February 2012 Dear Parents, We have begun the second half of the school year and students received any schedule changes in their homeroom. Please continue to encourage your student to complete all of their work and don’t forget that you can also keep track of assignments through the Parent Portal. On Tuesday February 7 at 6:30 PM in the Pratt Elementary Cafetorium Kathy Gust from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children will do a presentation for parents and high school students. The topic is how to keep children safe from bullying, exploitation and abduction in today’s technological society. This program is sponsored by the Barker PTSA. The Mid-winter break will be from Monday February 20 through Friday February 24. Students will resume school on Monday February 27. On Wednesday February 29th Mrs. Lakeman will be hosting a high school orientation for the parents of our 8th grade students. This will take place in the cafeteria from 7 PM to 8 PM. As you continue to monitor your student’s work do not hesitate to contact the teachers; we want all of our students to be successful and if we continue to work together we can accomplish that. There is additional help available from 3:00PM until 5:00PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in room 157 in the high school. Our 8th grade students are continuing to work and finalize plans for their Washington, DC trip that will take place May 1st through May 4th.
