triple-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 asists. Additional scorers for the Raiders were Hayden Gooding, Bryce Moeller, Jarid Worthington, and Tristan Payne.

BARKER -- The Barker Raiders Varsity Boys Basketball team improved to 4-0 on Monday night with a 67-31 victory over the Pembroke Dragons. Jacob Haight scored 18 points, Mitchell Luckman 17, and Christopher Sweeny 14 points. Sweeney drilled four 3-pointers all in the 2nd half.

Double digit scorers were Jacob Haight and Christopher Sweeney. Tristan Payne knocked down two 3-pointers for his second consecutive game. Bryce Moeller continues to be a presence in the middle with 4 blocked shots and 9 rebounds. Mitchell Luckman dished out 6 assists in the win.

BARKER -- Congratulations to Jacob Haight on becoming the 3rd player in Barker's history to score 1,000 career points. Haight accomplished the milestone by scoring a game high 21 points in a 77-47 victory over the Elba Lancers. Other double digit scorers were Mitchell Luckman with 14 points and Bryce Moeller with 12. BARKER -- Congratulations to the following Boys Varsity Basketball players that earned Niagara-Orleans League recognition for their play this past season: Jacob Haight (1st team All-League), Mitchell Luckman (2nd team All-League), Christopher Sweeney (Honorable Mention), and Brett Cole was named to the Exceptional Senior All-Star team. Cole will represent the Barker Raiders as a member of the Niagara-Orleans team.  The N-O League All-Stars will play the Genesee Region All-Stars on Friday, March 8 at 6:30 pm at Medina High School.

 

Raiders Hang Tough In Loss To Oracle

JAMESTOWN -- The Varsity Boys Basketball team finished their season on Wednesday night losing 71-57 to Oracle Charter in the Section VI Class C1 Semi Finals. Senior Brett Cole capped off his career with his best game of the season by scoring 11 points on the night. Jacob Haight, Christopher Sweeney, and Mitchell Luckman were also double digit scorers.  Congratulations to the team on an outstanding season.

 

Varsity Boys Basketball Team Headed To Sectional Semi Finals

February 20 & 22, 2013

Barker & Holland -- The Varsity Boys Basketball team played in two sectional games over mid-winter break. In the first game the boys defeated da Vinci 55-30 in front of our home crowd on Wednesday night. The Raiders got off to a great start outscoring da Vinci 23-2 in the first quarter.  Jacob Haight led all scorers with 19 points and Chandler Ruffini came off the bench to contribute a season high 8 points.

In the second game, Barker traveled to Holland on Friday where they defeated the #3 seeded Dutchmen 41-38. The sharp shooting beyond the arc of Christopher Sweeney and Mitchell Luckman, combined with the defensive play of Bryce Moeller and Brett Cole kept the Raiders in the game. With less than 30 seconds to go Jacob Haight hit a 12 foot jumper on the baseline to give Barker a 3 point lead. The boys played outstanding defense in the final possession to seal the victory.

The #6 seeded Raiders will travel to Jamestown Community College to play at the PHED Complex on Wednesday, February 27 for a 7:45 pm Semi-Final match-up against the #2 seed, Oracle Charter School.

 

Raiders Win Regular Season Finale

BARKER -- The Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated Albion on Thursday night by a score of 61-51. Scoring leaders for the Raiders included Jacob Haight with 19 points, Christopher Sweeney with 16, and senior Brett Cole with 8. Prior to the game Cole along with senior classmates Chandler Ruffini, Cort Schultz, Michael Hartman, and Joanna Larsen were recognized in a Senior Night ceremony.

The Raiders will host a sectional game on Wednesday, February 20 at 7:00 pm. The sectional game admission fee is $3.00.

MEDINA -- The Varsity Boys Basketball team defeated Medina 62-49 on Monday night. Double digit scorers for the Raiders were Jacob Haight, Christopher Sweeney and Bryce Moeller. Haight also tallied 15 rebounds while Mitch Luckman dished out 12 assists.

The boys will host Roy-Hart on Tuesday night. The JV Boys game starts at 5:00.

 

Fire And Ice Hit For 35 Points Against Wilson

BARKER -- The Varsity Boys Basketball team improved their record to 8-6 last night with a 57-45 win over Wilson. The Raiders were led by the dynamic duo of Jacob Haight and Mitchell Luckman . "Fire" and "Ice" combined for a total of 35 points. Haight got the Raiders rolling early by scoring all of his 16 points in the first half. Luckman sealed the victory by scoring 10 of his game high 19 points in the 4th quarter. Bryce Moeller, Christopher Sweeney, and Brett Cole also scored in the victory.

The boys will travel to CSAT on Tuesday.

 

Great Defensive Effort Propels Raiders To Victory In Albion

ALBION -- The Boys Varsity Basketball team put together a great defensive effort in the second half of Tuesday night's game and as a result they defeated Albion 66-47. Mitchell Luckman led all scorers for the Raiders with 22 points. Also scoring in double figures was Jacob Haight with 21 points and Christopher Sweeney with 10. Brett Cole, Bryce Moeller, Hayden Gooding, and Cort Schultz also scored in the win.

ELBA -- Both the JV and Varsity Boys Basketball teams improved their records to 4-0 with wins over the Elba Lancers on Tuesday night. The Varsity team was led by a trio of double digit scorers: Jacob Haight had 40 points, Mitchell Luckman with 21 and Christopher Sweeney with 14. Haight grabbed 20 rebounds while Luckman went 9 of 11 from the charity stripe and Sweeney hit for two threes.

