JV Baseball Team Closes Out Season Against Medina
May 17, 2012
BARKER -- Doug Bachman led the way offensively for Barker, with three hits in a 19-1 loss to the Medina Mustangs on Thursday. Jake Meister, Shawn Callaghan and Brad Wilson added the other three hits for the Raiders. Meister had the lone RBI for Barker. Bachman struck out six in five innings.
 
The JV team finished the season with an 0-14 record in the Niagara Orleans League and 2-15 overall. The team will attend the Buffalo Bisons game on Friday, June 15 for it's season ending banquet.

Callaghan And Higgins Pick Up Hits Against Newfane

BARKER -- Yesterday the JV Baseball dropped a 7-6 heartbreaker to Newfane. Brad Wilson was strapped with the loss after pitching a very impressive game. Wilson struck out eights while scattering six hits and two walks. At the plate for the Raiders Wilson and Doug Bachman both had multi-hit games while Austin Higgins and Shawn Callaghan both picked up one hit.

Barker is 0-13 in the league and 2-14 overall. The JVs will close out their season on Thursday at 4:45 when they host Medina.
 
Purple Eagles Drop JV Baseball Team
May 12, 2012
ALBION -- Saturday the JV Baseball team lost a tough game to the Purple Eagles in Albion by a score of 19-3. Brad Wilson and Austin Higgins both had two hits for the Raiders. One of Wilson's hits was a double. Cody Wells, Wilson and Higgins all had one RBI. Doug Bachman and Higgins both had a stolen base. Tyler Miller and Higgins both had two strike outs in their time on the mound for the JVs.
 
Barker is now 0-12 in the league and 2-13 overall. The team will host Newfane on Tuesday at 4:45.
 
Wilson Strikes Out Nine Lakemen
May 10, 2012
WILSON -- Doug Bachman, Jake Mesiter, Scott Hoyle and Brad Wilson all had one hit in a 17-5 loss at Wilson on Thursday afternoon. Patrick Desmarais added a double for the Raiders. Wilson struck out nine in five innings of work on the mound while Hoyle stole three bases.
 
The loss dropped the team to 0-11 in the Niagara Orleans League and 2-12 overall. Barker will travel to Albion on Saturday for a 12:00 start.

Gregoire Strikes Out Six In Rain Shortened Five Inning Game
May 7, 2012
BARKER -- On Monday afternoon the JV Baseball team lost a close 4-0 rain shortened game against Roy-Hart. Barker was led on the mound by Tanner Gregoire who struck out six in five innings of work. Doug Bachman did a solid job behind the plate. Gregoire, Jake Meister and Jim LaJoie all had a stolen base.

The JVs are back in action on Wednesday at Wilson with a 4:45 start. The team is now 0-10 in the league and 2-11 overall.
 
Raiders Shutout In Niagara Orleans League Showcase
April 28, 2012
GASPORT -- On Saturday night under the lights at Roy-Hart Elementary School in the Niagara Orleans League Showcase the JV Baseball team was shutout 9-0 by the Medina Mustangs. Barker was unable to create much offense against the top team in the league as Brad Wilson had the lone hit for the Raiders. Shawn Callaghan had the only stolen base for Barker. Doug Bachman went the distance for Barker striking out one.
 
The Raiders are now 0-9 in the league and 2-10 overall. They will play again on May 7 at 4:45 in Barker against Roy-Hart.

JV Baseball Team Still Winless In League Play
April 27, 2012
NEWFANE -- Friday afternoon the JV Baseball team lost 15-5 at Newfane. Doug Bachman and Brad Wilson both had two hits for the Raiders. Bachman stole two bases in the game. Wilson struck out 11 Panthers in his six innings on the mound.
 
The team is now 0-8 in the NO League and 2-9 overall. The next game will be on Saturday night at 7:00 pm in Gasport against Medina in the Niagara Orleans League Showcase.

Purple Eagles Defeat Raiders
April 25, 2012
BARKER -- Wednesday the Albion Purple Eagles defeated the JV Baseball team 21-2. Zack Golding led the Raiders with two doubles and an RBI. Golding struck out six Purple Eagles. 
 
The team is now 0-7 in the NO League and 2-8 overall. The team will travel to Newfane on Thursday.

