Ella Gancasz was selected by Assemblyman Mike Norris to be the 2024 Memorial Day Poster Contest Winner for her talented and thoughtful interpretation of the theme "Freedom Isn't Free." Ella was presented with an official New York State Citation from Assemblyman Norris. The painting will be displayed in the State Legislative Office Building and Assemblyman Norris's district office.
Miss Feltz was also presented with a proclamation for her work supporting the Memorial Day Poster Contest over the years.
Two BCS teachers received special commendation from the New York State Assembly during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10). Mrs. Joy Dabill and Mrs. Jessica Monaco both received a New York State Assembly citation.
Mrs. Dabill is the 2024 Assemblyman Mike Norris Teacher Appreciation Week Award winner at the elementary level. Mrs. Dabill is a special education teacher at Barker Central School who services our students in grades 5 and 6. She truly goes above and beyond to meet the needs of all of the students in the classroom. Mrs. Dabill is a collaborative teammate and places students at the center of all she does. Her genuine care for each student’s success is inspiring!
Mrs. Monaco is the 2024 Assemblyman Mike Norris Teacher Appreciation Week Award winner at the Jr.-Sr. high level. Mrs. Monaco is a high school history, Participation in Government, and Economics teacher at Barker Central School. The relationships Mrs. Monaco forges with students profoundly impact their success. Mrs. Monaco works tirelessly to ensure students are prepared to be productive citizens and is leading the charge to create new history and social studies programming for our high school students. Her passion for developing life-long learners is impressive!
Assemblyman Mike Norris paid a visit to BCS on Monday, June 10th to present some well-deserved awards to members of the Barker staff. Teacher Appreciation Awards were presented to:
