Pierce & Kelemen Turn In Solid Performances At League Meet
February 13, 2025
NEWFANE -- On Wednesday, the Modified Swim team wrapped up the season with a league meet against the other 5 N-O League schools. It was a photo finish in the 200 Medley Relay as Joseph Janicki, Lilah Kelemen, Ayla Riches and Maylee Snyder were just out touched to finish 4th overall. In the 200 Free, Noralie Pierce set a fast pace and with a smooth stroke finished 3rd overall. Kelemen swam a great race in the 100 IM and finished with a close 4th place. Kelemen also had a 3rd place overall in the 50 Backstroke. Kolt Wilson took 3rd place in his heat of the Backstroke. Pierce had a great start with a powerful glide to finish 4th overall in the 50 Breaststroke. Stevie Lee swam fast in all of his races.

Snyder & Lee Have Personal Bests In 50 Free
February 10, 2025
BARKER -- On Monday, the Barker Modified Swim Team hosted Akron and Newfane. The team had a "totally awesome" meet against the visitors. The 200 Medley Relay of Joseph Janicki, Lilah Kelemen, Ayla Riches and Maylee Snyder started the meet with a 3rd place finish for Barker. Noralie Pierce represented her team well with a crowd cheering performance in the 200 Free. Pierce was just out touched in the race and took 2nd. Kelemen looked strong, taking 2nd place in the 100 IM. Janicki had a 3rd place finish in the fastest heat of the 50 Free. Snyder had a personal best time in her heat of the 50 Free and took 3rd. Stevie Lee also had a personal best time, dropping 2 seconds and taking 2nd place in his heat of the 50 Free. With a great start, Riches took 3rd place in the 100 Free. Pierce swam fast and was 2nd in the 50 Breaststroke.

Barker’s final meet of the season is on Wednesday at Newfane.

Pierce Wins 200 Free At Akron
February 8, 2025
AKRON -- Saturday, the Modified Swim Team swam hard at Akron against both Roy-Hart and the host Tigers. The official shared that Barker's swimmers "looked impressive" in all their races. The meet started with the 200 Medley Relay team of Joseph Janicki, Lilah Kelemen, Ayla Riches and Maylee Snyder taking 2nd place for Barker. Noralie Pierce swam a fast 8 laps in the 200 Freestyle and took another 1st in the event. Kelemen had a close race in the 100 IM, just getting out touched to finish 2nd. With a great start off the blocks, it was a photo finish race for Riches in the 100 Free as she sprinted to 5th place with all the swimmers coming to the wall at the same time. Kelemen had a great start and a strong 3rd place finish in the 50 Backstroke. Pierce dropped another 5 seconds off her time in the 50 Breaststroke and had a great race, taking 2nd. Janicki, Snyder, Stephen Lee and Pierce finished the meet with an exciting 3rd place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Barker’s next meet will be Monday, February 10th at home against Akron and Newfane.

Wilson Records Two 2nd Place Finishes

MEDINA -- The Modified Swim Team had an exciting meet against Medina and Newfane on Wednesday. Barker swimmers dug deep and swam fast. Noralie Pierce swam a great race in the 200 Freestyle, taking 2nd place and dropped another 5 seconds off her time. Lilah Kelemen made her race look easy, taking 2nd place in the 100 IM with her teammate Ayla Riches finishing a close 3rd. Joseph Janicki sprinted his way to a 1st place finish in his heat of the 50 Free. In the same race of the 50 Free, Maylee Snyder finished strong in 2nd place. Kolt Wilson swam fast in his heat of the 50 Free, taking 2nd. Riches took 3rd in the 100 Free. Janicki had a great race and finish, out-touching Medina for 1st in his heat of the 50 Backstroke. Stevie Lee had a personal best time in both his races of the 50 Free and 50 Backstroke. Pierce secured personal best times throughout the meet as she dropped 5 seconds in the 50 Breastroke while taking 2nd. The 200 Free Relay team of Wilson, Kelemen, Riches and Pierce ended the meet with an exciting 2nd place finish. 

Barker’s next meet is Saturday at Akron.

Riches Drops 6 Seconds Off IM Time
February 3, 2025
AKRON -- On Monday, the Modified Swim Team swam hard in their meet at Akron against Newfane, Albion, Medina and Roy-Hart. Barker swimmers had many personal best times.

Noralie Pierce had a 3rd place finish in the 200 Free, dropping 3 seconds for a personal best time. Ayla Riches finished 3rd in the 100 IM with 6 seconds off her time. Lilah Kelemen had a really close 2nd place finish in her heat of the 50 Free. In his heat of the 50 Backstroke, Kolt Wilson took 2nd place, as did Joey Janicki in his race of the 100 Backstroke. Stevie Lee swam hard in all of his races, dropping 8 seconds for a personal best time in the backstroke.

Barker’s next meet is at Newfane on Wednesday, February 5th.

Janicki Takes 1st in 50 Free & 100 Back

NEWFANE -- On Thursday the Modified Swim Team swam hard in their first meet at home. Barker took several 1st place finishes against Medina. Noralie Pierce too a 1st place in the initial event of the meet- the 200 Free. Lilah Kelemen kept things rolling with a 2nd in the next race, the 100 IM, while her teammate, Ayla Riches was just a second behind in 3rd. In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Kolt Wilson took 1st. Joey Janicki was 1st in his heat of the 50 Free. In the 100 Free, Riches took a close 2nd. Pierce had a great race in her heat of the 50 Breaststroke just getting out-touched to take 2nd place. In his heat of the 100 Backstroke Janicki took another 1st place. The 200 yard Freestyle Relay team of Wilson, Kelemen, Riches and Pierce finished the meet with an "exciting crowd on their feet" 1st place for Barker. The race began with a great start from Wilson. Kelemen continued to push a fast pace. Riches showed her strength as she sprinted the last 25 yards to help the team and Pierce dug deep to keep the lead and take the win. Maylee Snyder and Stevie Lee had personal best times and swam hard in their races.

Kelemen Grabs 1st, 2nd and 3rd In First Meet Of Season
January 25, 2025
NEWFANE -- On Saturday, in their first meet of the season, the Modified Swim team swam hard against Medina and Albion. Barker swimmers took several 1st places finishes and had many close races. In the first event of the 200 Medley Relay, Lilah Kelemen, Ayla Riches, Noralie Pierce and Maylee Snyder started Barker off with a very close, strong 2nd place finish. In the next event, the 100 IM, Pierce took 2nd, swimming back-to-back events. Joseph Janicki swam fast and was 1st in his heat of the 50 Free. First time swimming the 100 Free, Riches sprinted her way to a 1st place finish. Kelemen had a great race in the 50 Backstroke, looking powerful and took another 1st for Barker. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Kolt Wilson, Kelemen, Snyder, and Riches closed out the meet with an exciting 3rd place. Stevie Lee swam fast in his events.

Barker’s next meet is Monday, January 27th at Newfane.
