Section VI SAAC Workshop

SAACSAAC (Student Athletic Advisory Committee) is composed of one male and one female athlete from each grade who has been identified as having potential leadership skills to serve as a liaison between our student-athletes and school administration. This year’s active members consist of:

  • Freshman - Drew LaGreca
  • Sophomores - Naomi Bish and Peyton Wagner
  • Juniors - Madelina Pavlock and Luke Fay
  • Seniors - Shelby Dauphinee and Michael Kalynycz (both completing their third and final year in the club)

On Thursday, March 20th, four members (L-R: Kalynycz, Wagner, Dauphinee, and LaGreca) of the Barker SAAC traveled to the PBS building in downtown Buffalo for their first annual Section VI workshop. SAAC meets three times a year with the other SAAC clubs in the Niagara-Orleans League, where they work on leadership skills and have the opportunity to network with their competitive peers within the league. However, this time, the Barker group had the chance to work with 120 students from 16 schools that represented all five leagues in Section VI. Included in the event were icebreaker activities, a number of guest speakers on various athletic topics, and an opportunity for some of the members to be interviewed to promote our clubs on X and even partake in shooting a commercial to be aired at a future date on PBS.

In May, the club will conclude the year with a community service project that is yet to be determined.
