Modified Swim Team Closes Season In League Meet
February 11, 2026
NEWFANE -- The Modified Swim Team ended its season with a meet against all 5 of the other N-O League teams. Results for the Barker team were:

  • Oliver Dergel finished 4th in the 200 Free and 1st in the 100 Breaststroke.
  • Tessa Seward was 5th place in the 200 Free and 13th in the 50 Free.
  • Ayla Riches took 2nd place in the 100 IM and 6th in the 100 Free.
  • Lilah Kelemen had a 5th place finish in the 100 IM and finished 7th in the 50 Breaststroke.
  • Cerenity Street was 10th in the 50 Free and 11th in the 50 Backstroke
  • Hannah Monaco took 20th in the 50 Free and finished 12th in the 50 Backstroke
  • Jacob Meyers was 30th in the 50 Free and 22nd in the 50 Backstroke.

Seward Finishes Third In 200 Free
February 9, 2026
MEDINA -- The Barker Modified Swim team swam exceptionally well on Monday in their meet with Medina and Akron. Oliver Dergel took 1st place in the 200 Free.

Tessa Seward finished 3rd in the 200 Free. Ayla Riches was 1st in the 100 IM. Lilah Kelemen had a 3rd place finish in the 100 IM.

Dergel took 1st place again in the 100 Breaststroke and Lilah Kelemen was 2nd in the 50 Breaststroke.

The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Riches, Kelemen, Hannah Monaco and Dergel had another close 3rd place finish for Barker.

Everyone on the team had personal best times including Jacob Meyers and Cerenity Street.

Barker’s next meet is Wednesday at Newfane.

Street Is First In 50 Free
February 4, 2026
NEWFANE -- On  Wednesday, the Barker Modified Swim team competed against Newfane and Akron. Oliver Dergel took 2nd place in the 200 Free.

Lilah Kelemen was 3rd in the 100 IM. Also in the 100 IM, Ayla Riches took 4th, Tessa Seward 5th and Hannah Monaco finished in 7th.

Cerenity Street was 1st in her heat of the 50 Free and Jacob Meyers finished 2nd.

Dergel took 1st place overall in the 100 Breaststroke. Kelemen was 2nd overall in the 50 Breaststroke. Seward finished in 1st place in her heat of the Breaststroke.

The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Riches, Kelemen, Monaco and Dergel had another close 2nd place finish for Barker.

The next meet is Monday at home against Akron & Medina.

Riches and Kelemen Takes Firsts At Medina
February 2, 2026
MEDINA -- The Modified Swim team had an exceptional meet on Monday at Medina. Ayla Riches took another 1st place in the 200 Free, Lilah Kelemen finished 1st in the 100 IM and Hannah Monaco was 1st in her heat of the 100 IM.

Tessa Seward and Jacob Meyers finished 2nd in their respective heats of the 50 Free.

Oliver Dergel took 1st place in the 100 Free and in the 100 Breaststroke.

Kelemen was 2nd in the 50 Breaststroke.

The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Riches, Kelemen, Monaco and Dergel took 2nd place for Barker.

All members of the team had personal best times including Cerenity Street.

Barker’s next meet is on Wednesday at Newfane.

Monaco Volunteers To Swim Extra Event
January 31, 2026
BARKER -- Saturday the Modified Swim team competed against Albion and Akron. Barker swimmers were impressive in their races.

  • Ayla Riches swam a fast 8 laps in the 200 Freestyle taking 3rd place.
  • Lilah Kelemen had a great race in the 100 IM. Kelemen was barely out touched and finished in 2nd while Tessa Seward finished in 4th place.
  • With a great start off the blocks, it was a photo finish race for Riches in the 50 Free as she sprinted to 2nd place. All swimmers hit the wall at the same time.
  • Seward took 2nd place in her heat of the 50 Free. Hannah Monaco was third.
  • Jacob Meyers had a third place in his heat of the 50 Free.
  • Oliver Dergel took 1st in the 100 Free and dropped seconds off his time to also take a 1st place in the 50 Breastroke.
  • Kelemen had a great start and strong 2nd place finish in the 50 Breastroke.
  • Seward had a 1st first in her heat of the 50 Breaststroke. Meyers had a great race taking 2nd place in the same heat of the 50 Breastroke.
  • Hannah Monaco swam to a 3rd place in the 50 Backstroke and showed a lot of heart volunteering to swim an extra event to allow a swimmer from Albion to have competition in the 100 IM.
  • Riches, Kelemen, Monaco and Dergel finished the meet with an exciting 2nd place finish in the 200 Frees Relay.

Barker’s next meet will be Monday, February 2nd at Medina.

Dergel Wins 50 Breastroke
January 21, 2026
AKRON -- The Modified Swim Team traveled to Akron to swim in a tri-meet with Roy-Hart and Akron. Barker swimmers all earned personal best times. In the 200 Freestyle Ayla Riches had another well paced fast race taking 2nd place.

In the next event, Lilah Kelemen took 2nd in the 100 IM. Her teammate, Hannah Monaco, finished strong taking 4th place.

Out of 20 swimmers in the 50 Free, and in the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Oliver Dergel took 3rd place overall. Tessa Seward was 4th in her heat of the 50 Free. Monaco finished in 2nd in her heat of the 50 Free and Jacob Meyers was right behind in 3rd.

Dergel had another great race in the 100 Free with a 3rd place finish. Oliver also swam an incredible race in the 50 Breastroke taking 1st place.

The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Kelemen, Seward, Cerenity Street and Riches swam personal best times with a very exciting 3rd place finish.

It was a great meet for the team with many compliments from the official.

Barker’s next meet is Monday at home Akron and Newfane.

Modified Swim Team Opens Season Against Medina & Newfane
January 16, 2026
MEDINA -- Last Friday, the Modified Swim team swam hard in their first meet of the season against Medina and Newfane. There are 9 events in a modified swim meet and Barker swimmers placed first in many of them! In the first event for Barker Ayla Riches started Barker off with a 1st place in a well paced 200 Free victory.

In the 100 IM Lilah Kelemen took a close 2nd place with teammate Hannah Monaco right behind her in 3rd.

In the fastest heat of the 50 Free, Oliver Dergel took 1st place overall. Tessa Seward took 1st in her heat of the 50 Free and Monaco also took 1st place in her heat of the 50 Free.

Dergel, swimming the 100 Free for the first time, sprinted his way to a 1st place finish.

Monaco had a great race in the 50 Backstroke and finished 2nd. Kelemen had a strong 3rd place finish in the Backstroke. Seward was 1st in her heat of the 50 Backstroke and Cerenity Street finished with a close 2nd in the same heat. In his heat of the 50 Backstroke, Jacob Meyers took 2nd place.

Dergel looked strong placing 2nd in the 50 Breaststroke while Riches was 3rd.

The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Kelemen, Seward, Street and Riches closed out the meet for Barker with an exciting 2nd place.

It was a great meet by all and Coach Feltz was proud of the team. The official was so impressed with the team's swimming and stroke techniques and couldn't believe it was the first meet.

Barker’s next meet is Wednesday, January 20th at Akron with the Tigers and Roy-Hart.
