Schaal Chips In With 8 Versus Akron

BARKER -- Despite a 20 point night from Anthony Taliaferro on Tuesday night, the Barker Varsity Bulldogs fell to the Akron Tigers, 60–47. Donovan Hefferon added 11 points and Keagan Schaal chipped in 8.

JJ Prynn had a strong all-around performance with 10 rebounds and a team-high 6 assists, helping Barker finish with 33 total rebounds and 16 assists on 19 made baskets.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday on the road against the Roy-Hart Rams. 

Hefferon Leads Bulldogs With 17

BARKER -- The Boys Varsity Basketball team put together a strong all-around effort but came up just short in a 64-59 loss to the Newfane Panthers on Tuesday. Donovan Hefferon led Barker with 17 points. JJ Prynn and Carter DerSarkissian each connected on multiple three-pointers, helping Barker shoot 7-of-14 (50%) from beyond the arc.

The Bulldogs also controlled the glass, finishing with 26 rebounds. Prynn, led the team with 7 boards and 6 assists. DerSarkissian added 13 points for the Bulldogs, Prynn finished with 9, Peyton Wagner scored 7, Anthony Taliaferro had 6, Carson Schwab added 4, and Keagan Schaal chipped in with 3.

Harris Leads Bulldogs With 18 Versus Roy-Hart

BARKER -- The Varsity Boys Basketball team beat Roy-Hart on Friday, 61-60. Owen Harris led the team with 18 points, 8 assists, and 6 steals.

Donovan Hefferon, with 14, and Logan Murrell, 13, both hit multiple 3’s.

Isaac Monaco chipped in with 7, Maico Vazquez netted 6, and JJ Prynn added 3 for the Bulldogs. 

Taliaferro Paces Bulldogs With 15 Points
January 8, 2025
ALDEN -- Anthony Taliaferro scored 15 points to lead Barker past Alden 55-42 on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs used a 12-2 run in the 1st quarter and never looked back. JJ Prynn, Owen Harris, and Logan Murrell all hit multiple 3’s for the team throughout the game. 

The Bulldogs were able to pull down 45 rebounds with Isaac Monaco grabbing 12. Murrell finished with 13 points, Harris had 10, Prynn notched 7, Hefferon canned 6, and Monaco added 4.

The next game is home on Friday against Wilson.

Taliaferro Cans 27 To Lead Way For Bulldogs

BARKER -- The Varsity Boys Basketball team improved to 3–3, with a convincing 67–44 non-league victory over visiting Cleveland Hill on Saturday afternoon. Anthony Taliaferro led all scorers with 27 points and also dominated the glass with 17 rebounds.

JJ Prynn added 11 points, while Peyton Wagner and Carter DerSarkissian chipped in 8 points each.

Carson Schwab scored 6, Donovan Hefferon and Caden Garcia each added 3, and Ashton Ark rounded out the scoring with 1.

After falling behind 6–2 early, the Bulldogs took control with a decisive 16–1 run, highlighted by 7 points from Taliaferro and 5 from Prynn, to seize the lead for good.

Barker led 18–10 after the first quarter and continued to build separation, taking a 38–24 advantage into halftime and extended the lead to 57–36 by the end of the third quarter. Taliaferro scored 10 points in the second quarter and 8 in the third, helping Barker maintain momentum on both ends of the floor.

Wagner Scores 12 Against Medina

BARKER -- On Thursday night, the Varsity Boys Basketball team opened N-O League play with a strong effort. The Bulldogs had a narrow loss, falling to Medina 70-66 in a highly competitive matchup.

Barker was led by Anthony Taliaferro, who turned in an outstanding performance with a game-high 26 points. Peyton Wagner added 12, Carter DerSarkissian scored 11, Donovan Hefferon contributed 9, and JJ Prynn chipped in 8.

Barker came out strong in the first quarter, using an 8-point burst from Taliaferro to take a 15–10 lead after the opening period.

The Bulldogs continued to compete with toughness on both ends, but Medina used a big second-quarter run to take a 36–27 lead into halftime.

Showing resilience, Barker clawed back in the third quarter—closing the gap to 49–45 behind scoring contributions from all five starters. DerSarkissian knocked down both a two and a three, while Wagner and Prynn each added a pair of baskets to fuel the rally.

In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs continued to battle. A 3 from Taliaferro cut the deficit to 57–54, and later a three-point play from Wagner brought Barker back within 68–65 in the final minutes, but Medina was able to hold on to the lead.

The Bulldogs showed grit, balance, and played with serious effort throughout the game, setting a positive tone for the season ahead.

Bulldogs Nail 10 Three Pointers In Win Over Lyndonville

BARKER -- The Barker Bulldogs Varsity Boys Basketball team opened their season with a 55–37 victory over Lyndonville. The win was fueled by 10 made three-pointers and a strong second-half surge.

Anthony Taliaferro led the way with 21 points, while Jackson Prynn added 12. Both players knocked down 4 threes each.

Additional scoring came from Donovan Hefferon (6), Carter DerSarkissian (5), Peyton Wagner (4), Carson Schwab (3). Dominic Cimato and Caden Garcia each added 2.

Barker held a 23–15 halftime lead and then broke the game open with an 18–5 third quarter, pushing the advantage to 41–20.

The Bulldogs are back in action at Attica on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