The boys will open up their league schedule at home on Thursday against the Newfane Panthers who are the defending league co-champions. The JV game will start at 5:00 pm.


Howes Hits For 9 Against Albion

BARKER-- The Barker Boys Varsity Basketball team picked up a great team win last night against visiting Albion. Every player played a pivotal role in the 58-45 victory. Jake Haight led the Raiders with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Josh Haight contributed 13 points. Brett Cole kept his motor running all night and was constantly making plays at the defensive end. Christopher Sweeney knocked down some key buckets with a great night of shooting and Mitch Luckman provided some nice assists on the offensive end. Luckman also played solid defense throughout the game and Justin Howes had a season high 9 points making it rain from behind the 3 point arc. Jimmy Crast sank two free throws and provided great hustle and muscle coming off the bench. Tony Diez provided great energy at both ends of the floor and Bryce Moeller made his long-awaited return to the team and made his presence known with a thundering block.

Overall, it was a great team performance and victory. Coach O'Sullivan would also like to give a shout out to the fans for their continued support and enthusiasm throughout the contest.

The Raiders next play on the road this Friday at Wilson as they look to avenge an earlier season loss.

 

Luckman Has Solid Game Against Medina

BARKER-- On Tuesday night the Varsity Boys Basketball team fell to visiting Medina in a hard fought contest. It was back and forth all night, but in the end the Raiders came up short in pursuit of their second league victory. Mitch Luckman had an outstanding game on both ends of the floor, contributing 10 points and dishing out numerous assists on the offensive end while playing great man defense throughout the game.

The Raiders will be back in action on Friday at home versus the visting Newfane Panthers.

 

Haight Hits Shot With 2.4 Left To Win At CSAT

BUFFALO-- On Friday the Barker Boys Varsity Basketball team picked up their first league win on the road as they defeated CSAT 62-60. In a thrilling and exciting game, Josh Haight was able to secure a rebound with 2.4 seconds left on the clock and lay it in to give the Raiders a dramatic victory. Justin Howes had 4 key points down the stretch while Tony Diez, Mitch Luckman, Jimmy Crast, and Christopher Sweeney all made great defensive stops throughout the game. The dynamic duo of Josh and Jake Haight led the way for the persistant and poised Raiders as Josh poured in 22 points to go along with his 10 rebounds and Jake dropped in 26 and while collecting 11 boards.

The Raiders are back in action this Tuesday night at home as they take on the visiting Medina Mustangs. It should be another epic contest.

 

Sweeney Makes Varsity Debut

BARKER-- The Barker Boys Varsity Basketball team came up short in their pursuit to get their first league victory as they dropped a decision to the visiting Wilson Lakemen on Tuesday night. The short handed Raiders put forth a valiant and spirted effort and competed every step of the way. Josh Haight led the Raiders with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Mitch Luckman contributed 11 points and had some great defensive steals. Christopher Sweeney, in his Varsity debut, played a stellar game and made his presence known throughout the contest. Sweeney contributed 11 points and was a great vocal leader on the floor.

The next game for the Raiders will be Friday Janurary 6th on the road at C.S.A.T.

 

Diez Scores 10 In Winter Classic

BARKER-- The Barker Varsity Boys Basketball team put in a workman like effort versus Christian Central Academy in the first round of the Barker Winter Classic, fell short of victory. The game was exciting from start to finish. Each time the Raiders got close, the Crusaders would continually knock down big shots to end the Barker rally. Josh Haight led the Raiders with 18 points, while Tony Diez added 10. Jake Haight added 10 to go along with his 11 rebounds.

The Raiders will look to get their first victory of the season on Thursday, December 22 against Lima Christain at 5:30 PM in the high school gym.

 

Another Pulse Pounding Game For Boys Varsity Basketball

BARKER-- The Boys Varsity Basketball team once again lost a pulse-pounding game. The boys built up a big lead early in the game, but saw it slowly evaporate. The team had a chance to win at the buzzer but a final shot fell short leaving Pembroke victorious, 56-54. Once again the brothers Haight led the way for the Raiders. Josh netted 22 points and had 10 boards, while Jake poured in 21 points and added 10 rebounds as well. Mr. O'Sullivan would like to thank the pumped up home crowd and the cheerleaders for their continued support throughout the wild and entertaining contest.

The next home game for the Raiders will be Tuesday, December 20th at 7:00 pm when they take on the Christian Central Academy Crusaders in the Barker Winter Classic.

 

Raiders Drop Opener To Elba

BARKER -- The Barker Varsity Boys Basketball team opened the season with a heartbreaking 56-54 loss to Section 5 opponent Elba. After falling behind early in the first quarter, things did not look good for the Raiders, but the boys stayed upbeat and worked their way back. The team clawed their way back into the contest displaying great tenacity for the final three quarters. Feeding off the support of the home crowd, the boys were able to tie the game late in the wild and entertaining fourth quarter. A basket by Elba with 10 seconds left in the ball game would seal the fate of the Raiders. Jake and Josh Haight led the way for the Raiders as Jake poured in 28 points to go with 11 rebounds, while Josh netted 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Mr. O'Sullivan would like to thank all of the young men for a great effort and all of the fans, especially the students for their support throughout the game.

The next home game will be on Friday, December 16th against Pembroke.
