To our District residents,

Inherent in our school’s mission is to ensure all graduating seniors leave our district as competent and competitive as any high school graduate, anywhere.

It is a promise we make to our students, their parents and to our community.  If there has ever been a graduating class to convince you that it’s “mission accomplished”, it is this one.

Eighty-six members of the Class of 2010 will enter college, the work force and/or the military, well prepared for the challenges that await them. Their skills and career interests are diverse and will reflect the type of society we need to make a positive difference in our communities, our state and our country, particularly during these difficult economic times. Moreover, these students are service-minded, collaborative, and problem solvers— a complement to their diverse talents and interests.

Not unlike many of the thousands of graduates who have received a Barker Central School Diploma dating back to 1912, our recent graduates will also leave us with fond memories of their school experiences. Reflecting on their senior year alone, some will remember their first attempt at a European adventure... one that took them from Buffalo to Charlotte, NC and back in the same day. Others will recall their senior trip to NYC. Perhaps it will be their membership in a club or one of our scholar-athlete teams that brought Barker High School to be named a School of Distinction. They may recall the endless applause demonstrating the audience’s delight in this year’s musical, “Crazy for You.” It could be a member of the Band who recalls achieving a gold award in the NYSSMA Competition or first place trophy at Darien Lake. Some of our graduates may consider their artwork proudly displayed on the Market Street Wall, that trip to Kansas City representing New York State in the SkillsUSA Competition, or the day they received their letter of acceptance to the college or university of their choice ss that which leaves a lasting impression of their senior year.

It has been a pleasure to see the progress and potential of all members of this year’s graduating class. We trust they will go into the next stage of their lives with courage and enthusiasm. All of us at Barker Central School wish our graduates the very best, now and in the future.