Bachman and Golding Notch Two Hits For JV Raiders
April 20, 2012
BARKER -- On Friday the JV Baseball team lost to Wilson 25-8. Doug Bachman and Zack Golding both had two hits for Barker. Bachman and Golding each struck out five while Cody Wells struck out two.
 
Barker is now 0-6 in the Niagara Orleans League and 2-7 overall. The team will host Albion on Monday.

Wilson Strong In Outing Against Rams
April 17, 2012
GASPORT -- Brad Wilson struck out nine Rams on Tuesday in a 4-1 loss at Roy-Hart. The victim of little offensive support, Wilson threw a great game for the JV Baseball team, but came up on the losing end of a four hit, two walk performance. Doug Bachman had two hits for the Raiders while Wilson, Scott Hoyle and Zack Golding each added one.

Currently the team is 0-5 in the NO League and 2-6 overall. The next game will be at home on Friday against Wilson at 4:45.
 
JV Baseball Team Claims Battle Of The Bats Title
April 14, 2012
BARKER -- On Saturday the JV Baseball team picked up two big wins to claim the Barker Battle of the Bats Tournament Championship. After an 7-0 victory over Pembroke in the first game the Raiders rallied in the sixth inning to defeat Alexander 8-4 in the finals. Brad Wilson led the way for Barker in game one with a 17-strikeout domination of the Dragons. Wilson allowed only three hits along with one walk in the stellar performance on the mound. Doug Bachman had a great game behind the plate and picked up two hits. Patrick Desmarais, Jake Meister and Tanner Gregoire had the other hits for the Raiders.
 
In the championship game Gregoire scattered five hits and four walks to go with three strikeouts. Zack Golding and Wilson both picked up two hits and it was Golding's two RBI single in the sixth that put the Raiders ahead for good. Desmarais and Austin Higgins had the other hits for Barker.
 
Gregoire was awarded the MVP for the tournament for his work on the mound, at the plate and on the bases and for his defensive play. Congratulations to a team who had been struggling on defense heading into the tournament, but had only two errors for the day. Great pitching, solid defense and timely hitting says it all for their success on Saturday. The team is now 2-5 overall and will return to league play on Tuesday.

Raiders Lost Doubleheader At Akron
April 5, 2012
AKRON -- For the second time this week the JV Baseball team was scheduled to play a doubleheader to accommodate the 8th grade class trip to Washington, D.C. in May. Thursday the team played a five inning and four inning game at Akron against the Tigers. In game one the Raiders dropped an 18-6 decision as Brad Wilson and Scott Hoyle both had two hits. Wilson's were both doubles. Tanner Gregoire and Zack Golding both laced triples. Doug Bachman stole a pair of bases and scored twice in the opener. Golding also scored twice while Gregoire had two RBI. Gregoire took the loss on the mound striking out four.
 
In game two the team only had two hits, one each by Golding and Jim LaJoie, but was able to make the most of other opportunities in a 7-5 loss. Hoyle would score twice in the second game and Golding and Gregoire both had an RBI. Golding, LaJoie and Hoyle all stole two bases. Golding and Wilson both struck out four in the two innings each pitched.
 
Barker is now 0-4 in league play and 0-5 overall. The team will host the Battle of the Bats Tournament on April 14.
 
JV Baseball Team Looking For Offense
April 3, 2012
BARKER -- Tuesday the JV Baseball team began league play with a double header against CSAT. Barker lost the opener 15-4. Scheduled to play two games, both five innings of length to accommodate the 8th grade class trip in May which would force three members of the Raiders to miss the game, the teams managed to complete the first game, but then were only able to manage an inning and a half of the second game due to loss of daylight.

The young Raiders managed just one hit, courtesy of Tanner Gregoire in the two games. Gregoire and Doug Bachman both struck out four batters in the first game.
 
In game two Barker continued to struggle at the plate and on the field as CSAT took an 8-0 shutout victory.
 
The team is now 0-2 in the NO League and 0-3 overall.
 
Wilson Opens Season With Three Hits
April 2, 2012
BARKER -- On Monday the JV Baseball lost to Alexander in the season opener 20-5. Brad Wilson led the team with three hits for the Raiders. Tanner Gregoire crushed a triple for the home team. Wilson struck out seven in four innings of work on the hill.
 
The team is back in action on Tuesday with two five inning games against CSAT at home.
